Going out on a photoshoot
Mercy and I head out to shoot photos on Monday. As I make plans to visit interesting locations I've been researching web articles, studying Google Maps, zooming in close to see where the old buildings are located on hundreds and hundreds of miles of Oregon highways, and figuring out where the good places to eat can be found. I have some outfits for Mercy, a few props, and some vague ideas. It's all about getting there and then seeing what we come up with!
The cover shoot had a similar strategy: Mercy + outfit + props + location = see what happens. You never know! Photographing is improvising. It requires all these pieces, plus some inspiration and a bunch of luck. Will a great image be captured, or will I miss it by a millisecond? You never know until you get home and examine all the shots.
Like it's a flashback to 1993, I've printed out a bunch of maps and notes, because cell reception will probably be spotty out there in the middle of Oregon.
I'm betting we're going to create some great stuff while we're away. You'll see some shots soon.
