It's the grim 17th century Middle Europe! A time full of war, lust, blood and glory! Become an ataman of a Zaporozhian Cossack’s band, lead a group of cunning Polish Nobles, or join forces with the cursed Deceived Ones in a brawl of vicious fencing combat! Saber & Blood is a card driven board game with unique fencing dice mechanics for 2-3 (4 players with unlocked stretch goals). The game will be available in two full language options: polish and english. Also a full german and french translation will be available in PDF format.
Saber & Blood is an exciting mix of a card game and a board game. Each player commands a band of three characters that fight each other in a vicious battle to the last drop of blood. Players control their characters on the board by playing cards from their unique decks. Each faction has its own deck, character abilities, playing styles, strengths, and weaknesses that must be used strategically in order to defeat its opponents. Fighting in the game is performed by using custom fencing stance dice secretly chosen by each of the opponents, aiming to outsmart each other by choosing the most advantageous fencing style. Play the right cards, move your characters to the best positions on the board, use your opponent's weakness to your advantage, chose the advantageous fencing stance, and claim your victory with SABER AND BLOOD.

It all started here in our foundry where we made figurines ourselves. It is our passion and craft, thanks to which we could stay a little longer in constant contact with our best hobby (not only on weekends)! We started to cast figurines with a simple need to do manual work (we were all tired of office and scientific work). Our mascot and the hero of our foundry stories is Kazrak the dwarf. Who would know better about working with metal? In our craft we put as much skill and heart as humor!
All of our models have been designed and manufactured in our foundry - Kazrak Miniatures (www.kazrak.pl) Figurines are made in white metal. Their size is 28 mm. We took into account at the design stage several important elements such as: historical correctness, attention to the smallest details, proper fencing stances, so as to provide players not only with exciting gameplay, but also to provide the highest quality product. During our work, we have gathered a wealth of experience in the production and distribution of metal figurines for both local and foreign markets. Our crafts have been appreciated and used by such companies as Wargamer, the creator of the By Fire and Sword, or the creator of the board game Human Interface: Nakamura Tower. Our figurines do not require gluing or fixing to the base. They will be delivered ready to play.
The core set of Saber & Blood is an excellent experience and by unlocking the stretch goals it can get even better. The main stars of the show are new gaming boards with location cards and new factions with miniatures and faction card. The new gaming boards come with new scenarios to play, new terrain types and new cards to use. The new factions are all already designed and play tested and each plays totally differently and has a different flavor and strategy required to win using them. They all come with their unique decks of cards and miniatures. Unlocking them not only gives you a bigger variety in playing the game but also unlocks the possibility to add more players to the game both in an all on all type of play as well as team play. Other stretch goals include additional game components or upgrades for them. And the best news is that all this good stuff from the stretch goals will be added to each purchase of the core game
"Polish Noble Party". Equipped with sabers, wine and long mustaches, they’re ready for a brawl! Party includes three characters: famous drunkard Jerzy Maria Opilski, and his two brothers-in-law Jan Krempski and Jeremiasz Zuchowski. The polish nobles where known for their extravagant behaviors, honor and showmanship. They're masters of strategy and drinking booze (sometimes these two things collide with each other). This faction strength is the possibility to do a lot of actions during a turn, far more than any other faction. They also exceed in cunning and outsmarting their opponents with strategic play. They are pretty good fighters but don’t rely only on their fighting skill to win the game (unless you are willing to pump them full of vodka, because then they afford to take a lot more of a beating).
"Warband of Zaporozhian Cossacks". They’re great fighters and vicious rouges. Band includes three characters: brave ataman (chieftain) Samuel The Black and his two molojcy - Taras Barabas and Hrycko Loboda. There are none who fights and drinks like the Cossacks. They rely mostly on brutal strength and their ability to withstand even the hardest beating. They live and die for combat and the more they fight the more powerful they become. When playing this faction, never avoid fighting, unless you have no other choice, and remember that there is no wound that cannot be forgotten with a good shot of liquor, or simply by being more stubborn then an ox! The wrath of Zaporozhye and the unmatched Cossack Pride is upon them.

Cossack Werewolf – Cursed Cossack warrior who turns into a bloodthirsty monster during every full moon! This kickstarter exclusive includes a metal werewolf model, the added possibility to turn one of your Cossack fighters into this beast and a completely new scenario, to which we have created unique mechanics. Nobody may expect that one of his men may turn into a beast! Stand your ground against this outrageous monster in a new level of play! (This scenario is an addition to the core set.)
The Devil Himself - Straight out of the depths of hell, dressed in motley clothes, he invites you to take a part in his wicked game! Who shall dare to trick the devil? This kickstarter exclusive contains a unique, metal Devil model and a completely new scenario to which we have created special mechanics. You can also add him as an addition to every scenario in game to mix things up! Fight the hellish powers! He is a friend and an enemy to all. He will use his trickery to mess with you!
Rage of the common folk! Two ready to fight peasants are the best support to defeat your opponent! Armed with pitchfork and club, but fearless! Highly detailed, two 28 mm white metal miniatures. They will be added as a playable card to the tavern deck.

Each faction has its own totally unique set of 52 cards, each with 3 types of cards. These cards represent the actions the characters perform during the game, the stances they assume, and other type of interferences that accrue during their fight. Players control their character on the board only by playing out cards by spending command points, from their hands. This is the only way players can influence directly what is happening on the board. Players start the turn by regaining command points and they draw cards at the end of the turn equal to the number of points unspent. Playing the right cards at the right time, managing your hand wisely, and strategical command point spending is the key to victory in Saber & Blood. Each card is beautifully illustrated and often comes with unique game mechanics found only on that particular card. The strategy for playing each faction is different, each has its own unique strengths and weaknesses that can be seen in the characters, their factions special abilities, and of course in the cards and their game effects. If you love both card games and board games you will absolutely love Saber & Blood.
Also, all factions come with 8 skill cards for the characters that some scenarios allow you to add at the begging of the game. These cards function as additional special skills for the character to use during the game, and also highlight even more of their faction's main attributes and strengths. These skill cards can be added in any combination to your characters, greatly increasing the number of possible skill and cards interactions, and strategy play styles. Again choosing the right skills for the scenarios win conditions is what differentiates the good S&B players from the common folk.
Core set includes 6 large beautifully illustrated character sheets. We wanted the heroes of our game to be real characters. That is why on the character's cards, in addition to the descriptions of game mechanics and beautiful illustrations, we have also included interesting quotes, to show the unique character of each hero. We also paid attention to make them look historically accurate and believable. All characters have their own special skills (usually representative of the strengths of the faction they belong to), life total, and a set of 3 skill levels associated with the 3 fencing stances that can be assumed during combat. Each character plays a bit differently and learning how to use their strengths and mask their weaknesses is a big part of the learning and fun curve in S&B.
The Saber & Blood fencing dices are a totally unique way to experience fighting in a board game. The game includes two sets of 3 stance dice and 4 skill dice that are meant to give the players the feeling of really fighting against one another. The fencing stance dice (attack, dodge and feint) allow you and your opponent to secretly decide what stance your characters are going to assume during the fight. Each stance has an advantage over one other stance and also has their own unique abilities that influence combat. The skill dice (low, medium, high, master) show how good a character fights in a particular combat stance. Each player rolls both their dice during combat (the stance and the skill dice) and by the results of the rolls they determine the combat result. This system allow the players to become much more engaged in combat, and truly fell like they would be fighting each other. Choosing the right stance in the appropriate situation, and outsmarting your opponent with your choice is often more important than the combat skill of the character that is fighting. With each game players become more experienced with choosing the right stance in the right moment and receive a sense that their own combat skill has grown. There is nothing like the felling of beating your opponents over powered character with your dying last man just because you have foreseen his choice of dice and gave him this way a lesson in humility!
The double-sided game board presents a tavern and old forest road - both typical for the borders of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Maps are made in high definition with attention to detail. We wanted to highlight every important element of the scenery, to ensure the greatest immersion in the game world. Both inn and road has an additional 12 special cards that can be drawn and added to you hand, to play them. These cards reflect some special effects and characteristic of the scene in which the game takes place.
The game contains beautifully designed tokens. They represent various states of character, wounds, special points and activation tokens. They have been prepared to recognize their meaning intuitively, while maintaining the atmosphere of our game.
Our full color rulebook is beautifully illustrated, and contains the full description of all the rules and mechanics of Saber & Blood. As an appendix, we also include a Scenario Booklet with six scenarios ready to be played (additional scenarios will be included with the kickstarter exclusives and unlocked stretch goals). Saber and Blood is the product of passion of 3 friends that decided to pursue their dreams and start making board games. Our game had humble beginnings, but what started as a small project grew into a challenging journey. Saber and Blood is now in the making, for more than 2 years. During that period we spend a lot of time, effort and money to develop and polish our game as best as we can. We managed to fully assemble a working core game, and develop most of the stretch goals. We did everything to get the game to a point in which it is as complete as possible. But probably if you look closely, you might still see some rough edges;). Although we achieved so much, we are reaching our limits of what we can do with our own resources. That is why we need your support to complete this project and make this game all it can be! Our dream during this campaign is to unlock all stretch goals so that Saber and Blood becomes everything we imagined it to be. We hope you will be able to experience not just the fun that comes from playing the base game, but also all the incredible content that is included in the additional warbands and gaming boards. We love our game and we really want everybody who supports it to see it in all its glory, which is the reason why we only have 1 plage that includes the core game and all unlocked stretch goals. Shipping will be charged after the campaign is finished. This is to make sure that each and every backer gets the best price that we can offer. Above are approximate shipping costs by country, based on the weight of a game with all showed stretch goals unlocked (about 4 kg volumetric weight/ 26 minis inside). Saber & Blood project which has been in development for the last 2 years is a fruit of our team's hard labor. We wanted to create a product that not only would be a great game but also an exciting journey into fantastic world of grim adventure and historical setting, for you and your heroes with unique and satisfying gameplay. We have paid close attention to plan the production process, from prototype to the final version. Having our own casting company, we are ready to provide the best quality models in minimum time. As Kazrak casting company we are a permanent suppliers of models for such games and companies as Wargamer, By Fire and Sword, HINT: Nakamura Tower, Unreleased Miniatures and for many other small local businesses. Our castings were widely praised and appreciated for quality and amazing attention to detail. We use the highest quality materials in production. We make figures we would like to play. With this project, we focused on the best graphic designers, testers and the preparation of excellent rules, knowing that we ourselves are able to produce very good models. In other words, we found subcontractors whose reputation will guarantee keeping deadlines, quality assurance and proper distribution. Nevertheless, our greatest dream and challenge is to bring everyone to the beauty and uniqueness of Polish history, its folklore, culture and unusual climate, both in the human dimension and in its wild nature.
We are avid hobbyists just like you and we know that in case of a product like this quality and delivery deadline are of utmost importance. These are our top priorities.
We can refund you within 14 days of the campaign’s end, fees included. After that, we have a policy of no questions asked, though that’s minus Kickstarter and payment processing fees (which we can’t get back from them after 14 days). However, if we’ve begun packaging your pledge for shipment (usually 4 to 6 weeks before the actual shipping date), no refunds are possible. If a component cannot be delivered AT ALL, we refund that completely, including fees.
