Hello, my name is Antonio and I’m the Creative Director for Sapphire Dragon Productions and head writer, director and composer for “The Agency: Chapter One”. First of all I would like to thank those of you that have bought and played “The Agency: Chapter One”. It’s thanks to people like you that we are able to do what we do professionally and I sincerely hope that you have enjoyed the game.
For those of you that have not played Chapter One yet I am happy to announce that we have currently put Chapter One on discount on steam. So please check it out and if you really want to find out what happens next then please come on back to our kickstarter page to find out how you can help us.
On the 14th of July 2016 we launched “The Agency: Chapter One” and since it’s launch it has been met with brilliant reviews yet mediocre sales. We have also received fantastic feedback from fans on the steam forum and on YouTube and have been frequently asked about a potential release date for the sequel.
We’ve come to understand that perhaps “The Agency” is not a Visual Novel that has mass market appeal but meant a lot to the few that did play it and we do feel a bit bad that we’ve had to shelve any potential sequels due to it’s market performance.
So we wanted you, the players, to help decide whether this adventure could continue. We’ve decided to launch a Kickstarter for Chapter Two to raise the money to allow us to create Chapter Two without risking a big loss on it. Chapter Two was slated to be a lot longer than Chapter One and would take a few months to produce. Now we are not a triple-A studio so a few months spent on a project that then makes little money represents a significant risk for us. Which is why we need your help to give us the buffer we need to complete the game.
Now I’d like to make something perfectly clear; we will not be relying on you guys for the entire cost of the game. That would be unfair. We will still pay for a lot of the running and ancillary costs for the game development and for a lot of the assets involved, we are only asking for some help for some of the art that is being put into the game. A thousand dollars isn’t really enough money to make a game with the amount of polish that “The Agency” has, it’s just a small amount we’re asking for to help us finish this game.
Below you will find the link to Chapter One and details showing where we will be investing the money we raise on Kickstarter.
Thank you so much for your support and keep being awesome everyone!

Risks and challenges
There are many challenges and difficulties in making video games. Video games are costly to make due to the time and effort needed to make them and the amount of assets used.
For a small studio like ours the biggest difficulty lies in the fact that since we are not as big or as established as AAA studios or even most Indie studios that we can't command the power of publishers and huge marketing campaigns, which is why we came to Kickstarter to ask for your help!
Also we can't make huge games in the fashion that AAA studios do and we have to be extra creative and witty to solve our problems.
Our strength also happens to lie in our size, since we are a small team costs are relatively low and if we need to ever take a directional change in production it is a lot easier for us to do so (think about how much easier it is to turn a small boat compared to something like an oil tanker.)
Another advantage we have is that we own our offices and all our equipment so our only costs are everyday running costs like electricity, food and water. We have also been operating as a business for more than a year, therefore chances of bankruptcy and us closing shop are very low.
Sapphire Dragon Productions has a proven track record in producing Visual Novels and Adventure games. We have continued to deliver title after the other when promised. We also haver experience and expertise fulfilling and supplying customer physical orders through other businesses.
The team comes from a very mixed professional background and that is our greatest strength as we are bringing so much from so many different industries (IT, software engineering, music industry, advertising industry, live events) that we make a truly unique team with a vast body of knowledge.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
