About this project
It's a big step, but It's also definitely within reach! It'll mean I have to read a very large chunk of Tax Literature, so...
U.S. Code - Title 26 - Subtitle A - Chapter 1 - Subchapter A - Part IV - Subpart B, C, D, and E!
Share it with friends. Make sure to mention that the project is already fully funded and that all it takes to listen to the finished product is one dollar. Just one.
You're the best! Around! And nothing's gonna ever take you down!
**End of Stretch Goal**
Have you ever listened to someone speak and thought to yourself, "Dear Sweet Merciful Crap, I could listen to that person read me the nutritional information label of a candy bar." That's totally happened to me before. In fact, that's happened because of me on several occasions.
"Sean, I could listen to you read the phone book all day."
"I think Sean should read for the entire class. I hate the sound of my own voice compared to Sean's."
"I'd totally *Know In The Biblical Sense* Sean's voice."
I want to give back to the world that has been so kind in its compliments. I want to read for you the US Tax Code. I'll record it, edit it, and post it, for you, on YouTube.
It's simple. I only need one dollar to get started. One dollar gets you The US Tax Code, Title 26, Subtitle A, Chapter One, SubChapter A, Part One, 1: Tax Imposed.
"But Sean," You politely ask, "How exactly are you going to record yourself reading the US Tax Code?"
Using an MXL 770 microphone, a Xenyx Q1202 USB preamp, and Audacity.
"Wow, Sean, that was a more thorough explanation than I was expecting. Does this mean my funds are going towards purchasing the recording equipment for you?"
Not at all. I already own the equipment. I have a studio set up in my home where I work as a professional voice over actor and audiobook narrator.
"Oh!" You say, gently fanning your face with a, well, a fan. "So you do this all the time, professionally?"
Why yes! In the 24 months since I started my audio career I have finished 20 audiobooks, an upcoming iPhone app, as well as musical collaborations with the Materia: Final Fantasy VII Remix Album. You can check out my website seanlenhart.com for even more!
"I'm so impressed! I want to donate my money to you right away!"
That's a pretty hefty amount for just one dollar, but you deserve it. And believe me, there's plenty more where that came from. I will happily read more and more of the US Tax Code in increasing stretch goals. If the project gets funded to a high enough degree I will have enough reading material to last several years of my life.
So please, allow my voice into your homes and into your hearts. Maybe you're a law student and need to find an alternative way to study the tax code. Maybe you're friends with a law student, or a relation to a law student. Maybe you teach a law class. Maybe you just think this whole thing is silly. Maybe you want to torture a poor voice actor and pay enough money to force him to read the US Tax Code for the rest of his life. There's no bad reason. No one's judging you.
I am excited to finally achieve my lifelong goal of taking someone's compliment way too literally. I can't do it without your help. Let's read the US Tax Code together!
Well, mostly just me doing the reading, but still... together.
Risks and challenges
There is the possibility of temporary setbacks such as temporary loss of power to my home or catastrophic system failure on my laptop. None of these would cause a considerable delay. A week at most.
It's possible that I could become sick and could not physically perform the act of reading. That's ok, because the editing takes longer than the actual reading, and I can happily do that from the comfort of a sick bed if necessary.
