Frequently Asked Questions
The initial languages we aim to launch are: Spanish, English, French, and potentially German.
If we reach our stretch goals, the languages we currently have plans to launch are: Italian, Korean, Russian, and Portuguese.
We’ll likely ask our early supporters to actively vote for which languages we should prioritize after the campaign ends.Last updated:
We get this often given how much we focus on the aspect of conversation + speaking in our ad video.
The short answer is: yes! Given that most people are starting with zero to little knowledge, we designed the learning experience for absolute beginners.
In the beginner lessons, we do heavily focus on the fundamentals. This means you'll learn the basic words and sentences, like greetings, numbers, dates, etc.
We have beginner lessons that are broken down into 4 levels (Beginner 1, 2, 3, 4) and intermediate levels in the same format (Intermediate 1, 2, 3, 4). If you have zero knowledge of the language, you can just start at Beginner 1 which is where most of our early supporters will be starting, and as you improve, you can keep progressing up!
TLDR; You do not need to know any basics of the language to gain the benefits of Rype GO.Last updated:
Even if you don't see a language you want to learn in our initial list, you can redeem your offer at anytime when we expand our list of languages, especially if you're on the lifetime subscription.
If we don't meet our stretch goals, we will still continue to add new languages on a frequent basis (priority languages will be decided via a voting system by our early backers), and there's a good chance we'll offer your target language within the first year of launch, assuming you're learning a popular language.Last updated:
Our team will be working in parallel to prepare the content and the apps. Based on our estimate, we should have a working beta ready by December 2019 or earlier.Last updated:
First of all, if this is something you’re asking: thank you. We know there are numerous great campaigns on Kickstarter and we’re grateful for your support.
The best way you can help is to:
1. Be an early pledge supporter: Every pledge matters for us, as you’ll be able to help shape our features and user experience by becoming an early beta user. And certainly, the more you’re able to pledge, the faster you’ll help us get to launch.
2. Help us spread the word: Taking 20 seconds to spread the word about our campaign on social media will be awesome. If you have friends or acquaintances who have contacts with the media, please let them know what we’re up to or send us their contact info.
You can direct them to our Kickstarter page.Last updated:
The goal is to launch a desktop app, and mobile apps on the Apple App Store and Google Play. If we don’t end up launching all three at the same time, it is likely that we will launch the desktop version first then the mobile apps shortly after.Last updated:
Right now, the only way to gain early access to the beta is to become an early supporter to our campaign here on Kickstarter.Last updated:
Lifetime gives you access to our app forever, which includes future updates and future languages that we launch.
If you pledge for the Lifetime Access (All Languages) for $299, you will get all of our initial and future languages. This is a special offer that we’re making available just for our early supporters on Kickstarter.
If you pledge for the Lifetime Access (1 Language) for $179, you will get to choose 1 language from our initial languages or any of the future languages we offer, depending on when you decide to redeem your offer.Last updated:
The speaking lessons are designed to feel like you’re conversing with a real person. From a visual perspective, it looks no different than text messaging a friend, but you’ll also get a combination of audio, video, and images to make it come to life. We will also use real human voices which will further add to the realistic experience.
Most of the speaking lessons will start with an audio or video message, where you will respond via audio (typing is also an option in case you’re not at an area where you can speak out loud). As you progress to more difficult levels, there will be less help available for you, and you’ll soon be put to the test in real-time, just like you would if you were talking to a local speaker in a foreign country!
Lastly, we gather more feedback and improve our technology, speech recognition will continuously get better, and we’ll offer a more seamless speaking experience.Last updated:
You can either pledge for the Lifetime Access Plus reward tier ($499) which includes 10 hours of live 1-on-1 lessons
You can add $20 USD for every 1 hour of private lesson you want
Example Scenario: If you're interested in pledging for the $179 (lifetime subscription for 1 language), and you want to add 10 hours of private lessons (priced at $20 USD/hour).
$179 + ($20 USD x 10 hours) = $379 total pledge amount
At the end of the campaign (after Sept 10), we'll send you a reward survey to confirm exactly which reward tier you're on and how many private lessons you pledged for.

Here’s our plan with beta testing and official start dates.
As a pledger, you’ll get access to the beta version of our app as soon as we’re ready to release. This will not count towards your paid subscription months, and your official start date is going to begin once we’ve completed our beta phase.
We predict that the beta test should last around 1 to 1.5 months, but if it lasts longer than that, it just means you’ll get additional usage at no extra charge.
So if you purchased a 6 month subscription, and our beta test ends up lasting for 2 months, you’ll get access to 2 months of our beta app, and 6 months of our complete app.Last updated:
Yes, and this includes future languages we launch.
Our goal was to simplify our pricing to offer an all-inclusive membership, like Spotify and Netflix, instead of charging separately per language.
This makes the most sense for our users and for us, we think it’ll also make sense for users to stay on longer as members.Last updated:
This is definitely something we will prioritize for our official launch, but it’s likely not going to be available for the beta version.Last updated:
