In case I lose the rest of my memories, I'm recording these files to...

Ugh, wait. That's something the robot would say. Hang on.

Ahoy!

Ever walked into a room and thought, what did I come in here for? Ha! Silly me, you say, turning around to find your life’s disappeared behind you.

No? Oh.

My name’s Sam Sweetmilk. Captain Sam Sweetmilk if you trust the robot, which I very much do not. It has been seven days since I wiped my own memories using a sort of hat.

Spacehat.

Since the Day of the Spacehat I’ve found myself the unwilling cargo of great big glowing bidet, just left of the middle of bloody nowhere. Endless yawning bugger-all in every direction. Say, what’s out this window? Oh, space. And through this one? Hang on, what’s that there? What the bloody hell is… oh it’s space.

How can something be called 'big' when there's nothing in it?

Losing my memory is bad enough, but it sort of hasn’t stopped. I’m leaking. I’m even losing words as I say them.

Look at this control panel here. This bit, the wavy thing. I know to call it the shield oscillator. Now I think to myself, Sam, from where do you know that? What part of your past did that come from? And bam! What’s this called? NO BLOODY IDEA! Shield something. Gone. See you later.

So, what’s new? Updates. The nosebleeds have stopped but the unease is ongoing. Mainly I’m wallowing in it, because it’s a hazy aftertaste of a lost life and honestly I’m afraid to lose touch with it. Like a dream where it feels like, I was just there, but now…

...Anyway!! Ha! Better venture forward. Better sign off. We’re due at our destination in a few hours but we might get there early, who knows. It's the nearest inhabited system, and I have an odd confidence that they'll have some way to get my memories back.

If I don't make another recording then trust I died doing what I loved. Being me.

Tally ho!

RECORDING ENDS.

Yeah, this sounds awesome. And I can already hear it in his voice.
