The mission of the Indigo Magic is to provide premier exhibition experience for the diverse communities of Baltimore and beyond that presents the connections between Sub-Sahara West Africa and the work of Artists of African American descent offering a vital cultural experience.

Indigo Magic presents works by African-American artists who utilize the hues, the pigment, and at some points the immense spirit of indigo. The art forms include painting, sculpture, ceramics, fiber, and performance. The magic of indigo is evident in its impact, which is as broad and varied as its history. 
The exhibition will take place at the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Museum is located within the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park. The park is an educational and national heritage site that highlights African American maritime history. 
The combination of Kickstarter and your support will assist in bringing this vision to life, as well as to create an exhibition catalog and commemorative poster. Risks and challenges

Coming May 3, 2016, "Indigo Magic", a group exhibition at the Frederick Douglass Isaac Myers Museum featuring visual artists Larry Poncho Brown, Karen Y. Buster, Ursula Cain-Jordan, Carren Clarke-McAdoo, Maurice Evans, Maria Therese Fernandez, Espi Frazier, Winston Harris, E. Lyle Henderson, LaToya Hobbs, Jimi King, Grace Kisa, Theresa Reuter, Ernest Shaw Jr., Sherry Shine, Valerie Smith, Jeffery Weatherford, and Jerome White. The exhibition will also feature performance art by Joyce J. Scott, Gary Richardson, Cloud Kickers International, Sankofa Dance Theater, and BaltimoreGirls by SuperFly Safi.

The “Indigo Magic” exhibition is affiliated with Maryland Institute College of Art. It is a thesis project for the completion of the Curatorial Practice MFA 2016.

Artist Reception: Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Frederick Douglass Isaac Myers Museum, 1417 Thames Street, Baltimore, MD.
