Samsara is a board game for 3-8 players played on a round board. It is unique among board games because it is a multiplayer abstract strategy game that involves no luck and encourages players to negotiate. Once all players have placed their follower pawns on different lotus points around the edge of the board, each on their turn must use four moves between any combination of their follower pawns. Whenever a pawn is surrounded by a greater number of pawns, it is absorbed by one of the other pawns (the pawns are cone shaped and stack easily). Stacks may be up to 3 pawns, and the larger stacks can absorb smaller stacks by themselves. When a pawn absorbs a fourth pawn, the oldest pawn it its stack is removed from play (sent to Nirvana) and counts toward that player's victory point total. Most games last around 30-45 minutes, though experienced players and larger groups may take longer.
The components include an 8-page rule book with numerous illustrations, a tube of 40 cone pawns (5 each in 8 colors), and a 14-inch diameter board made of nylon over neoprene so that it rolls up and lies flat easily. Initial copies will be shipped in a tube 14 inches by 3 inches.
Your contributions will help to fund production of the game so that it can start building sales through our distribution network. The game has been thoroughly playtested for over 3 years and is ready to go into production. We have identified vendors for all the manufacturing work. All we require is the money to pay for the first production run, and the profits from that will be used to fund subsequent runs.
The game has garnered interest from gamers around the world and from some major retail chains, so there is a ready market. We hope to also market the game to Buddhists, because of the title and theme.
The projected retail price is US$24.95, and the initial production run is estimated at 1,300 units.
