Thematically catapulting from a great deal of recent research and critical thought I've directed towards the professional wrestlers and wrestling of my youth, "Kayfabe: Game of Death" will
deal conceptually(not very literally) with a "sport" that is paradoxically the world's most theatrical and, by nature of its adherent lifestyle and demands, its most fatal. Incorporating other mythologies beyond the world of wrestling,(Greek, Peoples Temple, etc.) it will dovetail these conceptual conceits into heated discourse on ego, self-realization, mania, violence, and severe human tenderness.
"Kayfabe: Game of Death" is now scheduled to debut in Brooklyn, NY in November of 2010.
Scheduled to appear in "Kayfabe":
Katie Eastburn (Singer/dancer, formerly of Janet Pants Dans Theater & the band Young People)
Alexis Marcelo (Musician)
Noah Mickens (Actor and professional ringmaster, based in Portland, OR)
Mike Pride's Drummers Corpse (Led by Pride, a composition for nine-eleven drummers, guitar, and two vocalists/performance artists)
Steven Reker (Singer/choreographer, of People Get Ready)
Alan Sutherland (Butoh dancer and construction worker based in Seattle, WA, a veteran of several Villainaires Academy productions)
Due to some positively adjusted circumstances and subsequent budget readjustments I am re-upping the drive for support for "Kayfabe" with a lower goal in mind, but your aid is still of great need and value. The money raised here will aid in performer travel expenses and fees as well as costuming/set design elements.
