To program a robot is simple. All that is required is to press the buttons on the top of TurtlTeck. By pressing the up or down buttons it makes the robot move either Forwards or Backwards by approximately 30CM. By pressing the Left or Right buttons it will then make the robot turn approximately 45° on the spot.
An example program for a Octagon is the following:
We understand that all robot chassis, motors and batteries are slightly different. To solve this issue we have added on 4 Dip Switches allowing you to increase or decrease the delay for that instruction. We have found that by setting the switches the robot can be fine tuned to work across different batteries and chassis.
We have also designed the TurtlTeck to run fully off 1 pack of AA Batteries making it easy to power without the need for multiple packs, usb cables or extra regulators.

What We Need
We are aiming to raise a total of £1000
While we have the funds to be able to make a small batch of the TurtlTeck we are fundraising to be able to create a bigger batch; to help recover some of the development costs and buy new equipment to be able to manufacture them.
One of the major things about running a fundraiser is also the fees taken by Kickstarter & Postage. To hit our goal we estimate we need 20 Earlybird Boards and 20 Robot Kits to sell.
This equals a total of £1000, by the time we remove postage costs on their own it equals £890. Once we then remove fees at 10% (Kicksarter + VAT + Payment + 20p a Pledge ) = £793
Tasks left to do
- Finalize PCB Design
- Finalize Packaging
- Source Components

By helping fund this project you are supporting Ryanteck LTD. A startup based in Stevenage, United Kingdom. This project is our first product that we have funded the development of fully ourselves.
Due to being a small company while we can fund most of the project ourselves we would like to be able to get the funds to be able to fund the extra equipment and resources that would help with production.
Who Am I?
Just a quick thanks to my Mum & Dad for all of the support they have been giving me while developing the product along with the Beta Testers (Recantha, WhaleyGeek, TheRaspberryPiGuy, Daniel More & MRUkTechReviews [Who has also taken some of the photos and the video]).
Risks and challenges
Every project is subject to delays. We are hoping to start shipping in October but there are a couple of things that could delay the project.
I have had quite a lot of experience with fundraisers in the past. The board design just has to be confirmed from testing feedback and the parts to be ordered. We will be partially funding the project to order the parts that will take the longest to arrive ourself.
We also will make sure the final design of PCB works before ordering the production run to make sure that when you get yours it will work out of the box.
Finally I am starting University in October so this could cause a delay. I am used to already running a business around education and am taking my computer science degree via the Open University to be able to run the business at the same time.
Some parts we find easy to stock including terminal blocks and buttons. We already have a stock of over 1000+ Terminal blocks from where we buy them in bulk for prototyping and the RTK RPi M.C.B
Our suppliers for the ICS currently have more than enough to make the batch of 100 but if we reach a LOT of orders then we would be using all of their stock causing a possible month delay.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
