Official Release Date, Art Book Update, ECCC, and Seventh Circle for Switch (?!)

Posted by Rock Candy Games (Creator)

All right, folks, this is a BIG ONE, so buckle up. Here comes a bunch of very important updates.

  • First of all, we're ready to announce an official release date for Seventh Circle: the game will drop on June 4th, 2019. Yes, that represents a bit more of a delay from our target of April 2019, the reason being that the programming plan changed slightly (a boring story) and I (Anne) had to do a massive overhaul of the 100,000+ word script, which ended in a carpal tunnel attack (seriously). Obviously we wish we could've made April, but stuff happens, and we're HYPE about June.
  • Both Steam license keys and a direct download of the game will be available to backers. Steam keys and other digital downloads (Artbook PDFs, phone BGs, etc.) will launch on May 1st. The only thing that might come a little later is the minicomic, but we're working on it.
  •  Art books are finally in the late stages of production! We hope to have 'em in hand by the third week of March, and in your hands by the end of the month. We will let you know when they've arrived. As a reminder, if your rewards haven't shipped yet, they're probably waiting on an art book.
  • The backer-exclusive print included with some rewards is now an exclusive variant of the phone background Becca did. We really wanted to work with our friend Yoshi Yoshitani on that one, but scheduling didn't work out, so we hope you'll see some Seventh Circle art from Yoshi in the future instead. In the meantime, Becca's print looks EXCELLENT; see it at the bottom of this update. I personally can't wait to have a framed one.
  •  It's! Time! For! PRE-ORDERS! This might not be especially relevant for backers, but if you have friends who are slow on the uptake, you can let them know that preorders reopen Tuesday the 12th. There will also be a new trailer for the game in conjuction with the pre-orders.
  •  Becca and I will be at Emerald City Comic Con from March 14th-18th, Artist Alley Table Q8. We'll be selling preorders, giving out free prints to Seventh Circle fans (because we love you), and generally wigging about how close we are to being done.
  • And finally,we wanted to take y'alls temperature on something: we're curious about interest in seeing Seventh Circle come to the Switch. We both love that dang console, and it's the only one we think would really fit a game like 7C. Would you play Seventh Circle on the Switch? What if you had to repurchase it? Tell us how you feel in the comments, or shoot us a DM or email.

Okay, I think that's it. Is that enough info dumping for you? IS IT?

We hope to see you at ECCC, or just around.

Keep being awesome,

Anne & Becca

Fulfillment Update!

Posted by Rock Candy Games (Creator)

Hey everyone!

At this point, if you backed a tier with physical rewards, you should have gotten an email containing tracking info for your order! That's because we've generated shipping labels for ALL orders. Not all rewards have actually been shipped, however, because we're still waiting on a couple of items.

Here's a breakdown of when you should be getting your items, based on what was ordered:

My reward contains ONLY postcard print(s) and pin(s): Pins and postcard prints were the first items back from the manufacturers, and all packages containing JUST those items were shipped on Saturday. YAY!

My reward contains ONLY postcard print(s), pin(s), and a patch: Patches came in today, which means these packages should ship this week. Check your tracking info in a couple of days for an update.

My reward contains the letter-sized backer-exclusive print and/or an artbook: These two items aren't quite ready yet, but we hope to ship them in late February/early March. We'll update as soon as they arrive.

We want to thank you all for your patience with our new timeline. This process has thrown us a few curveballs and we're learning A TON from it, so the next time we do this, you can expect us to be stronger, better, faster, etc.

As for the game itself, we're coming into the home stretch. We hope to be able to share some gameplay previews next month.

Keep on keepin' on,

Anne & Becca

ONLY ONE WEEK remaining to update your shipping addresses!

Posted by Rock Candy Games (Creator)

Happy new year, folks!

This time next week, I (Anne) will be on my way to Madison, Wisconsin, where Becca and I will be starting the process of physical reward fulfillment for Seventh Circle. The merch is starting to come in and we have a label printer and everything! This is wild stuff.

With that in mind, you have one week remaining to update your shipping addresses in BackerKit. How do you do that? By visiting and recovering your survey, then entering your updated shipping address when prompted. We will send a final reminder on Tuesday, January 22nd, and then you'll have 48 hours to make a last change.

Having accurate addresses for y'all means no returned packages, which means cheaper shipping fees for us and less time between you and your rewards. So please, if your address has changed since Spring/Summer 2018, update it or double check!

Physical rewards will be going out between the last week of January and the launch of the game in April, based on manufacturing times for different items. If you know your address might be different in April but you aren't sure of a new address yet, please reach out to us and we'll figure out a solution.

Here's a sneak preview of the enamel pins, which turned out incredibly cool. I can't wait to get mine? ANYWAY.

Peace, love, and magic,

Anne & Becca

October & November Update: Release Date Announcement, Patreon Pause, and More!

Posted by Rock Candy Games (Creator)

Hi everyone! Happy fall. We have some pretty big announcements regarding the game’s release date, physical reward fulfillment, and so on.

1. We are setting Seventh Circle’s official release date for April 2019. We anticipated having the game done by December, but here’s the thing: it ended up longer than we thought! We’re talking several extra hours of content—the total script for this thing is going to be between 180,000 and 200,000 words, which is about the same length as The Goblet of Fire. We originally anticipated between 125,000 and 150,000 words. More words take more time to write, obviously. But, by delaying the release date a few months we can give you significantly more story and a better game overall. We want our game to be the best it can be. Since we’re essentially a two-person team and this is our first project of this exact nature, we want to avoid running ourselves into the ground to create Seventh Circle, without sacrificing quality — we believe in keeping creators happy and healthy so they can make their best work, and we can’t except ourselves from that rule. So that means we need a little more time. We appreciate the support and love you all have heaped on us (HEAPED!) and we think you’re going to love this expanded final product.

2. Physical rewards will now ship in January. The game itself is the only thing being pushed to April. You will have until January 15th, 2019 to update your shipping addresses in BackerKit, via this URL:

3. Our Patreon is paused for the time being! We’ve decided to hold off on producing extra canon content until the game is 100% finished and released. Patrons are likely already aware of this change, but in case you missed that announcement, here’s a heads up.

Those are the three big things. We also want to give a shout-out to anyone we saw at a convention—FlameCon, Keystone, or NYCC! It was amazing to meet backers in person, and hear how excited you are for the game.

Finally, we want you all to know that we’re open to any and all questions from our backers. Please feel free to open a line of communication with us if you have questions, comments, concerns, etc. We know that a delayed release date is nobody’s favorite thing in the world, and we are happy to chat with you all more about the game and the new, very beefy and delicious story content we’re adding.

Thank you, sincerely. And keep being awesome.

August & September Update!

Posted by Rock Candy Games (Creator)

Hi everyone!

This is a DOUBLE UPDATE for the months of August and September, because you may have noticed that you didn't hear from us in August. There's a pretty simple reason for that, which is: we've been super busy! We've done two conventions since mid-August (Flamecon and Keystone) and have another one coming up (New York Comic Con, October 4th - 7th; we also spent a week in a cabin in the north woods of Wisconsin on a Rock Candy work retreat, where we had a lot of important conversations about Seventh Circle.

With that in mind, we should have some announcements for all of you in the coming weeks! We are super excited to share what we've been working on with y'all and give you more insight into what the game will look like and when you can expect to be playing it.

If you're going to be at New York Comic Con, definitely stop by and find us in the Artist's Alley, table E10. We always love chatting with backers (and shoutout to those of you we saw at Flamecon, you were awesome).

As always, thanks for your support, patience, and enthusiasm.

Keep being awesome,

Anne & Becca
