Be The First To Hear Ryvoli's Self-Titled, Debut EP
Hey friend! Jenn and Sam here. We're sitting in our favorite hometown coffee spot, highly caffeinated, and extremely excited to tell you all about what we've got brewing. If you hang on to the end, we'll tell you how you can get some cool things and help us out in the process!
If you're reading this, it probably means that in some form or fashion, you've been a part of our journey in the last year and a half since we started writing music. You've encouraged us, bought tickets to shows, told friends about our songs, and shared your story with us. Above music, we value friendships and any experience that connects us to other human beings. These 5 songs that we've written, played for you, and are now recording have all been a means to relating to and knowing you: the listener.
Let us back up a little and tell you how this all got started in the first place. We met January 2016 in Paris, France working for the same non-profit organization. After realizing our mutual obsession with music, we spent countless late-night hours making music in Jenn's apartment. It felt like musical matrimony on all levels. The short version of this story is that we both eventually moved to Jenn's hometown in Lexington, Kentucky during the fall of 2016. Never having had ambitions of pursing music before meeting each other, we started writing music together and gave ourselves the name, Ryvoli, in homage to the well-travelled Parisian street, Rue du Rivoli. Since the start, we've been making music inspired by artists like The Civil Wars, Bon Iver, and The Swell Season.
Fast forward to the beginning of 2018. This past fall we were able to record with our dream producer, Chris Jacobie (Penny & Sparrow). After spending a magical week in Texas with Chris and our talented friend and cellist, Seth Murphy, we came home with three songs that we are truly proud of.
Despite having written over 10 songs this past year, we chose to only record three because it was all we could afford at the time. After heeding the advice of mentors and friends far more knowledgeable than us about the music world, we were encouraged to record at least two more songs in order to release the project as a 5-song EP.
These songs are a reflection of the physical and spiritual transitions we have gone through in the past two years. They are our best attempt at grappling with the mental torment a human must face when they open themselves up to overt questioning.
To complete this project, it's going to cost about $9k. We've already invested $5k of our own money but need your help to cover the rest!
If you'd like to help us complete this goal, keep reading to learn how you can support us. Every donation earns you one of our hand-tailored gifts, and we're so excited to give them to you!
Once we hit the deadline and meet our goal, you’ll be awarded a gift corresponding to the amount of your donation.
We must reach our entire goal of $4k by February 3rd, 2018.
If we don't, you unfortunately won't get the package you ordered. (Don't worry though, if we don't reach our goal, Kickstarter won't charge your credit card.)
So, to ensure you get your prizes, after you've ordered, please share this page with your friends!
We realize for you to help fund something you have yet to listen to, you are taking a risk on us. For that, we thank you. We hope to get all five songs into your hands by Summer, 2018.
Thank you so much for caring about this project and being a part of its completion!
