Premise behind “Holiday Wars”
Holidays reflect the current culture of a society and like a shifting tide they change. Realizing this, The Easter Bunny declared war on the other Holidays in the hopes of gaining the one thing that can guarantee his immortality: The Holiday Spirit. Foreseeing The Bunny’s betrayal, Santa hid The Holiday Spirit and marked Tegan Cassidy, a human infant, granting her the ability to find it.
After sixteen years of war, nearly all the Holidays have been killed or have joined The Bunny. Led by Earth Day, the rag tag group of observances still fighting, turn to a now teenage Tegan in the hopes that she can lead them to The Holiday Spirit.
Where is the Money Going?
We are looking to cover the printing and shipping of “Holiday Wars Volume 1: The Holiday Spirit.” The book will be between 232 to 244 pages in full color. Should we go over the pledge goal, the extra money will be put toward paying the colorist and for printing Volume 2. If we REALLLYYY go over our goal then I think we will try to add some bonus swag for everyone that pledges.
What is “Tales of Holiday's Past?”Collected with the main story will be “Tales of Holiday’s Past,” a series of short stories that takes place before the start of the main storyline. The tales are considered part of continuity and each one is written by Scott and drawn by a guest artist. Since the main story is Tegan’s story, “ToHP” is a chance for us to highlight some of our supporting cast and share some things that wouldn’t fit into the regular story. The Book:
Sketchcards from Michael Odom:
Each sketch is an original piece done on a bristol card with prismacolor markers. On the backs are the names of the characters featured as well as a signature and date.
Original Artwork from the comic:
Pages are 7x14 and will be given away at random.
Become a background Holiday in Volume 2:
Choose from a list of Holidays and in Volume 2 that Holiday will be named after you and have your likeness!
Become a Holiday in Volume 2 & get a "ToHP" story featuring you:
Don't want to just be a background character? Then have your Holiday be featured in an original "Tales of Holiday's Past" story.
The Script for Volume 2:
The script is in screenplay format and clocks in at 142 pages! It's bound with brads and has card stock for the backing and front.
I don't do "Holiday Wars" alone. I have a full team of talented artists that I work with. Here is a little bit about them...
- Michael Odom – Penciler
Michael Odom holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree which he abuses daily by making cartoon funny book drawings. Odom is not a fast artist because he labors over every page. After having seen the work you may doubt that fact and ask yourself, “Where does all that effort go then?” Hidden messages of positive affirmation. Odom takes the time to carefully construct the lines of each page to spell out hidden messages of positivity to help subliminally influence you to be the best you that you can be. So make sure to check out Odom’s work often because you’re worth it.
- Arturo Said – Inker
Arturo Said was born in Mexico City and studied visual arts at the San Carlos Academy. He began working in comics drawing classic characters like Porky Pig and Tom and Jerry with artist Layo Vazquez. Later in his career, Said was hired to draw the Mexican version of Dennis the Menace and did so for eight years. His other works include,”Banda Timbiriche,” “Bronco” and many other works. Currently, he is running his own comic shop in Mexico City.
- Giuseppe Pica – Colorist
Giuseppe Pica lives and works in Italy, near Rome. He’s an avid reader of comics, but loves mangas and non-fiction works. He colors mostly American comics and feels silly writing about himself in third person so he has decided to keep this bio short.
*Note: We are counting "international orders" as any not shipping in the United States.
Because "webcomic" isn't a derogatory term. It's becoming the industry standard for indie comics.
Besides, by launching online for free we end up having a much larger reader base then if we only printed single issues or a graphic novel. Sure making money would be nice, but at the end of the day the most important thing is getting the story out there to as many people as possible.
We are counting "international orders" as any not shipping in the United States.
