About this project
"To beer or not to beer..."
So... we want to put on a serious Shakespearean play in New York but start each show with one of our actors doing some serious drinking. You know you want to see this already! It's "Drunk History" meets "Abridged Shakespeare".
"Drunk Shakespeare" will premiere at Quinn's Bar (New York) on 25 March and run every night for 12 weeks. This is a show where ANYTHING could happen. Each night, a different cast member will be selected for the unequalled challenge of performing a Shakespearean role whilst gracefully supported by their drink of choice. Literature's greatest tragedies are about to get worse! Tragic, really.
We need your help to raise $10,000. These funds will go toward a VERY worthy cause - the alcohol budget for our actors!! Over 1,300 people have already applied to our casting notice... and we selected just ten of them with the highest-qualifications in both drinking and Shakespeare.
These professional actors are going to be drinking every night for this important cause and we need your help to get them there. Help us launch the Shakespearience of a lifetime!
"That which hath made them drunk, hath made me bold!"
If the show is a success in New York, we plan to take it on the road. In the USA and overseas. So... help us get it started and it may soon come to a town near you!
Like your whiskey neat? Want to support Off-Broadway Theater? Just want to see actors get drunk all over Shakespeare? Check out the awesome rewards and kickstart us to drunk Shakespearean glory!
You can see a sneak preview of drunk out-takes from rehearsals here:
NOTE: any additional funds will go toward creating REALLY amazing merchandise like our "Drunk Shakespeare" wooden tankards and "Drunk Shakespeare" frosted shot glasses. Any leftover funds will help with show marketing!

Risks and challenges
A successful theater project needs a great team, a great concept and great marketing. We have... Producer Scott Griffin (Harvard MBA and Serial Entrepreneur from Australia) and Directors "Three Day Hangover" (David Hudson, Lori Wolter Hudson, Beth Gardiner). Three Day Hangover have serious experience drinking and acting with their sold out show "R+J: Star-Cross'd Death Match". Scott Griffin has been producing live performance around the world for over 15 years - recently including MOON where a classical choir simulates masturbation live on stage. This time, with alcohol!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
