It has been a while...
After more than three years of touring, writing, and rewriting, I am finally ready to share some new music with y'all!
ABOUT THIS ALBUM:
This new album is called "The Last Ten Years." It consists of 11 original tracks written by Ryan and recorded and mastered at studios in the Carolinas this summer. It will be available for digital download and streaming via Amazon, iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, and many other internet-based platforms. The album will also be made available as a CD with an insert containing credits and lyrics. Physical copies will be available via this Kickstarter campaign, and later at my live shows and on my website (www.hutchensmusic.com).
- $5,000 GOAL
- Recording and Mastering the album: $2,800
- Production and Distribution of CDs: $1,100
- Fulfillment: $675 (producing other rewards and shipping)
- Kickstarter Fees: $250 (5%)
- Credit Card Fees (estimated): $175 (3.5%)
I have already recorded and mastered this album (it sounds great!) with two of the best professionals currently working in their fields.
The tracking and mixing happened at Archer Avenue Studio (http://www.archeravenuestudio.com) in Columbia SC under the watchful eye of sound engineer, producer, and album wizard Kenny McWilliams. Kenny has over a decade of experience recording and producing albums in a professional studio. Local musicians Idris Chandler and Travis White joined me and Kenny in the studio to add their expertise to the album. Idris, a strings instructor based out of Columbia, SC, played cello on several of the songs. Travis performed his rarely heard specialty, the pedal steel guitar, on two of the songs.
After a little more than a week of long days recording and mixing the tracks, I drove up to Charlotte, NC to spend the day mastering the album with Dave Harris at Studio B Mastering (http://studiobmastering.com). Dave has over thirty years experience in mastering and has worked on several projects that have won or been nominated for Grammys.
Writing and recording were just the first steps in the process of putting out this new album. Now, I need YOUR HELP to move forward with the project and spread this music to as many people as we can.
I've enjoyed brainstorming some interesting and cool rewards, and I can't wait to see which ones y'all choose! YOUR HELP in completing this project will enable me to:
1. TOUR with another professionally recorded CD to sell at shows
2. Play bigger shows!
3. Get more airtime on radio stations
4. Spread the word about the music to more people
What if We Exceed the Goal?
Truthfully, I will probably buy a locally made craft brew to celebrate and I will tip my bartender. Then I will use any additional funding to get this music into the ears of as many people as possible. As I have for the past several years, I will continue on my never-ending tour and I will soon have physical copies of the album YOU helped me create to share at my shows around the USA. I can use extra funds to stock up on (and diversify) merchandise, purchase and distribute promotional materials, and pay for marketing. I will be able to give this new album to radio stations (terrestrial, internet, and satellite), record labels, and venue/festival promoters. I will be able to take my touring to another level, playing at bigger venues and opening for great bands.
STRETCH GOAL: If we greatly exceed the goal, I will get this album pressed to VINYL! This campaign will need to exceed the stated goal of $5000 by at least one thousand dollars to facilitate the process of releasing this album on vinyl. If it looks like we can achieve that goal, I will announce the release of a limited number of vinyl records and will detail how you can order one!
THANK YOU! I have met so many kind, weird, genius, happy, sad, sober, drunk, interesting, unforgettable, and enthusiastic people in the last few years of touring. I have spent years driving the roads, walking the sidewalks, and exploring some of the endless possibilities that my beautiful country offers. It has truly been a pleasure and a great learning experience. I'm guessing that many of you who will join this campaign are people that I have met and spoke to in some venue in one of hundreds of cities around the world. I have shared drinks and conversations with most of you. Thank you for your help. It means more than I can say to receive your support in continuing this career. ANY and EVERY contribution that YOU make to this album will take me one step closer to sharing my music with more people and I THANK YOU for that!
For those of you who are not familiar with my work, here are a few tracks from my first album "Collection":
Risks and challenges
I have already written, recorded, and produced the new album so there is no risk of not accomplishing my main goal of creating new music and getting it out to the World by the expected release date in October 2017. I have also inquired about and arranged for the production and distribution of all of the other physical rewards. An official release date of October will give me more than enough time to get the album pressed and distributed along with all the other reward tiers. Several of the reward tiers offer a one of a kind home recording of one of my previously released original songs. I expect to finish these recordings before the beginning of November; however, if there are a large number of people interested in this reward it could take a bit longer as I want to make sure those recordings are of a good quality.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
