About this project
The Puffe- is a portable battery-powered heated blanket. It warms you in seconds and can charge your mobile devices. It is durable, water resistant, machine washable, and extremely lightweight. It is the smartest, most travel-ready heated blanket ever designed.
It comes in Moss Green...
And Charcoal Grey...
It's available in two versions: Sustainably sourced Natural Down fill and Synthetic fill. Both types pack down and fit in a small stuff sack for easy transport.
And it's the first ever Kickstarter project created by three companies that were all formed on Kickstarter.
It's packed with the features you need...
The Puffe- Blanket in Synthetic Fill
The Puffe- Blanket in Natural Down Fill
The Puffe- Blanket in Synthetic Fill (no battery)
The Puffe- Blanket in Natural Down Fill (no battery)
Power Practical 12V Battery
The Puffe- is made with the same high performance materials commonly found in premium sleeping bags and puffy jackets. The shell material is a DWR Ripstop 20D Nylon that is durable and water resistant.
There are two fill options to choose from: Sustainably sourced Natural Down fill and Synthetic Fill. Both options are highly packable, ultralight, and rated to 45 degrees without the heating element turned on.
The Puffe- warms up in seconds using the Ravean carbon heating system. This revolutionary system is insanely durable and literally cannot lose conductivity unless it’s cut by a machete. Additionally, the system is exceptionally safe because it's not made of metal so you'll never come in contact with hot wires. All wiring is buried between two 'sandwiched' baffle constructions rendering the heating system completely unnoticeable. There are 3 different heat settings, which allow the temperature rating of the Puffe- to be improved by up to 30 degrees.
Charging and Power:
The Power Practical battery can be fully recharged in 90 minutes and can charge your mobile devices up to 4 times. It can run the blanket for 10 hours on the low-heat setting, 6 hours on medium-heat, and 4 hours on high-heat.
Sizing and Storage:
Both the natural down and the synthetic fill versions are 54"x80" when laid flat and can easily cover even the tallest travelers. The down version weighs just 2.1 lbs and compresses into a stuff sack that measures 6x12", while the synthetic version weighs 3.4 lbs and packs down to 8x16".
Between Rumpl, Ravean, and Power Practical, we have successfully funded 9 Kickstarter campaigns. We've done this before and we do it really well. This ain't some guy in a garage... All three companies are legit businesses that operate 365 days a year, distributing products to customers all over the world. You should feel confident in our history of success.
We've searched far and wide, and as far as we can tell, this is the first ever partnership between, not two, but three brands that were all launched on Kickstarter. This collaboration shows the true power of this amazing platform. Kickstarter has enabled all of us to collaborate and pursue our passions full-time. We are so thankful for the opportunities that this community's support has provided to us. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!
Help foster more creative collaboration by supporting this partnership...
Kickstarter allows you to pledge money for products that will be made in the future if the funding goal is met. You can think of your pledge as a Pre-Order for something that has not yet been produced. Pledging can also be referred to as "backing a project", and as a result, you become a "Backer." Backing a project is more than just pledging funds, it's pledging your support to a creative idea that you want to see exist in the world. In the case of the Puffe-, you're pledging to support creativity and collaboration among entrepreneurial minds. Additionally, by backing this project, you'll be among the first in the world to receive the Puffe- Blanket, and you'll also get a nice discount off expected retail price! It's really easy, here are the steps:
1. Choose a reward level.
Everybody can choose one (and only one) reward level to back this project. You cannot choose 2 reward levels. Just one. You will get all items in that reward—you cannot swap things that you don't want for things that you do want.
2. Make a Pledge.
Enter your payment information to pledge for the reward you chose.
3. Relax, you're done for now. But feel free to tell all your friends.
All details like shipping information, color preference, and other specifics will be collected via survey after this campaign has ended.
Risks and challenges
Between Rumpl, Ravean, and Power Practical, we have 9 successfully funded Kickstarters since 2012. This is a platform we know very well and you should feel confident in our ability to execute. That being said, all three of us have been blindsided more than once by completely unexpected issues. We've always dealt with them in a way that leaves every last customer happy with their purchase and proud to have supported our companies. And we solemnly swear that should unforeseen issues come up, we will handle them with the utmost transparency and care for you, our backers.
If all goes well during our funding campaign, we'll finish up with a giant heap of preorders for our new products. Of course we're trying our hardest to predict our future demand and plan accordingly, but it's far from an exact science. While this ain't our first Kickstarter rodeo, our forecasting capabilities aren't the same as what you might expect from a big company.
Supply Chain Risk
Although all of us have fully dialed supply chains, there is always risk when building products abroad. If a container shipment is delayed for 2 weeks in customs or a batch of new material doesn't pass QA testing, our fulfillment schedule—even if padded—can start to slip.
Acts of God
Rumpl is based in San Francisco, Power Practical and Ravean are based in Salt Lake City. Rumpl might experience an earthquake that shuts down the entire city while Power Practical and Ravean might experience literal acts of God.
Yes! Both the Down and the Synthetic versions are machine washable and made with a shell material DWR Ripstop 20D Nylon that is super durable. You can find the care instructions here.
The Synthetic Blanket weighs 3.4 lbs and measures in at 54"x80" The Down Blanket weighs 2.1 lbs and measures in at 54"x80" The Power Practical Battery weighs 7 oz so take that into account if you plan on purchasing the battery as well!
Power Practical offers a one-year warranty on all products so if there are any issues with the battery pack within the first year, they'll send a replacement. The Blanket will have a 90-day warranty.
Our down is 100% fair trade certified and obtained as a harm-free by-product of the food industry. Both our down supplier and our factory are audited yearly by the IDFL (International Down and Feather Testing Laboratory) receiving the DOWNPASS certification. It is the same idea as Patagonia, but of course, it's a different supply chain from theirs.
If you'd like to pledge more than one blanket, please just pledge that amount and remember to include the shipping for each blanket. If you send us a direct message with the blankets you ordered and the quantity of each, I will make a note of it so nothing slips through the cracks! Example: If you live in Canada and you want to order one Early Bird Synthetic and one Early Bird Down, please pledge 199 + 70 + 299 + 70 = 638.
YES, just added! PLEASE NOTE: Shipping to Australia only includes the shipping costs. YOU WILL BE CHARGED VAT ON DELIVERY. We estimate that it will be an additional 25%+ on your order.
Yes and no. The blanket requires a 12V power source, and a 12V battery pack would provide enough power, but you'd need the correct adapter to accommodate the barrel size of the Puffe-. The Puffe-'s plug has a 6mm diameter with a 1.5mm pin, so as long as that fits into your battery pack, you're good to go! If the power bank has an A/C outlet, then no need to worry about barrel size because the Rumpl's A/C adapter will work!
At the moment, there are no plans to create any stretch goals.
We met with our Accountants to find the cheapest possible shipping solution. The shipping cost covers everything so that you won't have to pay any duties or VAT upon delivery! We wanted to be as transparent as possible from the start.
The heating element is placed in the middle to get you as much heat as possible with a portable battery pack. At this point with the technology, you would need a car battery to charge your blanket if the entire blanket had heating elements embedded in it. We think you will love the design!
There is no timer function available but there is an on/off feature.
It takes about 90 minutes to completely charge up!
The loops are for you to attach the rumpl to another rumpl, to stake it down to the ground, to create a "sleeping bag," to hang it up, etc. It's up to your creative discretion!
That isn't a part of our plan at the moment, but it's just a generic adapter that you should easily be able to find an adapter for.
