My name is Scott, and I'd like your help to make ten incredible landscape fine art prints.
In 2007, I had the opportunity to fulfill one of my dreams. Since I was young, my dream was to travel to Ireland and see this majestic land. Leaving the USA to have this adventure was one of the best feelings I've ever had, and I want to share that feeling with you. Since then, I've been fine-tuning my photography skills and my vision. In the back of my mind, I knew one day I would return.
On October 17th, 2012 I'm retuning to ireland for 10 days of shooting. The ticket is paid, gear is packed, and locations planned.
My project is called 'Postcards on the Edge.' This is not going to be a see all the pretty castles and paved roadways kind of trip. I'm going to the areas less traveled, off the map, beautiful locations that may not get as much attention, but are haunting in their presence. I'd like your help to take the photos from this trip and turn them into high-quality prints.
I love to get mail. Even though we have hit the age of the internet with e-mail and online chat, I still love looking in the mailbox and seeing a letter or card for me - not a sales ad, not a credit card offer, not a political mailer and definitely not a bill. A piece of paper, tangible, with a sentiment for me.
Each day in Ireland I'll turn one of my images into a postcard and mail it that day to you. You'll know where it's from based on the postmark, and we might include the occasional handwritten message too.
When I return, I will create a online gallery of the 10 postcard images, and allow you to pick a print of your choice based on your sponsorship level.
The Print Sizes: 8x10", 11x14", or 16x20" on Professional Silver Metallic paper. This paper give the prints a nice sheen and makes the colors really pop. As always I will oversee the printing process and all the prints and each print signed and numbered by myself on the back. These are unmatted limited edition high-quality prints. They fit in standard frames that you can pick up from any store. I will ask you your specific choices via a survey once the project has completed funding.
I have added an option to purchase a 16x20" fine art gallery wrap canvas. For something truly unique I have offered a limited edition size of 5. The canvas will be professional produced, signed and numbered on the back.
The international option is for the backers who are getting prints made, ($30 and up) and are not needed for the postcard only $10 Pledge. The final prints will ship from the USA.
I've been saving up and planning for this trip -- I'm ready to go October 17th. I'm using Kickstarter to cover the cost of a postcard printer, paper, ink, postage, and the final prints when I return. Hopefully you're as excited about this as I am. These photos remind me of why I like to explore, and I hope they will inspire you. On your wall, they will remind you of the beauty and mystery this land. Share the adventure with me as I photograph the Irish countyside.
