The magazine will tell personal stories of both legendary and soon-to-be legendary people who help to create Berlin's famous reputation.
Nothing is too crazy, too naked or too strange for Playful. Our magazine is for those who are curious and want to lift the lid on the culture and nightlife of one of the world's most fearless cities. We are uncensored, raw and playful. We invite those who want to explore more about Berlin to join us!
In the debut issue, readers will get under the skin of Berlin's famous Scotty The Blue Bunny, Berlin-based and up-and-coming artist Special K, and a woman who is selling dick pics she receives online as pins outside some of Berlin's legendary night clubs. We also dig deeper into the natural wine trend with Rocket Wine's founder Jeff, and giving you the most insightful club guide there is this autumn.

THE TEAM BEHIND PLAYFUL
Playful is founded by Swedish journalists and content writers, Amanda and Filip Sandström Beijer. Their years of experience in lifestyle and entertainment journalism is combined with the creative genius of Art Director, Carla Young (@carla.palette), and together they have created Playful from a seed of an idea to the first prototype issue.
WHERE DID THE IDEA COME FROM?
When Amanda and Filip moved to Berlin, they desperately tried to find alternative stories and magazines in English to welcome them to the city. As both of them had a big interest in the nightlife, alternative culture and entertainment scene, they found that what they wanted did not exist in the market already. The expat magazines available were targeting too wide an audience and included everything from society issues and public protests to restaurant reviews.
They wanted something more than that, something that dug deeper. Therefore, Playful does not believe in covering anything and everything, but is instead about curating quality over quantity. Each issue will be filled with interesting personas and mind-blowing stories from Berlin's joyful life.
A PRINTED MAGAZINE IN A DIGITAL ERA? YOU MUST BE KIDDING ME!
As well as the beautiful monthly printed edition, Playful will, also be available online. But in a time where people are over-using their smartphones we want to rebel! Playful is the metaphoric club sticker on your iPhone. We want to create an alternative to the digital reading and produce an old school, quality magazine that becomes your friend at your local café, bar or u-bahn. It will become your essential guide. You will associate with it, collect it, and never want to be without it.
As the team includes a former Social Media Manager, with experience in working with large brands, and a graphic designer with experience of all the coolest most colorful brands, we will obviously be all over social media too.
The printed edition will be the LP record that had a come back. It has both the retro coolness and the high-quality content that people look for. Oh yeah, and it's free!
WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE?
The goal is to print an initial 5k copies of our first issue to be available from our distributors (hand-picked cafés, bars, and restaurants etc.) in October. This is our business schedule that your donations will help us with.

To get off the ground and produce quality journalism and art work, we need a kickstart. The contributors working with Playful so far have worked at below-market-rates because they believe in the concept.

Risks and challenges
Producing the first issue of the magazine is quite risk free.
The most of the content is produced by the co-owners and journalists themselves and the brand manager is involved as a partner in the company.
Since we have putted all our own capital in this project, we now need your help to get the magazine printed and to produce the marketing costs etc.
The challenge will be to get the magazine up and running on its own feet, after the first issue. We are self confident, but not afraid to say it is a challenge.
