      Splicer, Jump Fuse:
      * The jump fuse cost twice the fuses resource cost and uses one of your allotment of spells. You are able to have one spell level per three levels of Splicer in spell levels created in this way plus one 0th level.
      * "Memorizing" your spells (aka, making a fuse) cost one mechanical and one combustible resources per spell per spell level (3rd level spell costs 3 mechanical and 3 combustible). Making a Jump Fuse is double the cost.

      Conservator, Totem Transformation
      * As the Conservator advances in level they gain the ability to ADD a spirit animal carving to the top of their totem. So eventually, they will have 9 different spirit animals to select from throughout a given day. So it is one totem for all of the animals. And yes, it is really fun! :)

So for the Jumpers it is 1 for 1 on the spell slots? In the wording it made it sound like 1 jumper is 2 slots every so many levels? But if its 1 for 1 thats even easier to remember.

Can more than one totem but built at a time? Like one for each animal?

TO ALL BACKERS (and thank you, Daniel!)

We want to make sure you know that Apocalypse the Risen Campaign Setting and future supplements, games, etc. will make it to market. We are confident in this product. Feedback on the sample adventure and local games reinforce the belief there is a market for this game. YOUR feedback, support, and backing confirms that.

We are pouring everything into making this Kickstarter a success. We know a lot of attention comes back to Kickstarters in their final week. And we hope the changes we have made and the available info/game make the difference. But no matter what happens, we will make sure this game gets to your table.

Keep the feedback and questions coming!

    14. Rusted Portal Games 2-time creator on October 24, 2016

      Michael V - YASSSS!!

Seriously, this type of feedback is exactly what drives us! Thank you for letting us know about your experience and for enjoying the game. That's just awesome.

Questions 1) Splicer - Explain the Caster and related components
      * Caster - the physical device that you aim and fire the spell, usually in the form of a ranged touch attack
      * Fuse Box - either internal or external, pending design, that holds fuses and connect to the caster
      * Fuse - a tiny physical device built each day that house a single spell, replaces "memorizing", and "loads" into the fuse box
      * Casting a Spell - the Splicer is attuned to their device, so selection of a spell is automatic and requires no physical interaction. The Caster otherwise takes up one hand.
      * Technically, no physical component is fired from the Caster by design, but that doesn't mean a PC and GM couldn't decide otherwise!
      * Jump Fuse (Jumper) - This is a separate fuse that does not fit in the fuse box and creates a portable spell. Anyone may attempt to activate this device. Creating a Jump Fuse uses up a spell slot as a memorized spell would.

Question 2) Conservator Explain totem and spirit animal activation
      * Totem - The cost for creating the totem and adding animals is a one time charge that occurs when the PC reaches the new level
      * PCs typically build their totems within their colony, and the area in which the totem power reaches is from that location (which increases with level)
      * However, the spirit animals are not bound to that area and may be activated anywhere
      * Spirit Animal Activation - It takes one use to activate a spirit animal for the day, but you may use the passive ability for that animal without counting toward the time of use
      * You may trigger an activate ability which begins the countdown of time available in a 24 hour period
      * The ability creates an overlay of spiritual energy in the outline of the creature (PC description) based on the ability used (claws, bite, etc.) - so the PC never changes shape, they just get a faint outline of the benefit when it is in use

Love these questions and always happy to clarify. This helps us in making sure wording is clarified and complete. Thank you for playing and spread the word!

So my group played the playtest and I gotta say it was a blast! Loved playing Whiskey. Really made me feel like a boss of the waste slingin persuader around. We also played Pepper, Copperhead, and Tortoise. Do have some questions on Copperhead and Pepper

For Copperhead the Totems - When you make a Totem as long as you follow the guidelines to where it needs to be placed does it work reguardless of distance you are from it? To gain the benefits do you have to take the form of the spirit? Does a spirit just follow you around? The attacks that come with it do you have to be changed to get those or do you get them in your "normal" form? The wording was a bit confusing for us.

For pepper can you explain Jumpers a bit better? The bit about how many you get was also a bit confusing. We kinda think we figured it out but wanted clarification. Also how does a fuse and Caster work together? Is the Caster just like a "focus" and the fuse a object you just throw or is it like you "load" the caster with the fuse? Or could you do either? Reason I asked is our guy playing the Caster said once he gets to make one he would like to create a CD player that somehow shoots CDs. CDs being like his fuse and the player his caster. Didnt know if that bit would work with how its suppose to work for the mechanics.

Again the game is a blast and cannot wait for it to hit my table in full!

The path to the Corrupted, its impact, and exactly what races can carry that template to be revealed later. But I will say that it provides both story and combat influences and certainly involves more than asking a demon to help you meet the Darkness. :)

    18. NecroNuke9
      on October 23, 2016

Angels, Humans, and Progeny can be Corrupted. Can Lazarus be Corrupted?

How does someone become corrupted? Do they just walk up to a Demon and say "Hey, I want to join you guys." or is it more involved?

Are the Corrupted aligned to a specific sin or they aligned with the Darkness in general?

    19. Rusted Portal Games 2-time creator on October 23, 2016

      * Correct on devils! Angels corrupted by the Darkness
      * Those that make a pact with the Darkness are "Corrupted"
      * Lust is not a Corrupted - but what he is could be revealed in an adventure path :)
      * Lust's pact is not with Pride, though he does owe Pride for the help
      * "Bloated" is one of the templates for Risen included in the core book - we felt this spewing version was better suited to be added to any Risen than a unique creature. Damaging a Bloated Risen is dangerous. On the plus side, you can tell these nasties have been in the area based on the Risen scat.

    20. NecroNuke9
      on October 23, 2016

In the Adventure there is a Bloated Famished. It seems like the Bloated could be spun off into its own kind of Risen. A large, overfed Risen vomiting digestive acid and exploding upon death.

Angel corrupted by Darkness = Devil

If Lust was once human, what is Lust now? Succubi/Incubi or called something else? Are there other former humans or only Lust?

If Lust became corrupted by the Darkness through a pact with Pride, then is the only way for a human to be corrupted is through a pact with a Devil or are there other ways?

    22. lichen Dan Dwarvenite lich of Valoria on October 22, 2016

Yes I'm making an effort because I'd not only like funding but an opportunity at these stretch goals

    23. Jason Collaborator on October 22, 2016

Daniel - love the comments and any questions you have, keep them coming!

Yes Pride itself does have big nefarious plans that likely includes supplanting the Darkness with its own hubris. But the question is... Did that thought spawn from the Darkness itself? Does the Darkness feed that hubris purposefully? Only time will tell.

And we are glad that you and others are as excited and enthusiastic about the game as we are! Please be sure to share this with your friends and family, as well as your own social media circle. The more buzz that spreads the faster we can get this game into your hands!

    24. lichen Dan Dwarvenite lich of Valoria on October 22, 2016

Very good choice because in Christian religion lucifer was pride essentially thinking himself even more powerful than god and more beautiful. I wouldn't be supprised if pride in your setting didn't think he would one day overtake the darkness and the light

    25. lichen Dan Dwarvenite lich of Valoria on October 22, 2016

Very interesting one of the seven was an angel and a human before they must be primal old however and corrupted long before the rise or even the seals where set in place

      Classes -
At present we do not intend to have more base classes. Our focus would be on prestige classes. Prestige will be split into two types:
Effigy: Those exemplifying and perfecting specific aspects of a single class
Entity: Those requiring a specific mix of base classes

    29. Rusted Portal Games 2-time creator on October 21, 2016

I can't express enough how much I'm digging the questions and interaction here. This is truly what drives us!

Regarding the hierarchy of the Darkness... like Jason said, the Darkness itself is one entity of tremendous power. I think of it like a bacteria multiplying and spreading but on a massive scale. Like a universal pandemic.

But the sin demons spawned from the Darkness do have a hierarchy, topped by Pride himself. Each faction maintain a tenuous agreement mostly based on fear, scheming and vying for power. Demons fall into one of two categories: Shunned and Embraced, all still within one of the seven sin natures.
      * Shunned and created straight from the Darkness and operate outside the hierarchy, independent of the Seven and their plotting, the Seven often attempting to use them as pawns in their schemes. Typically, shunned take on characteristics of beasts from Earth. All of the demons included in the core book are shunned. Powerful shunned are often hunted by the Seven to hold their power in check.
      * Embraced are directly created by the Seven and often with a specific purpose in mind. Typically, Embraced will take on a more humanoid appearance.

The Seven are each very different from one another. Most are typical demons, creatures spawned directly from the Darkness but with immense power. However, Pride and Lust--the most powerful and the weakest among the Seven--each have a different origin. Pride is a devil, an angel long ago corrupted by the Darkness. And Lust was once human, having made a pack with Pride to overthrow the previous Lust demon.

So leadership is a very complex power struggle that the Darkness itself cares little for but that the Seven spend most of their efforts contemplating.

There are currently nine classes. Any plans for new core classes in the future or will there be only new sub-classes and prestige classes for the core nine? I would be fine either way.

The mentioning of the supplements and the campaign settings only make me want them more. :)

    32. NecroNuke9
      on October 21, 2016

With the Light fracturing the Darkness, I can't help but picture the Darkness being thrown through a prism and turning into an evil rainbow of sin.

    33. Jason Collaborator on October 21, 2016

FIGMENTIA(Daniel) Love the question about the Darkness! The Darkness is an entity unto itself, as is the Light. The demons of sin spawned from the Darkness; Pride, Lust, Wrath, Gluttony, Sloth, Greed, Envy. Think of those demons as avatars of the Darkness in the mortal world.

The devils are fallen angels, and since their corruption comes from the Darkness (even though they were once born of the Light) you could say that technically they answer to the Darkness.

Hope that helps! If you have any other questions, please keep posting them up here!

    34. lichen Dan Dwarvenite lich of Valoria on October 21, 2016

      NecroNuke9 - Keep them coming!

      Light and the Darkness -
Our Worlds of the Portal (WotP) universe is a story about the Light and the Darkness. The Darkness emerged from the Void and soon the Light followed, thus beginning an eternal battle. Every campaign world in our universe has a representation of the Supernatural and the Darkness, but only on Earth does the Darkness manifest as demons. On Earth, when the Light encountered the Darkness, the Darkness fractured into the seven sin natures.

      Supplements -
      * GM Guide (Expanded Magic, Spells, Environments, etc.)
      * Players Guide (Prestige Classes, Expanded Equipment and Weapons, Feats, etc.)
      * Bestiary Series (The Dead, The Damned, The Darklands)
      * Adventure Series (We have a number of adventure path concepts)
      * Scavenge Maps (Packs of illustrated laminated maps of scavenge locations for the table)
      * Spawn Minis (High quality cardboard minis with our awesome art)
      * Living App (We are really excited to deliver a living campaign world)

      Devils & Other Creatures -
The above list of books will introduce many additional creatures. Most of those will be in the bestiaries, but some will first appear in an adventure.
Example: "Horror Scope" will be a higher level adventure introducing the Zodiac, twelve devils once given influence over time that had been hiding out on Earth for over two thousand years.

World of the Portal Campaign Settings -
      * Purgatory the Tormented (Sword and Sorcery, connects all WotP)
      * Cataclysm the Fallen (High Fantasy)
      * Eclipse the Emergence (Mid-Fantasy)
      * Void the Oblivion (TBD)

      What is the Darkness?

    43. Rusted Portal Games 2-time creator on October 20, 2016

NecroNuke9: LOVE THE QUESTIONS! Answering all here...

Ghosts - Yes, there are a number of different ghosts. All are unique builds to AtR. Listing those included in this core rulebook below.
      * Emotes: Raw emotion held together by fragments of a tormented soul. Grief, Terror, Rage, and Loathing are the four included in the core book.
      * Shade - Spirit harvesting souls to power their wretched lantern.
      * Shadow - Living shadow that attaches to the living and duplicates their physical being.
      * Apparition - Our true ghost, this twisted soul harnesses supernatural energy to devastating effect.
      * Poltergeist - A collection of spirits bound by tragedy or collected by falling victim to to creature.

Lazarus - Souls manifest to solid form after escaping Purgatory!

Humans & Lazarus - These two races do not have sub-types.

Demons/Devils - Demons are creations of the Darkness, now fractured by sin nature. Devils were once Angels corrupted by the Darkness. For sure a difference! No devils included in the core rulebook.

Risen - The souls from Purgatory that created Risen can only possess the bodies of dead humans. Inanimate objects can be possessed by some demons and maybe some ghosts.

Augmenter - Love this idea, especially for a Harbinger prestige class!

    44. NecroNuke9
      on October 20, 2016

From the Q&A there seems to be different types of spirits and ghosts. Am I correct?

    45. NecroNuke9

Are the Lazarus possessed corpses or are they souls manifesting a solid form?

    46. NecroNuke9

Since Descended and Progeny have subtypes do Humans and Lazarus have subtypes?

    47. NecroNuke9

Is there a difference between devils and demons or are they just names for the same thing?

    48. NecroNuke9

Risen are created when souls from Purgatory possess human corpses. Can those souls possess animal corpses and/or inanimate objects to create new type of Risen?
