***If you pledge @ the $30 level or more, we are going to add a SECOND copy of the paperback version of the book, just in case your kid destroys the first one :)...or use it as a gift!***
Check out a preview here.
This book is 100% done. We are only looking for printing and distribution funds.
It will be a 20 page, full color 8.5" x 8.5" book.
So what's this book about?
We would be lying if we said it wasn't about a girl and boy who farted a lot. It definitely is that. However, it's so much more. I Can't Stop Tooting is about being weird and thinking there is something wrong with you until you find people that accept you unconditionally.
Children almost unanimously feel like outsiders and that they don't fit in. It's so important to have stories that tell them they should embrace that strangeness.
Which is exactly what I Can't Stop Tooting is about at its core. We just chose to tell it in a way that kids will enjoy...and kid's love farting.
Who is the creative team behind this brilliant piece of thing?
We've assembled an amazing team to tell this story. This is the brainchild of Garrett Gunn, who wrote and created the amazing Battle for Bedtime.
He paired up with our very dear friend Nicolas Touris, who draws Godlikes for Insane Comics and Faithless for Wannabe Press, to handle drawing duties. We adore Nicolas at Wannabe Press and are so happy he fell in love with the story.
Wait, This Book Already Has a Publisher? What's it Doing Here Then?
Well first off, we bring all our projects to Kickstarter for one simple reason, we want the fans to be able to get special perks that nobody else will ever be able to get...ever again.
We'll never do special thanks, being drawn into the book, or any of our high end perks any other time.
Second, we are small...like microscopic small...so the only way we can afford to print enough copies of books is if we can get a solid preorder campaign from Kickstarter.
The good news is this: I Can't Stop Tooting is done. It's ready for the printer.
And we know what we're doing.
Our last book shipped within a month of us closing the campaign. We are exceedingly good at fulfilling Kickstarter campaigns.
But at the end of the day we really need Kickstarter to function as a company, prove these concepts, and bring weird and wholly original books into the world.
Alright, so I see you do comics and novels...but what makes you think you can do a children's book?
First, we have done one children's book before. It's included in every campaign pledge level and families love it.
Children's books are visual story telling at their core. Garrett, Nicolas, and Wannabe Press are all visual storytellers. We know how to meld visuals and words into a compelling story that is as entertaining as it is thought provoking.
We also consult with people who work with children to make sure the story follows appropriate rhyming patterns, that the images resonate with children, and that this is a story they want to hear.
We are very confident in the fact that not only is this a story children need to hear, but that it's going to be one they want to hear as well.
I hope you pledge to this campaign, because these weird books only come into being with your help.
Risks and challenges
As there risks, of course there are always risks.
We mitigate those risks as best we can by knowing our distribution chain.
We know exactly who is printing and distributing this book. We know the
shipping costs. We've done this enough that the only issue we run into is how quickly people return their surveys, and how long it takes the artist to redraw the pages to include specific pledge levels.
However, that is not to say something couldn't change. We have had delays before which set us back a couple of months. So even though we do everything in our power to mitigate risks, sometimes there are production delays which push things back.
Specifically, this book has some pledge levels like being drawn into the book. Depending on how quickly people get back to us determines how quickly those reward tiers get fulfilled.
We are supremely confident we will ship expediently barring any unforeseen circumstances, though.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
