Liquid Metal is a 3D/Adventure/Platformer set in Xenobia, an all-robot utopia that just got invaded by...humans! Can Doug rescue his girlfriend and save the world before it’s too late?
Since its inception, Xenobia has been a world of peaceful precision. But that all changed with the arrival of the humans, a race of crude, crass, meaty invaders who seem to think of Xenobia's inhabitants as little more than darling collectibles. Now on the brink of destruction, Xenobia's future looks bleak. However, all is not lost: an unassuming robot named Doug and a few stragglers have managed to escape capture - and Dr. Podd has a plan, if Doug can find him in time!
Doug begins his adventure rolling his way through Syntak City's intricate levels and expansive topography. By earning power-ups, he can install new weapons and abilities, becoming the ultimate human-fighting machine!
Just a few of Doug's power-ups: Fast Ball, High Jump, Booster Pack, Thud Attack, Spin Attack, Dash Attack! The humans won't know what hit them!
Along his journey, Doug meets a variety of colorful characters who help him with everything from tips to mini games.
We've chosen Kickstarter to raise the necessary funds to complete Liquid Metal. We wanted to turn to the very people that love games like Mario 64 and Jak & Daxter just like us. If you love goal-based adventure games, this is your chance to help bring one to life!
It's also very important to us to retain full creative control over the game's development. Kickstarter allows us to make the game the way we want to make it, without investors or publishers telling us what to do or not to do. We will have the freedom to think outside the box and make something truly unique and creative without limits! And better yet, Kickstarter lets us connect with the very people who will be playing our game so we can get feedback along the way. With your help, we can make something stellar together!
That being said, we would be open to a publisher only if these core values would be preserved in doing so :)

Join us on our crazy quest to bring the world of Xenobia to life! Since day one, we've been documenting everything that's gone into the game's development, the good, the bad, and the...well, you get the idea. This is your chance to ride shotgun! We'll be releasing a full-fledged documentary with interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and insights into the people behind the pixels.

As an added bonus, we'll be assembling a full-color Liquid Metal Adventure book (PDF / hardcover, based on backer level) with over 100 pages of Liquid Metal content! The book will include concept art, full resolution renders, information, lore, technical world info, character profiles, stories, scrapped ideas and characters, decision explanations, and will pretty much be THE encyclopedia for all things Liquid Metal.
If funded, Liquid Metal will be released for Steam, Windows, Mac, Linux. However, the exact release timing and scope of each version will be determined by the success of this Kickstarter campaign.
We recently put up some Liquid Metal content on Steam Greenlight to gauge public interest, and managed to get ourselves green-lit!
We currently have an "Alpha Demo" that is almost complete with the exception of a few bugs that need ironing out. We're looking to assemble a small team of programmers and designers to complete the rest of the game over the next year .
If our initial goal is met, we will have the base funds to finish Liquid Metal on our own. However, if we exceed our initial goal, we have a number of stretch goals that we would love to reach to make Liquid Metal even more awesome! We would also be able to hire a lot more help to expedite the game's release and make the world of Xenobia even more expansive, and better detailed.
With your help, we can make Liquid Metal the best game it can be! Please take a minute to contribute something (large or small) and thanks for taking the time to check us out!
Risks and challenges
Crowdfunding an indie game comes with its own rewards and its own challenges. To negate the risks, we've made sure that Liquid Metal's core - game mechanics, game play, story, etc. - is sound, and we made sure we did so using our own time and money. We think it's important to show our commitment before we ask for yours. That's why we wanted to have a working, playable demo before looking for backers to help us make it the rest of the way. With proper funding, we can take the Liquid Metal demo and build up the rest of Xenobia around it. All we need is the time and resources to do so. Hence the reason for this Kickstarter.
You've got nothing to lose if we don't reach our goal. If we DO reach our goal, there's so much to gain. Either way, transparency is key.
