The problem with traditional language apps
Language learning apps today are primarily built around only using your fingers, instead of helping you speak in real-life conversations.
The biggest obstacle that every language learner faces when speaking a new language is the fear of feeling judged or embarrassed when you make a mistake.
Rype is reinventing the way we learn a new language by using AI-powered speaking lessons to help you speak confidently from day 1, without feeling judged.
We've designed our curriculum from the ground up to make it fun, relevant, and relatable to teach you what you actually care about such as how to talk to your AirBnB host, asking someone out, and ordering food at restaurants.
Real-life conversations (AI-powered speaking lessons)
No more boring flashcards and quiz-format exercises using only your fingers. Our speaking lessons feel like real-life conversations you'll have with a friend, family member, or co-worker.
Real-time feedback (using speech recognition technology)
You'll get real-time feedback via our speech recognition technology. As you use the app more, we'll improve our accuracy, and your speaking lesson experience will continue to improve. It's like having a language coach in your pocket.
Learn even faster by booking live 1-on-1 lessons with handpicked professional teachers in our network.

It's not just different. It's Language Learning 4.0.
Update on languages
As we near the end of our campaign, we want to share a quick update on our language offerings. Given the content we've already filmed and the feedback we've received, the first 3 languages we'll launch with are: Spanish, English, and French.
We'll then launch future languages, which will be decided through a voting process by our early pledgers. Below you'll find the list of 6 languages we're planning to launch after we launch our first 3. They include: Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, and German. That means as an early supporter, you'll get an active vote to shape the direction of our company!

Risks and challenges
The main challenge is probably having arrived to this point, and the ups and downs our team has been through from day one. We've learned a ton from this journey thus far and we're excited to take our years of lessons towards introducing Rype GO.
At this point, we've got an established company with a talented team that has over twenty years of combined experience launching apps and companies. From a content perspective, since we're producing in-house, we don't run the risk of copyright issues.
Delivery wise, since we're launching a digital app, we don't have the same problem as other Kickstarter campaigns that depend on manufacturing partners to ship their products. However, building an app from scratch is not an easy task. Despite having extensive experience, there will be inevitable setbacks that our product team may face. We've also been able to meet our film production timeline, but we're aware that delays could occur at any point. Our estimated delivery time is a conservative timeline and we've buffered extra time for potential issues that may come up as we develop the app.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
