Hey Coolest Backers,

Julie, Farrah and Blake are our Coolest team members responsible for answering support emails and messages, and lately this is what many look like:

“When the hell am I going to get my damn Coolest?! You’ve been sitting on all our money for over a year and all you keep saying is it’s coming. I’m getting REAL impatient and if I don’t have it in time for (X) I’m going to post a video on Facebook and YouTube warning everyone the truth about this SCAM!

Ahhhh… we hear you. Waiting for your Coolest sucks, especially with these hot weekends, planned family trips, and summer slipping away. We’d all love to take our Coolest out this weekend and enjoy it with our friends and families, but right now no one even knows when they can hope to get it.

I promise we are not off yachting it up somewhere, rather we are still laser focused on getting your Coolest to you as fast and as perfect as possible. Part of what makes backing something on Kickstarter different than just buying it somewhere is experiencing the journey from idea to real life product. It’s been an AMAZING journey, but hey - at the end of a long journey, everyone still wants to know, “Are we there yet?!.”

Some of our earliest Coolest backers get to pick up their Coolest TODAY at a celebration we’re hosting in Portland, while the last backer units may not show up until November. This update will give you an idea of where you might fall in that range and why we aren't promising a precise date.

SHIPPING BIG PICTURE:

The Coolest does not fit in an envelope. Forever stamps won't work, and still no damn transporters…this is how Coolest Coolers are getting made and getting to you:

Colors: We are making 2000 of each color Coolest first so we can make sure there are no issues matching the knifes, plates and corkscrews with the Coolest body. Then we'll be making one color every week or so (orange/green/blue) as it takes over twelve hours to shut down, clean and switch from one color to another in the blow molding machine.

Ocean Transit: 410 Coolests can fit in a 40' container and it takes 18 days to ship containers to the port of Tacoma, then another 2-3 days to offload and get to our warehouse in Portland. Typhoons, peak season traffic, or another labor disputes could add delays but so far, so good.

U.S. shipping: In Portland we add the speaker and any extra items, then put on a UPS label. Next we load 500 Coolest into a semi truck or train to head to one of six UPS distribution centers. Loading time is 1-2 days and transit time is 2-6 days depending on geography.

Last mile: Once your Coolest arrives at the UPS distribution center, our friends in brown will send you an email alert with tracking number and zip it off to your home at last (2-4 days).

IMPORTANT: Each week as each new color comes in, our Logistic/Fulfillment partners get to decide which truckfull of which Coolest go to which zone in what order based on our overall instructions to ship as many as possible to those who ordered earliest.

Manufacturing start-up: Even a Ferrari takes some time to go from zero to 100, but we're apparently more like a luxury motorhome. When we shipped our first batch of Coolests, we were told by our factory that we’d be making 800/day within 3 weeks. Then one day no units were made because the chromed logos didn't show up and they need to be attached before the foaming process. After that, one of the molds got damaged and had to be repaired so zero were made for eight days. I dropped everything and flew back overseas and after a huge team effort I’m happy to say we will finally be at 800 Coolests per day this Monday, with room still for more ramp-up.

Manufacturing next: Over 3,000 Coolests have left the factory so far. We expect 3,000+ more next week alone, then close to 5,000 or more each week to come. As we mentioned in the last update, at this rate we’re pushing to get the final Kickstarter Coolest shipped from our factory by the end of October. But with 25+ days of travel that likely puts us into November for the last of you. We are also still looking at investing in more tooling that could more than double our numbers, but the timing is still a big unknown.

Ballpark: The easiest way to estimate your expected delivery day is to assume that the first 10k backers should see their Coolest between today and the end of September, backers 10,001 - 40,000 in October, then 40,001- 62,000 in November, BUT it’s not so easy. There are more Blue Moon orders than Margarita for example, so how many of which color comes in each week, combined with which UPS zones get shipped to each week, will also factor in the equation.

Being polite to Julie, Farrah and Blake couldn’t hurt either. ;)

We love hearing everyone’s enthusiasm for the Coolest, and we remember every day that it was your support that made this all possible in the first place. We’re really SO CLOSE everyone – just a little longer and you’ll have your very own Coolest to enjoy soon!

Thanks,

- Ryan

      Ryan and the Coolest team;

Keep moving forward, remaining stalwart in everything. Must earth not be moved to find gold? OF COURSE! Know that negativity is like dust raised from sojourning in trenches. The debris is not ignored but reduced and filtered only as feasible.

Thank you Ryan and thank you Coolest team for the sacrifice, suffering and solidarity.

August 21, 2015 you wrote these words. I was one of your first backers and I have not said a word until now. Now, I would like a refund with interest. Thank you.

It has been almost two years since I paid for my coolest cooler (which I actually bought for my husband for his birthday) and all I have to show for my $200+ investment is a t-shirt, a cup and a bottle opener. Is there any way to find out when my cooler will be shipped? My husband is really excited about getting it and would like to have it for this summer. Is that even a possibility? I hope to hear from someone personally.

Orange Cooler delivered to Okla today - 12/15/15. Was backer #1775 - as of April 2014. Only took 20 months. At least it's in time for Christmas!

    13. Kristina Sutton Ermers on December 2, 2015

Why are you guys selling these on amazon when we haven't received ours yet?

    14. Chris Meisinger Propheter on October 30, 2015

Ryan and team. I don't even remember my number it's been couple years but do you have ANY timeline for us?? I was under impression they were shipping this summer and ordered extra battery as well. I don't mind the wait and understand delays but realistically when can we expect any shipments? I'm assuming you have our "number".

    15. Mary Bullock on October 30, 2015

I believe I was number 327 to back this, I even ordered extra battery! Where is my cooler? I feel ripped off!

Soooo....of the 4 coolers I ordered, 1 has been delivered. Even got an email saying it was shipped so I tracked it and yep, it was delivered (it was a gift). But that was about a month ago and no word on the other 3. All ordered together. But not a peep from anyone about when, where, why, nothing about the other 3. Again, I'd like to say this is an awesome product. And again, I'll say you won't succeed in retailing these if this is your logistics plan. I'm available for consulting (for a fee) to help you unravel this mess.

Dale Pendexter First of all, ya'll didn't pay for anything except a project. A project with the idea that you will get a "Coolest Cooler". What if this project had failed? All money would have been lost and you would have gotten nothing at all. Be happy that these fine people actually made this dream come true and are working diligently to make sure ya'll get your cooler. Second of all, Yeah, they held a contest, but who says they have their cooler already? Maybe they are waiting also. It will come in time. You waited this long, a little while longer isn't going to kill you. That $185.00 you spent has already flown by and hasn't hurt your budgets has it? Eother be patient and wait or get your refund back. But either way, Please stop bitching about this. Ya'll are getting really annoying and sound like little children whining! Gees !!!

Good news and bad news about being a Coolest backer: Bad news - original delivery date of February missed. Couldn't take it on my vacation to the Florida Keys. Bad news - 2nd delivery date of July missed. I was Cooles(s) for the 4th of July holiday and the entire summer (including Labor Day). Bad news - 3rd delivery date of October will be missed based on the other messages on this post (Backer # 32,000 or so). Will not have my Coolest for my Columbus Day weekend camp-out. Good news - I live in Florida, so when my Coolest finally arrives this winter, I'll still be able to use it to make frozen eggnog :-)

I am backer #8335 and Update #31 was very descript about delivery by the end of September. Can anyone advise what the set-back is now. I made my pledge 2 days into the project. Its a great idea however, Janis Gangi is the only one who has indicated a delivery. Mrs Gangi can you advise your backer number? Hopefully that will give us all a little hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

    39. Daryl L. Hosler II on September 25, 2015

OK, they gave a timeline in the update. 0-10,000 September, 10,001-40,000 October, the rest November. If you don't get it by then start complaining. Until then be patient, this is a Kickstarter campaign, you are not buying this off the shelf at Target, Walmart or whatever.

Nice letter - unfortunately it is a bunch of bunk. I was a manufacturer of Aerospace products for a good number of years. We had 360,000 active part numbers and something on every airplane in the air. An AOG (Aircraft On Ground) meant that someone was not flying. It was/is a big deal. Coolest Cooler ain't so cool. They have many people on the ground and are doing many activities totally unrelated to production. In the Book, Build, Ship algorithm they only know how to Book. "we are still laser focused" HA!

    48. Al Salerno on September 21, 2015

Don't let all the negative comments get you down Coolest, hopefully people who can't deal with the wait won't be back on Kickstart anytime soon. Ive backed about 20 products in my life and although some products were in the end more worth the wait than others the one real difference is after you get your product you still have a voice and people listen when you have issues instead of just passing you off to a hotline or a website. Ive had CEO's of Kickstart projects answer my Tweets and send me replacement products no questions asked. So suck it up ya addicts!! Im sure the Coolest hasn't stopped you from drinking Margaritas all summer...

    49. Jason Elliser on September 20, 2015

I see you are shipping to earliest pledge people in somewhat of an order but its not possible for us to find out in what order we were in
