You may order our educational materials after the Kickstarter campaign at the MamaYala website.
I wanted to teach my young daughter to appreciate and respect the world around her. Since she was a baby she was surrounded by books, toys, and different educational activities. It is natural for children to learn as they play and explore their environment. As she grew and learned, I used every opportunity to introduce her to new experiences. It was then that I set out to find cultural educational materials, in particular flashcards.
Around the same time, I was re-touching the images I illustrated for my children’s book about Puerto Rico. As I worked on the book for publication I realized my illustrations could be used for the cards. Using my skills as a teacher and designer I developed the concept for MamaYala World Cultures. My mission is to highlight the beauty and diversity inherent in the cultures of the world. It is my goal to promote a sense of community, admiration and respect for one another.
With our first cards series you are invited to introduce the young people in your life to the Latin culture. The set includes illustrations of artifacts, flora, fauna and instruments. It also includes an information guide with each illustration. Please join us by pre-ordering your cards today and be part of MamaYala World Cultures. Thanks!
I have made a prototype of the cards sets to show you what the cards would look like when they are printed.
There are several rewards for your pledges and support of the MamaYala™ World Cultures Project. When the Kickstarter campaign is funded by people like you, I will be able to bring you a set of flash cards, a memory game, a pdf coloring book, a poster, postcards and stickers, all with the beautiful original illustrations by Sara Ponce.
With your help MamaYala™ will be able to bring you cultural educational cards for children about the Latin American and Spanish cultures.
This project will only be possible with your pledge to pre-order the cards or with your contribution. Thank you for supporting the MamaYala World Cultures Project.

This is how the funds will be used:
Design work: I have already done the illustrations for the project and may need some minor adjustments. The design for the packaging will be done once the campaign is funded. I will be doing all the design work. There will be no extra costs.
Printing: The bulk of the money, about 75%, will go towards printing costs.
Project Fees: Kickstarter and Amazon charge an administration fee.
Shipping: All shipping costs for deliveries in the United States and Puerto Rico will be paid with the funds collected.
With your pre-order we will get the funding needed to make this project a reality! Thanks!
