Welcome to our Kickstarter project, we’re glad you stopped by! We need your help to take our super tasty wine jellies to the next level! We’re changing our ingredients over to organic, all natural, and local, and making the move to a certified kitchen so Ryan can sell his amazingly delicious jellies in retail stores.
Not too complicated, but it will take some long hours, hard work, and increased initial expenses. That’s where you and Kickstarter come in. The money that is pledged on Kickstarter will allow us to do things like:
-Order our organic ingredients in bulk from local producers and small businesses
-Move into a certified facility for wholesale production
-Apply for our USDA organic certification
-Purchase a color printer for our labeling
-Place a bulk order of jars, lids, and labels for our first wholesale production run
But wait, what *is* wine jelly?!
Wine jelly is just that, jelly that is made from wine. No, it won’t get you drunk, and yes it’s okay for everyone to eat, even kids! It’s the wonderfully rich flavor of wine, paired with different fruits, spices, herbs, and even chocolate! Our jellies can be used in place of regular jellies, or, if you feel like living dangerously, they can become part of a sauce, glaze, dressing, marinade, dip, etc. The possibilities are endless!
Saucy Spirits wine jellies have become a hot commodity around town, from large arts festivals, to farmers’ markets, to bakeries, and more. We’re at the point where we need to take things up a notch, and start offering Ryan’s jellies to retail stores and gourmet shops around the country. That’s where your support comes in!
What’s so special about our jellies?
When we first started our business last year, we used the cheapest ingredients available, so we could maximize our profits. Through meeting local farmers and other vendors, we began to learn about all natural and organic foods and the impact that buying local has on the economy. Not only did this change our business plan, it has completely changed our whole lives! Now we strive to use only all natural, sustainable, or organic ingredients, and we source as much as possible from small, local farmers. Fresh ingredients, such as bean to bar chocolate made right here in Atlanta, or peaches that were just picked a few hours ago, give our jelly an amazing taste like no other. And of course, we can’t forget to mention the love that goes into each batch. When you really enjoy what you do, people can taste it with each and every bite.
What flavors do we offer?
Since we strive to use local products to make our jelly, our flavor offerings change periodically. Working with fresh products that are in season adds so much more to our finished product. We are currently offering the following:
Roasted Red Pepper Chardonnay
Dark Chocolate Cherry Cabernet Sauvignon
Pear Pinot Grigio with Brown Sugar and Vanilla
Peach White Zinfandel infused with Mint and Ginger
Tomato Basil Table Red
Pumpkin Spice Chardonnay
Who are we?
Ryan has been affectionately dubbed the “Jellyman.” He has been making his jellies since last summer, and is quite the entrepreneur. He loves to share his jelly ideas with others and spread the message that you don’t have to be an adult to start a business doing something you love. He always has new flavor ideas and recipes to try, and is constantly reading about and researching different wine and food pairings. He makes each batch by hand from start to finish, so he can be sure it comes out perfect each time.
Tiffany is the “real” business owner, but only in the sense that Ryan can’t legally own a business at 11 years of age. She handles the marketing, transportation, purchasing, and event booking. The running joke among family and friends is that she needs a shirt that says “Wine Wench,” because, as she tells everyone, “I just buy the booze and drive the van.” Really, however, she does so much more than that, because she supports Ryan in following his dreams, and encourages him to never limit himself just because society says he’s too young. As a mom to six, all of her children are involved in business, one way or another. While Ryan is sharing his love for food, she is sharing the message that children are capable of doing so much more than we give them credit for. That children *can* be anything they want to be, as long as we are behind them 100%.
So that’s our story, and we hope to have you join us on our journey to get Ryan’s jelly to the big city. We’ve put together a whole list of rewards for our wonderful backers, from mini jars to customized cases. You can find all of those on the right side of your screen. Feel free to check us out on Facebook, and please don’t hesitate to email or comment with any questions you may have. Thank you so much for your support!
