Oil Adventure in Appalachia : a Documentary from Kentucky

72 backers pledged $25,241 to help bring this project to life.

If oil wells could talk...

... what would they tell us? This one was drilled in the early 1950's and according the records pumped for 10 years before it was set on idle until it was restarted around 1981 for a short time. Who were the guys that drilled this well? They most likely used a cable tool rig http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Well_spudder_8606.jpg to drill to about 1700ft - it took more than 6 weeks to complete. Today drillers use rotary rigs (still based on 1970s basic design) to drill to the same depth in just about a week.

The film crew and the four adventurers have also been busy going through the briefings, the locations, and of course the logistics of getting "a ton" of film equipment onto a regional jet to fly into and out of Lexington Kentucky on US Air... Do they really charge per piece?????

We now have 33 backers and are inching closer to our goal! Please continue to spread the word!!

yours,

Philipp
