Hey everybody! My name is David Dean Bottrell. I’m an actor-writer based here in Hollywood, California.
You may have seen me on one of your favorite TV shows (usually playing a murderer or psychopath). Fans of David E. Kelley’s "BOSTON LEGAL" might remember me as “Lincoln Meyer” – that fantastically nutty reccurring character who knocked-off a couple of judges and eventually kidnapped Candice Bergen; holding her captive in my basement over Christmas! More recently, I guest-starred on HBO’s "TRUE BLOOD" back in August and I'm going to be on the Christmas episode of "NCIS."
I’m also a screenwriter (Fox Searchlight’s “KINGDOM COME”) and a monologist. In 2010, I did a one-man storytelling show (“David Dean Bottrell Makes Love”) at the Comedy Central Stage here in L.A. It was an evening of true love stories from my life; starting at age six right up to the present. The show was directed by the super-talented Jim Fall ("TRICK" and "THE LIZZIE McGUIRE MOVIE"). It was supposed to be a one-night-only gig, but word spread and each week, more people came. Then they started coming back...And bringing their friends!
The show became sort of a phenomenon; selling out the majority of its performances, while also winning some awards and getting some unexpectedly groovy press from outlets like the Los Angeles Times, NPR, KABC-TV, the Huffington Post and Deadline Hollywood. Adjectives like “Hysterical,” “Hilarious,” “Courageous” and “Moving” were used! It was crazy!
I’ve now written a very funny NEW SHOW about my pursuit of employment and the meaning of life. It’s called “DAVID DEAN BOTTRELL IS WORKING.” Jim Fall is back to direct and the wonderful Lee Costello is our new producer! This time out, I’m ready to step things up a bit. My goal is to give the show a full production and hopefully hire a film crew so I can record the new show with excellent sound and picture quality -- that way fans all over the country can download it from iTunes or Amazon. We would like to have the show up and running here in Los Angeles by early February, 2013.
The stated fundraising goal of $10,000.00 is very modest -- it's less than what we'll ultimately need to eventually finish the "movie" version of the new show, but it will definitely get "DDB is Working" up and running and the help us meet the first round of expenses!
My director, producer and I will all be working hard to reach out to all the fans of the last show - plus our friends, family and of course, all the BOSTON LEGAL fans to help us pull this off.
I hope you'll check out the video and then make a donation to our show! Large donations are AWESOME, but small ones count too! I would be very grateful for your support. And definitely check out our “REWARDS” section to the right.
I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS PROJECT! Thanks so much for supporting me and this very funny, very smart (soon-to-be-a-big-hit) show!

Risks and challenges
Every project has challenges -- and challenges can only be met by teamwork. Luckily, I've got a terrific, experienced team in place -- Many of them (like director Jim Fall and publicist Patty Freedman) are back from the original show. Plus we've added a couple of fantastic new players! After our extraordinary success last year ("DDB Makes Love" played another brief, sold-out engagment in 2012) we're totally psyched about bringing "DDB is Working" to all the fans of the previous show! Thanks again for supporting our extremely funny show!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
