Although traffic congestion cannot be solved by eMobility alone, the focus of Scrooser aims to be more intelligent by moving riders through urban areas efficiently, saving time in covering short distances.

KICKSTART YOUR SCROOSER
Over the last two years, we have designed and built an innovative solution which instigates the practicality of urban mobility. We are now ready to share the final design result with the world. We are offering Scrooser to the early adaptive kickstarter community to find out who is interested in riding a Scrooser as well as where and why.
We're just a small team with a big idea and are interested in finding the financial supporters to raise the amount of capital needed to establishing the Scrooser as a product in a global market. The additional supplementary financing we are seeking will finally allow us to concentrate on all the details that still need to be worked on like the modification of the frame or the improvement of the driving dynamics. Furthermore, we have to fulfill our engineering obsession of perfecting the impulse drive electric motor. It will take us and our engineers a lot of work, power and money to be able to start with the serial production to share Scrooser with the rest of the world.
As we prepare for the production of our first run of 150 Scroosers we are excited for all the potential backer support and commitment. As limited amounts of rewards become sold out, we will offer new rewards so backers will still be able to preorder a Scrooser with a later production time and respective delivery date.
THE SCROOSER STORY
The Mobility Solution Company IFPEG is a tech startup founded in Nov 2011. Our aspirations reside in designing and developing new means of transport. We remain focused on solutions that are marketable, innovative, and suitable for daily use. In March 2012, we embarked upon the Scrooser project which has evolved from an idea into a fully functional riding prototype. During this time, building renovations were completed and we moved into the Scrooser Manufactory on Wilsdruffer Straße 11, Dresden, Germany in Dec 2012.
In Feburary 2013, we filmed Scrooser on the vibrant streets of Barcelona. The overwhelming amount of questions by fascinated pedestirans and thier excitement of riding a Scrooser led us to prepare for our first project on Kickstarter. At the moment, we are perfecting the electronics of the progressive impulse drive electric motor while finalizing manufacturing logistics. Scrooser has just been nominated in the category "mobility" for the GreenTec Awards 2013, which honors pioneers who are committed to a more environmentally conscious future.

Risks and challenges
Successful kickstarter campaigns sometimes have encountered problems when taking their alpha and beta products into production. This includes finding reliable suppliers and meeting quality control standards necessary for engineering products for mass-production. Organizing a smooth execution will be absolutely essential to overcoming such risks, and we have been diligently working for months negotiating with suppliers, testing component quality, and building a team that can execute on our promises. A perfect pace for maneuvering through the city among pedestrian filled sidewalks is around 6 mph, but feel free to race cyclists on bike paths at a maximum speed of up to 15 mph.
The intelligent impulse drive provides electric power support augmenting the amount of physical force the foot has pushed off the ground with. The impulse drive kicks in automatically when a speed of 2 mph or greater is reached. After it kicks in, it pauses until you release another impulse (again with whatever amount of force your foot has pushed off the ground with). The interval between the pushing impulses depends on the riding situation you’re in, and whenever you apply the brakes, the motor is automatically disengaged.
The engine (48 V; 1000 W; electrics 48 V; 20 Ah) is a direct drive motor integrated into the rear wheel rim, which means that there are no gear belts, linkages or any other additional elements that could break. The system is nearly maintenance free and very quiet. Characteristics of the custom-built brushless electric hub motor feature electric controls using high quality neodymium magnets. Brushless hub motors create the hinge moment where it is needed – exactly at the spinning rim and in the wheel, so no additional space is required on the frame body. Also, thanks to the brushless hub motor design, you will have to worry about any shortages that usually appear among back-geared motors like noises from the gearbox, oil loss, etc. Furthermore, the operating distance increases significantly because a gear or a mechanical differential does not influence the efficiency of the engine.
Scrooser comes equipped with a Lithium-Ion battery that is very efficient, maintenance free and lightweight. While in Eco mode, one battery charge will last an estimated 25 days in the urban environment. The battery cells are stored in an external case underneath the footboard. Either you charge it right at the Scrooser or it can be taken out in order to plug it into an ordinary outlet. A LED display shows the state of charge. It takes about three hours to charge the battery with the standard charger. We also will be offering a quick charger that only needs 1.5 hours to completely fill the battery (~500 load cycles).
A big challenge during the development of the Scrooser was the frame geometry. The frame basically consists of two parts. Each half is formed from one piece by a process called “free-form 3D bending”. The enormous stability is generated through the short successive radii and a high-strength aluminum alloy. This also raises the degree of difficulty during the manufacturing process. Therefore the frame including the fork only weighs 6lbs.
Each Scrooser has an ignition lock. When the key is removed a motor blockage triggered so it cannot be rolled away. In addition, underneath the seat you can find a high quality steel cable lock embedded into the frame. Just pull it out and place around a fence or something secure and turn the key in the frame. When you are ready to ride, simply push the lock back into the frame. We will also offer an integrated GPS receiver that notifies you when your Scrooser gets stolen and makes it easier to track and find it through your smart phone.
The handlebars and footboard come in a matte charcoal gray while the rims and the motor casing remain dark silver. The seat is coated with rugged corrugated synthetic leather and Scrooser emblem embossed on its backside. Stay tuned for some updates concerning the final 4 color combinations along with the special 5th kickstarter color combo that backers will given the chance to vote on it along with its name.
Actually the tires are so fat that when you step off, Scrooser remains standing in place. However for extremely uneven terrain and for occasional curious (but clumsy) onlooker, we integrated a double kickstand that can be effortlessly swung in and out through a spring mechanism hidden underneath the footboard.
Scrooser comes with daytime running lights that consist of white LEDs in front and red LEDs in the back which act as rear reflector.
