thefuture of thepresent
What does it feel like to be present? How do we live in the moment?
thefuture of thepresent is a monthly series that uses the worlds first annual clock as a starting point to explore the nature of time and discover the present. The show will search for answers to ancient questions about time and collapse the insights into bite sized episodes that help you navigate the 21st century.
It will premiere on every full moon, beginning December 17th 2013
Who are you and what's this all about?
My name is Scott Thrift and earlier this year I had the opportunity to create the first press of ThePresent in New York. Using a custom engineered movement, the clock sets itself to today, everyday for the rest of the year. Right now over 1000 clocks are in operation across 30 countries. The benefits of living with ThePresent are just now revealing themselves. Here is what people are saying about ThePresent.
Discovering and chronicling any insights inspired by living with such easy access to this ancient scale of time is something I am interested in documenting. This show gives me an anchor to return to each month. I want to make a fun thought provoking piece for every full moon.

Are the clocks available now?
Yes. I am making a limited amount of clocks available as needed to fund the series. If funded they will ship this December.
Why should I pledge?
This is your chance to own the worlds first annual clock at backer prices. If the goal is reached I'll be able to produce a year long series called thefuture of thepresent.
ThePresent is the ideal starting point to explore ancient philosophical questions such as; What does it mean to be present? When are you often 'there' and what does it feel like? How has technology changed time? How do we make time more valuable?
Risks and challenges
This would be a promise to myself and the backer audience that I post on every Full Moon for a year. That's a commitment I can handle.
I was able to try out this full moon cycle while manufacturing the clock so I'm excited to potentially have the time to focus on making the most interesting show I can.
