I am launching this Kickstarter campaign in hope of funding the development and publishing of the book "Anatomy for Sculptors".
"Anatomy for Sculptors" is going to be a 200-page, soft cover book with detailed images and colorful graphics explaining everything you should know for sculpting, drawing or painting the human figure and portrait. The book is organized into sections that visually demonstrate anatomical concepts and sculpting methods for different parts of the human body. Each body part will be deconstructed into simple, easy to remember forms. By creating these primitive shapes, we will help you understand and learn the complex human body in a simple manner. Unlike regular anatomy books, we have implemented a method of coloring the muscles and exposing landmarks of bone structure. As well, the book will have a section of sculpting tips, tricks and secrets. The book will be an indispensable resource for practicing artists and art students. The essence of classical anatomy will be revealed in high resolution pictures and infographic images: the language of the 21th century.
My best friend Uldis Zarins is the mastermind behind the concept of "Anatomy for Sculptors". He is a classically trained sculptor with a degree in Arts (Sculpture) from the Art Academy of Latvia. He is an expert in classical sculpture and human anatomy. Since graduating in 2005 he has been working as a freelance sculptor and graphic designer.
I studied art since the age of 9. After more then sixteen years of art education, I hold a Masters of Art degree in the Humanities: Fine Arts and Visual Plastic Art (Sculpture) from the Art Academy of Latvia. Since graduating in 2006 I have been working as a freelance sculptor and travel around the world attending art festivals, exhibitions and contests.
Much of the pre-work is done. At the moment 25% of book’s content is ready! While building "Anatomy for Sculptors", we want to engage with our audience, get feedback and share the process of creating the book so we made a group called Anatomy 4 Sculptors on Facebook and a webpage www.anatomyforsculptors.com.

Risks and challenges
Most of the challenges have been solved already. I am confident that we will finish building the book on time. Our estimated delivery date is based on current speed, but if funding goes well, we might be able to accelerate up the process and deliver the books by the end of 2013.
Our plan is to print part of the books in the United States and part in the European Union, depending on where we have to mail the books. This way we can easily organize international distribution.
Once funded, we will outsource a programmer, editor and logistics expert.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
