Myriad Quest will be a self-contained, 48-page graphic novel written and drawn by Matt Howarth and produced by Sanguine Games, makers of the Myriad Song role-playing game. With your support, we'll be producing the book in both print and electronic versions.
MATT HOWARTH is a veteran of the graphic storytelling industry, whose work has appeared in Doom Patrol, Heavy Metal, Justice League Society, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transmetropolitan and SF Worldcon Books. He has also produced many of his own comic-book series, such as Kief Llama: Xenotech, Konny & Czu, and Those Annoying Post Brothers.
SANGUINE PRODUCTIONS has produced critically-acclaimed games such as Ironclaw, Albedo, Noggle Stones, Usagi Yojimbo, and, of course, Myriad Song.

Myriad Song Stretch Goals
$25,000 = ADVENTURE ADD-ON. If the graphic novel proves popular enough, we'll set up the characters, places, and scenes into a gaming supplement for Myriad Song, with all kinds of side-quests and bonus content.
$33,000 = COLOR UPGRADE. At our base goal, the book will be drawn in Matt Howarth's iconic black-and-white style, which keeps printing and production costs modest and responsible. ... However, if we can reach this stretch goal, we'll upgrade the book to full color for all pledgers at no extra cost!
$42,000 = BONUS FEATURES. If we hit this goal, we'll add backup features from guest artists and writers. Once again, all this content will be added for all pledgers, as a big thank-you for your support!
$51,000 = INCREASED PAGE COUNT. There are over ten-thousand stories to tell of the Myriad Worlds. If we can reach higher funding goals, we will expand the story to include more characters and more sub-plots.
Risks and challenges
When Matt Howarth told us his vision of a new book, we were very excited! A graphic novel is a serious undertaking -- drafting, writing, illustrating, lettering, pasting-up, printing ... but we've re-tooled our projects around so we can get this project to work.
Our first attempt at crowd-funding did not meet the original goal ... but your response was so strong, it was clear that people wanted to see this book happen. Matt Howarth showed up the pre-production work already in the planning stages... It was clear we could meet our production deadlines. So what to do?
The answer was clear: re-do the numbers.
At Sanguine, we are committed to responsible, practical development of our projects. Because of community support already out there for IRONCLAW and MYRIAD SONG, we have re-budgeted our yearly schedule to make this project work. The Kickstarter funds will finance the printing and the postage of the early rewards, but our revenue for the long-term of the project will be from ongoing sales.
After printing and postage, the rest of the money goes straight to Matt Howarth. Sanguine is committed to supporting artists and their art. If you don't pledge today, please consider buying a copy later when it goes on sale in the mass market, as all the profits will be going straight to the artist.
We've had three successful crowd-fundings so far -- two of them through Kickstarter -- and we've delivered on all of them. We've produced books before with these margins, and we can do it again, with your help. Thank you for your support.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
