A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
Back in 2016, we have strived to create our own rules and codes. This is true both for design with audacious and unconventional products and the way we envision our business to reach unique people.
In the Swiss watch industry, the vision hasn't changed over the last 100 years. Time for disruption has come. Be a leader, not a follower. Sharing this project with you on Kickstarter is the opportunity to create again our own path and rewrite some old established rules.
Why should unique products always be made available through the same channels to the same people? Kickstarter platform and community will allow us to finally develop, design and validate a watch collection directly from their future owners. You can make this happen as you have the possibility to bring this project to life with your support.
AN EXCLUSIVE LAUNCH ON KICKSTARTER
We have designed this new collection of two watches exclusively for the Kickstarter platform. If success hits this project, you would be proudly wearing a unique and limited production watch.
A successful campaign would definitely lead us to rethink the way we consider ourselves. This could push us to bring more creative and daring products to new and open-minded communities.
THE XTREME COLLECTION
Our new collection is composed of two models, Le Mans and Speedracer. Dedicated to car lovers and designed inspired by the legendary GT40. The two watches will come in four different executions based on Aluminum, used by all high-end Swiss watch brands, highly non-corrosive and anti-allergic.
The Speedracer and Le Mans are Swiss Made watches with unique and specific design and technical feature. Moreover, the aluminum movement and watch case are manufactured in-house. This gives the watches a unique look and all this below the weight of 50 grams, including strap.
The feeling provided by the product when you have it on your wrist is merely serious and luxurious. You won't be ashamed to compare it with much more expensive watches.
THE LE MANS
HIGH-QUALITY LEATHER STRAPS
Our high-quality leather straps come in tasteful orange or deep black with perforations that evoke vintage car racing. Laser engraved and tinted aluminum buckles.
CLASSIC AND PRESTIGE BOX
The luxurious prestige box comes with an aluminum engraved plate. On the example below, the Le Mans prestige box in full effect.
Here is the elegant classic box.
BENEFITS - MORE VALUE, LESS MONEY
Breaking the rules of tradition allows us to offer you a much better product final price. Which you will fully benefit. In this specific case from -50% to -75%! Compared to what retail price would have been. This represents a risk for us but we ready to take it and share the benefits.
In addition, early birds will get an Anchor aluminum Bracelet.
Aluminum anchor bracelet.
Aluminum anchor keychain.
THE AMAZING PROPERTIES OF ALUMINUM.
Aluminum has a unique combination of attractive features. Many of them are extremely important for our efforts to create a more sustainable society. What properties are you looking for? Why use aluminum? More about our favorite material and discover new opportunities.
Recyclability. Aluminum lasts forever and is the environment's best friend.
Solid and very light because of its low density. However, extrusions can be made to be both strong and durable. It all depends on the application and the technique that is behind it. For a boat, naval architects can achieve weight savings of 40% compared to steel.
Weight. With a density of one-third of steel, 2,700 kg/m3, aluminum is very light. This is why it is continually replacing other materials in all branches of industry.
Resistance. Light does not mean fragile. Aluminum alloys have tensile strengths of between 70 and 700 MPa. Unlike most steels, its resistance increases at low temperatures. This makes aluminum a natural choice in many circumstances.
Machining. The machining of this material is incredible versatility. Milling, drilling, cutting, punching, and bending are common machining methods for aluminum. In addition, the energy input during machining is low, resulting in a greener environmental footprint.
Incombustible. It has better fire protection characteristics than carbon fiber, which contains flammable resins.
Assembly. Features facilitating assembly are often incorporated from the design stage of the profile. Fusion welding, friction welding, thermocompression, and bonding are other methods used for assembly.
Shield Against electromagnetic radiation. Due to their tightness, aluminum housings can effectively exclude or filter electromagnetic radiation (EMC). The higher the conductivity of a material, the better its filtering qualities.
Corrosion resistance. Have you ever seen rusty aluminum? Aluminum reacts with oxygen in the air to form an extremely thin layer of oxide. Despite its thickness of only a few hundredths of a micron (1 micron is one-thousandth of a millimeter), this layer is very dense and provides excellent protection against corrosion. If it is damaged, this layer is able to self-restore.
Aluminum Vs Steel. Aluminum's ability to absorb energy is greater than steel, which is why the material is used for safety purposes such as fire and blast resistance, bullet-proofing and burglary-resistant systems.
In comparison to aluminum, copper is heavy and more expensive. In particular, for fully electric vehicles the switch to the cheaper and lighter aluminum provides an opportunity to save cost and weight.
Aluminum alloys used in shipbuilding corrode around 100 times slower than steel.
We have a humble objective of 50 watches to consider this project a first success and start the production. Under this amount of units, it would cost us too much time and resources to build up a serious production capacity.
Hopefully, this project will be successful with your support. Should this be the case, we would start production of the first watches few days after the end of the campaign. Once you have chosen and confirmed your model selection.
WARRANTY & FAQS
Maintaining the high quality we are already known for is one of our prerogatives, and so we want to ensure your Watch lasts as long as it should. Each watch body (straps excluded) comes with a two-year warranty on workmanship, materials and parts, and beyond that, we are always wanting to be in touch to be sure you are satisfied with your watch.
We love telling our story, and if you love it too, feel free to share using the pictures, background information and more you will find here. Whether you’re a journalist or a fan, we’re just glad to have you here with us as we take off on our journey. Feel free to reach out any time.
Normal production capacity increase will allow us to deliver the watches around December 2018. Components production and watch assembly can take from 2 to 4 months.
Free watch shipment worldwide is included in every package. However local customs taxes or VAT might be applied to the delivery. You will be personally informed on project status and your personal expected delivery time.
Risks and challenges
A successful campaign would undoubtedly lead us to rethink the way we consider ourselves. This could push us to bring more creative and daring products to new and open-minded communities.
As Schneider&Co we are taking a risk — small or big, who knows? — But our values tell us to act so:
- Try & Succeed or Try & Fail.
- Win or Learn but don't stay home.
Never has a Swiss watch brand created and developed a product especially for a community out of known and traditional distribution channels. Let's walk out of beaten tracks.
We are the first watch brand to do so! Out of the comfort zone. This is in our DNA! Exploring new ways to do things, creating new opportunities and above all getting directly in touch with our community and developing why not a new one. Let's make this happen with your support.
If we succeed with your help, we promise you it won't be the last project on Kickstarter. If we fail, we would at least have tried to break the rules one more time. We might even come back again sooner than expected!
No established brand has ever thought and dared to do so. This is who we are. Disrupting conventional rules. Make incredible watches accessible. Above all, let's do not act like the others. They will certainly look at us with a condescending smile and certainly not understand our move.
Is that such a risk in the end?
Regarding Speedracer and Le Mans project, we master all technical and production aspects. All products images you have seen in the provides images are already second generation samples.
Therefore the major issue we might face if this campaign is successful would be a technical problem during production this spring which could delay deliveries by one or two months. Should such an unexpected problem happen, you would be the first ones to be personally informed by you Schneider&Co Kickstarter team.
Do not hesitate to contact us directly firstname.lastname@example.org. Alain is in charge. We will be more than happy to provide you with detailed and further information regarding the project and your watch status.
Let's make this happen with your support and get the very best value for your money. Your dedicated Schneider&Co's Kickstarter team.
As you might not be able or willing to back this project for the moment we propose you to become a Schneider&Co's supporter and be part of this new community.
Every donator will appear on our website's Wall of Fame.
