All Hands on Deck!
All Hands on Deck! is a quick, rummy-style auction game that is easy to learn and plays in 15 to 30 minutes. Are you pirate enough?
In All Hands on Deck!, each player takes the role of a pirate captain that is in port trying to replace lost crew members at the local tavern. You must carefully manage the crew you already have and outbid your opposing captains to acquire the sailors you need. You will also need to seize opportunities to play action cards where they will secure the greatest advantage at the auction block and outwit your fellow captains. Be the first to replenish your crew and put back out to sea with a shout of 'ALL HANDS ON DECK!'.
International Talk Like a Pirate Day video - We couldn't very well launch the campaign on 'International Talk Like a Pirate Day' and not talk like a pirate somewhere could we? In celebration of this great annual event, here is a short video explaining the theme of the game in one of the worst pirate voices you will ever hear. YARRR!!! http://youtu.be/j2dpvrWQfMw

Captain Josh says, "I just need stout planks and strong nails to keep me ship afloat. What are all of these other components?"
All Hands on Deck! is composed of 108 cards. There are two different types of cards: Pirate Crew cards and Action cards.
Pirate Crew Cards - These cards represent the remnants of three derelict crews (suits) that have limped back to port in ships too damaged to return to sea. There is the crew of the Stormsail, the crew of the Sea Sabre, and the crew of the Black Viper.
Within each crew, there are ten pirate ranks (numbers 1 - 10) representing the different jobs the sailors specialize in on a seafaring crew. These cards' numeric values represents the number of gold doubloons needed to buy potential crew members' loyalty and make them a part of the ship’s company.
There are also three of each pirate rank represented in each of the three crews. For example, there are three ‘First Mate’ rank cards from the crew of the ‘Stormsail’ in the deck.
Action Cards — These are special cards that allow your Captain to influence the auction process. These cards are aimed at creating an advantage or causing problems for the other Captains. All Action Cards are played as bid cards. There are 18 total Action cards in the deck.
Captain Josh says, "You'll not be telling me how to sail me own ship, but if ye want to grab a bucket and a mop and get to work, I may listen to yer tales."
The goal of the game is to build a winning hand containing a suitable crew of pirates for your ship. A winning hand can be formed in one of two ways: a captain can have a run of seven ranks in one crew, or a run of three ranks in all three of the crews.
The game begins with a first dealer being chosen who then deals out five cards to every player. Each turn thereafter, the dealer gives each pirate captain one new card at the beginning of each turn. The next card in the deck is then turned over and revealed. This card is now up for auction and each of the captains places as many of their own cards as desired face down in a blind bid for the card being auctioned.
After all of the captains have placed a bid or passed, all cards that have been bid are revealed. If there are any action cards in the bid, they are each resolved individually according to the description on the card itself. These are resolved in turn order starting at the dealer's left until they have all been resolved and removed from the table.
After resolving the action cards, the value of each captains bid is added up. This is the total value of all pirate crew cards that are laid down as part of their bid (action cards are worth zero to the bid value). The captain with the highest score is awarded the card up for auction. The deal is then passed to the next captain on the left and a new turn begins.
Play continues until a pirate captain forms a winning hand and shouts "All hands on deck!"
Captain Josh says, "Rules ain't for pirates!"

Here are just a couple of stretch goals we have lined up for the project. We will finalize the levels for each as the campaign gets underway; this is simply meant to give you a peak at what we have in mind.
UNLOCKED!! 400 LIKES = Upgrade the Deck - The quality of the cardstock will be improved to the more professional quality higher gsm cardstock to give a better overall feel to the game. The cards will have a better snap and that helps in making shuffling and fanning easier!
100% CAMPAIGN FUNDING = Dealer Doubloon - A custom metal dealer token will be created for you to move around the table to mark the current dealer. A mold has already been created by the fantastic craftsmen at Campaign Coins based upon an original pirate gold design illustrated by Darren Calvert.
This piece of pirate treasure won't curse you to an existence as the undead, but it will ensure you know whose deal it is at all times! While not absolutely required for the game, we did have several people ask about a dealer marker since the deal moves around the table. We reached into the ol' treasure chest and pulled this forth!
We are just a couple of gamer geeks from Oklahoma City. We both stay pretty busy with work, family, and trying to raise some young pirates of our own. In our free time, we make time for gaming, be it playing something with the kiddos, getting together with the gaming group, or sitting around creating something new. We truly believe that this hobby is unlike any other and want to contribute something meaningful to it in our own way. Thanks go out to everyone who has helped All Hands on Deck! along its way from bare-bones idea to the fun experience it is now and thank you for taking the time to check us out.
We were recently interviewed by the Oklahoma Game Development Blog and got a chance to talk about gaming as a hobby and this game in particular. Check the spot out here:

Risks and challenges
The game itself has been completed and playtested by many, many players ranging in age from 10 to 80. We really wanted to make sure it was fun for the whole family, so we adjusted and streamlined it until it was smooth running.
* The process of art development and graphic design is complete.
* Development and revision of the rulebook is complete.
* The box is being finalized now as the campaign nears kickoff.
Our plan is to have it all ready to send off to the printer just as soon as the campaign is over. Even though it required a much larger personal investment to get all of this done before the campaign, we felt it would pay off in the speed with which we could deliver once the campaign funded.
Because we have a significant investment of our own wrapped up in this project, you can rest assured that we will make every effort to bring it to completion as the best product possible. We will keep close control over the production process and will make you, our backers, aware of changes in status, should they occur.
As soon as All Hands on Deck! rolls off the presses and is shipped and delivered to our fulfillment locations, we will be fulfilling your Reward levels FIRST - before any other sales and distribution fulfillment - meaning that you will be the first to get the game in your hands and on your table! We realize that confidence in our efforts and in the process are key to making this a successful collaboration and we intend to deliver above and beyond what is necessary to the very best of our ability.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
