Streetmosphere was created and launched by Beet Street in 2010 as a way to support and share the amazing local arts and culture of Fort Collins. Most residents are familiar with the more than 300 free performances that happen during the spring and summer months. There is music, dance, visual art, theater and more.
What you may not know, is that Streetmosphere costs nearly $80,000 to produce each year and Beet Street pays the artists who perform for you. The program has been funded by local businesses and organizations, so that you can experience free arts programming all summer long.
Since 2010, more than 50 funders have supported Streetmosphere. Surprisingly, this year we experienced a 25% decline in financial contributions.
We need your help to kickstart Streetmosphere so that we do not have to scale back the program. We know that our community will pitch in to keep it strong.
The impact of Streetmosphere is felt far and wide:
• It brings a wide variety of free art to everyone, including kids and people who otherwise might not be able to afford the experience.
• It benefits local businesses by bringing increased foot traffic and sales.
• It pays artists and allows them to market their work to new audiences.
• People love it!
If we raise our minimum goal of $17,000 we can keep our season going through Labor Day, as usual. Otherwise, we will have to cut an entire month of performances in Old Town.
By getting involved with the Kickstarter campaign, you are directly supporting local artists and keeping your community creative.
There are great incentives for making a donation at every level.
One of the items at nearly every level is a Shout Out ticket. Simply hand the Shout Out ticket to any Streetmosphere performer and they will make the announcement you write on the back. Here is a little illustration explaining how to use a Shout Out ticket:
A limited-edition Streetmosphere tote bag is also offered at nearly every level, which we are printing especially for this Kickstarter. This is an idea of what that awesome tote bag will look like:
Several (signed!) CDs have been donated by Streetmosphere musicians that appreciate the power of the program. Donate at this $50 level early to have your choice from the following artists: Bev Wasserman Band, Colleen Crosson, Steve Eulberg, Fiddle Whamdiddle, Russ Hopkins, Lee Holiday & The Time Off, Branden Sipes, Mark Sloniker, Matt Smiley, and Andrew Vogt. The CDs will be distributed on a first-come first-served basis.*
Local artists that enjoy the marketing power of Streetmosphere have also donated original works of art. Several of the works donated have already been pledged for, but below is an acrylic painting in progress from Amelia Caruso at the $900 level (right). We don't have a picture of the final painting that has been donated, because it is a personal portrait of You by Diane Findley! The two paintings on the left are examples of other portraits Diane has painted. A portrait would be a great way to memorialize or honor someone special.
Another incentive that doesn't exist until you make it happen is the private concert with Liz Barnez and Wendy Woo! Imagine the two images below combined, only with 100 of your friends instead of the crowd at the last Wendy Woo Band concert. Then think about the big birthday, anniversary, or other milestone you need to celebrate with a bang! Remember, this opportunity includes a private concert AND an awesome venue - the Carnegie library courtyard!
Several levels also include an invitation to this year’s end of season Streetmosphere party. This includes performances from the T-Band and more!
New levels have been added!
Bas Bleu Theatre has donated tickets to see the Comedy Brewers during a shows on one of the following Sunday evenings: June 16, July 14, August 4, September 8, October 13, November 10, or December 8. An evening of Comedy Brewers combines the fast pace of hilarious short-form improv games along with long-form style that collaboratively tells a story. From comedy to drama, short scenes to full length epics, The Comedy Brewers will engage and entertain audiences with rich characters and relationships. Brewed right here in Fort Collins, this tasty, well-rounded improv group is at the top of the craft.
West Coast Swing has also donated several Level 1 Group Swing Lessons so you can dance the night away!
*Note: we ask that all premiums be picked up during business hours at the Beet Street offices at 200 Mathews St, Fort Collins, CO.

Risks and challenges
Without this funding we will have to scale back the program, cutting performances and time slots. Specifically, we will have to CANCEL the month of August and every Friday. With this funding we will be able to keep August performances on the roster, but we will still have to cancel Fridays unless we surpass our goal.
Streetmosphere was designed to be scalable in this way, but we want to keep the program strong and running all summer long.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
