Working 40, 50, or 60 hours a week is hard enough on us. But what about the silent, hairy majority? Our dogs are left alone to entertain themselves for hours on end in kitchens, living rooms and backyards. But what if that didn't have to be the case?
Help the GoBone keep rolling and unlock cool extras!
The GoBone doubles as the world’s first gaming device made specifically for you and your dog. Enjoy new ways to play together and improve your bond when you pair the GoBone with your smartphone. Level up, share achievements, and compete with friends in all GoBone games.
GoBone Fetch. This game is similar to Nintendo Wii™ Bowling. But instead of launching a virtual bowling ball with your Wiimote™, you launch the GoBone across the room with your mobile device. Your dog then fetches the GoBone so you can keep launching it. No more throwing things around the house and breaking things.
GoBone Hide-and-Seek. Fill the GoBone with food or treats and hide it around the house. The GoBone will stay still until it detects your dog has found it. Then the GoBone wakes up to play.
The GoBone is droolproof, waterproof and ruggedized. Dog-proof quick-release buttons allow you to remove the shell, wheels, and other parts that come in contact with your dog. Wash them if they’re dirty or replace them with new ones if they’re worn out. You won’t need to buy another brand-new GoBone due to wear and tear on the outer components.
We’re VERY passionate about improving the lives of the dogs that need it the most, and our team actively volunteers at local shelters and rescues. By backing our Kickstarter, you’re not only doing something great for your pup, but also for the many other dogs that don’t have the luxury of a dedicated owner.
Shelters are typically resource-limited and they may not have the means to provide each dog with enough mental and physical stimulation during their stay. With the GoBone, dogs get more exercise without the need for the shelter to hire more resources (additional hiring is usually not an option due to limited funds). The GoBone also provides a way to exercise dogs that are difficult to handle, animal-aggressive, or have health issues such as grass allergies. And potential adopters can interact with the dogs quickly and easy with the GoBone app, helping to establish a bond and potentially leading to more adoptions.
“I was working 60, 70 hours a week, and Rufus was stuck at home with nothing to do. As someone who actively volunteers in animal shelters, I know how much being alone can stress a dog. So I decided to make a change for the better. I quit my job in 2015 and have spent all that time working on something that makes dogs happier and healthier, and gives us new ways to interact with our pups.
I believe the GoBone could be exactly what shelter dogs need to get socialized and move up their adoptable dates. If even one dog gets a new home because of the GoBone, it was all worth it.”
Santiago designed and built the first GoBone prototype in 2014. Since then, he’s put together a team of engineers and designers that share his passion for animals and technology. This is our journey!
We used 3D-printed parts and open-sourced hardware and software for the original prototype and controller. We replaced the controller with the GoBone app a few months later.
Then we tested the GoBone on over 120 dogs for over 1,000 hours! Once we saw the impact it had on dogs both in homes and in shelters, we decided to introduce it to the Kickstarter community.
We’ve already done most of the work. We created our own electronics and software. Here’s version 1 of the GoBone circuit board. It’s aliiiiive!
In parallel, we designed and tested lots of shell, core, and wheel iterations before finalizing our design.
Our patent-pending software custom-tailors the GoBone experience for your individual dog based on their age, weight, breed, individual play patterns, and other variables. This level of personalization and customization allows the GoBone to engage your dog both longer and more often than anything else on the market.
Since every dog requires a different amount of daily activity, our algorithms ensure that your pet gets just the right level of exercise throughout the day. The GoBone also detects when it has hit an obstacle or gotten stuck and automatically frees itself. No more getting stuck under the couch or against a wall.
The GoBone features an ultra-low power Bluetooth Smart system on a chip, a 3-axis accelerometer, two brushed DC motors, and an 800 mAh battery. Our PCB design and architecture is complete and ready for production.
Creating a physical product is enormously expensive, but all things are possible with the help of our awesome community! Kickstarter funds will go toward product development, manufacturing, and production. It’s time to purchase tooling and components for production, and we’ll need YOUR help to make it happen!
Also, dog treats. Because who’s a good boy? Who’s a good boy?
Want to be one of the first few people to own a GoBone? We’ll create a limited number of pre-production units to share with our GoBone Experience Team (those that chose the Rare Breed perk). These units are expected to have all the same features and functionality as the final production-level GoBone. However, we may make changes to the GoBone design before mass production in order to improve the final product.
As part of the GoBone Experience Team, you’ll get a chance to influence the final version of the GoBone with your feedback. We’ll provide 1:1 support to get you up and running with the GoBone, if needed, and host a regular video conference to make sure everything is going great!

Risks and challenges
We’ve been working on the GoBone for over two years. We’ve taken the time to get almost everything in place before launching our campaign. We wanted to reduce the risk to our backers by delaying the launch of our campaign until we proved the GoBone’s design with enough dog testing and completed DFM. Our engineering team has worked together for many years and is very experienced.
We have partnerships with manufacturers in the USA and we’ve created a robust supply chain. The GoBone is designed for mass production, and during the production process, we expect to make minor changes to optimize the design and to satisfy regional requirements. We are currently testing our final GoBone prototype. On the logistics side, we’ve established partnerships with two US fulfillment centers and international shippers to deliver your GoBone on time.
We’ll keep you posted throughout the entire production process and do everything we can to make good on our estimated shipping date.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
