Illustrator Sara Gross is sketching Rebuild: Gangs of Deadsville characters live today and Thursday afternoon on her Twitch TV stream. I'll also be there to answer questions about the game and Kickstarter campaign, and Adam and Stephen may pop in. Come hang out with us, we're there right now:

The Luddies make their own clothing out of hemp and goat wool. Sure there's still plenty on the racks at the local mall, but hand sheared goat wool just feels better.

Recent Press

People have been talking about Rebuild: Gangs of Deadsville all over the interwebs this month... including me! In a couple interviews I reveal my not so secret secrets of game development.

Adam is taking fan suggestions to heart this week and re-evaluating the scariness of our zombies. It's all a work in progress folks!

Thanks to you the project's surpassed it's goal and reached $30k! We've got ten days to go and are so close to the first stretch goal of 3 extra factions. Not that I'm getting my hopes up, but I might ask Sara to sketch a couple of them this week. ;)

Really liking how much a couple of subtle things have changed that pic. It seems to have a much better balance of creepy without being too grim now.

I'm a little different. The gameplay is the key for me.

A step in the right direction.

@Andrew Exactly! The hat gesture is definitely too human. It's hard to believe a zombie would even manage to keep it's hat, let alone notice it was gone in the first place. Facial expressions beyond 'zoned out' or 'eat you' are a big no-no too. Probably wanna move away from 'green people with bad dental work'.

@Woolfe True enough but would want to keep them off the cover.

If I had to pick a favorite, I'd say the center one in pink looks best.

Also, is it too late to change the "Gangs of Deadsville" subtitle? Can work with "Gangs of" but Deadsville sounds pretty lame. Maybe Parksville is a poor base to start with. Surely there must be a better pun/bastardization of language that sounds better.

      From Update #1
      "The Rotten

Not all zombies are alike; in fact some of them manage to keep their wits about them, more or less. Unfortunately they still look and smell like rotting walking corpses, so most of them get shot on sight by humans. But a few have moved underground and are living a marginal life, hoping someday to find a cure for their illness."

I agree with Andrew. Perhaps what I find off-putting about that image is that the front zombie is self-aware.

Regarding Zombies - I don't necessarily think scary and gore are needed. Comic (like the 4 in the background) are okay - It's just that the front zombie is showing AWARENESS and PERSONALITY.

Zombies should be zombies - mindless, automated, and unaware.

That front zombie looks better now, its more mean. I look forward to the new zombies :D woot!
