Another day in Hollywoodland! I am so fortunate.

Another incredible day in Hollywoodland!! 3 day workshop with Joan Scheckel blew my mind out of my head - one of the most awkward, challenging, weird, incredible experiences of my creative life to date. Directing is a JOB; a really complicated, magical, incredible alchemist job, that I am learning how to ACTUALLY DO, step by step, beat by beat until it's memorized in my body. And doing really uncomfortable acting exercises, kissing people I wouldn't normally kiss, showing sides of myself I am terrified to show, learning how to NOT smile... WEIRD, HARD, INTENSE. Just the same level of horrifying stuff I am about to ask my actors to do. Great lesson in empathy.  Makes me crazy excited to properly break down my script, cast and MAKE!

Knackered OUT.

4hr test shoot at "bootcamp" yesterday - and going to edit this morning. I learned some things that I already know very well... casting is really, uh like really, really uh REALLY important. And then I learned some new things, like don't try to crack jokes with a crew you don't even know? Maybe? and some other things that I won't know until I go to the edit. It's getting REALLL!
