Hi There, i did not get my item yet.
Anyways, after seeing all the comments and reviews, i think i will take a refund and put it on foldable solar panel. Please make the refund ASAP. Thanks.
My 20k has started to inflate like a balloon.
I worry it will burst soon.
This is the same problem as the Note 7 phones- the battery is going to burst!
Pictures attached. It gets worse every day.
Please provide me a full refund.

Anyone else having trouble getting support? I got two, and one of them won't turn off. I've been trying for a month to raise them by email with no response - not even an auto-responder. I don't want to be one of "those people" that spams their next project, but I will if that's the only way to get their attention.
@sergey
When you were using your 20k on your bike, did you have the port open with cord plugged in to charge your phone while riding? If so, the ports themselves are not waterproof and rain will damage the internals if exposed to a decent amount of water. There are few products out there with water resistant usb ports while in use.
@ Chris Williams, @Creator of this Kickstarter
Yep, I wrote this up about my 20K becoming completely dead after being in the rain for 30 minutes on July31:
"Up until today i was enjoying the benefits for the battery with a few exceptions;
the ports would charge in a weird pattern, if i had 2 plugged in from the same side they would charge for 30 seconds and shut off, to have 2 devices charging at the same time i had to use one usb port plugged in at one end and one at the other. minor thing really, but still , didn't see logic in it.
all charging on all plugs would stop if the device itself was being charged. Something that was critical for me, and I believe is a promised function (correct me if i'm wrong)
the solar panel never fully charged the device.
But today it stopped working completely, i never took it out for any hard core use, but this weekend i had a motorcycle trip planned and wanted to keep some of my devices charging while i rode. At first the unit was working very well, i got a lot of people in ,my riding group ask me about it , as I had it secured to my handlebars with a (ram mount)... But during one stretch of road we hit some rain (medium heavy), my phone was also mounted on the handlebars and isn't in waterproom casing and it worked though the ride, what i can't say about the SOS 20K, half way through the ride it stopped charging and all the lights went out, I tried reviving it , but alas. Once i got it home after a few hours of leaving it alone i tried charging it, the first blue light flashes very rapidly but nothing else happens, the LED lights won't work and pressing the charge button is not responsive. I will try to plug in again in 24 hours, but I think it's pretty dead and what's even more concerning is that it can't take a few hours of rain, even though is geared fro out door use and even a dip in a stream according to the promo video
any help with this would be very appreciated , because I really like the product and would love to recommend it to my riding buddies, as long as it works as it should, that is...
thanks in advance, "
I sent emails to all available addresses and reached out via private message on Insta ,,, No reply ... I'm giving this till Monday(15) Gonna have spill over to other projects and sources. A product is only a good as it's function, that includes replacing or fixing it, (or even explaining what could be the issue so we can look into solutions on our end, some I suspect are pretty handy with a solder iron) ... ignoring backers and just starting up another venture while the current one is not operational is duplicitous at best...
Any response Sean?
Took my SOS camping last weekend...after 3 days, in FULL SUN, it stayed at half (2 blue lights)...the green light was on the entire time (except night, of course).
Your product sucks none of the cords work and two of the ports stopped working since I've been out of contact with civilization I haven't been able to report this. You have so much potential my friends keep asking about this product and since we spend so much time in the field this would be such a great addition for a lot of military personnel.

Hi, The battery is not charing anymore. I have been charging for 10 hours and the light signal didn't go up more than 2 level. Also, the port is very loose and it takes me lot of efforts to get it charged. Please advise how to send back to you for quality check

I emailed them at contact@roamproof.com and they did respond after about a day. They said "Our customer response time is actually quite fast - those who get no response, are simply not paying attention to our very clear updates on the 20K campaign - these updates have stated again and again that the only way to contact us after the product has been shipped is here [contact@roamproof.com]".
If you haven't tried contacting them using that address I would suggest you use it as it is the only way. If you have been using it and haven't gotten a response then that is rather more disappointing given their claim and can only suggest you email again as there is no other option available.
Have tried several times to contact customer service about my defective SOS 20K. They have not answered or acknowledged my emails in over 12 days now. I was excited about their new macro boom speaker campaign, but have since cancelled my pledge as i refuse to support this company anymore.
Having an equally difficult time with customer service. Mine hasn't even arrived yet and my messages asking for help are going unanswered. It is such an easy thing to do and so important for establishing a good brand rep. I suspect they are not even monitoring this project anymore. If I hear nothing by the being of next week, I'm going to post on the board of their new project. Hate to be that sort of a guy, but might be the only way to get a response and maybe let backers over there know that there is a customer service issue. Hopefully they will do something about it.
Super disappointed in Roamproof as a company. When I received my power bank, ports 3 & 4 didn't work and only one of the three flashlight functions worked. When I emailed them about my issues and told them I had followed the procedures to turn on the different flashlight functions, they responded by telling me to try those procedures, a sad indication that they did not read my email thoroughly. Roamproof eventually emailed me a shipping label so I could return my dysfunctional bank for a new one. Sadly, it's been a month since I've sent my old one away and my new one has yet to arrive. I've even e-mailed Roamproof asking them what's going on, and, three days later, they've yet to respond. These guys have some nice ideas, but be wary of them. Customer service here is poor, and whether or not you get a properly working product from them is a gamble.
I reckon this is a scam to steal people's money. I still haven't received the product yet. I paid for the product 6 months ago. Don't trust these frauds.
I've still not received mine in the Falkland Islands. We are remote, but at most it adds two weeks to the delivery time and I see others having had theirs for over a month. Can you provide any information.
Cheers,
David
so jacked for the speaker(s). Definitely opting for the daisy chain two speaker combo. Think of the possibilities... having people over for a camp fire, or at a camp site and you have only one point of low key music/feel good music, but not everyone can hear as it is pointed one direction, now you have two points of music so everyone can hear, both playing the same music... very nice. Also, out SUPing or kayaking with your significant other, put one on each board, play from same phone same music and both can listen to music and not mix each others songs together.
got my SOS a few weeks ago and been loving it since, people need to remember i am seeing a lot of people saying the battery isn't giving them the full 10 charges on a iPhone or something like that. yes thats normal for any 20k battery as while you charge your phone it uses more then the full 2000mah as the phone is still turned on using battery. the solar charger works but is slow as i would have expected due to the size of the panel but works in a pinch. i will test the proper output using a meter over the next few days and show you all what it actually gets output wise
@Cooking Mama @E, Owning several solar charging devices, I can tell you it is the norm for Solar charging to decrease battery life. From my experiences however, this is usually a quite minimal degredation in charge, and only lasts until your next wall outlet charge. with this, I simply recommend fully charging the device from the USB input prior to taking it on an expedition with you, and use the solar to top it up while away from an outlet. I had done this with a much smaller battery (where a much higher percentage of the available charge was being depleted and recharged via solar everyday) and had no perceiveable drop in performance for over a week long period relying on solar charging alone.
As for anyone complaining about not being able to get 10 full recharges on your 2000 mAh phone, it has to do with efficiency. Any time your phone (or other electronics) begins getting warm during charging it is due to electrical energy beig lost as heat from the device. This electrical inefficency and loss of energy as heat is inherent to all current charging technologies.
Hello, I'm a backer living in Japan but I have still not received my SOS20K x2 sets yet.
Could you tell me when did you send the product? How long do I have to wait?
Please advise ASAP.
I agree with E. I'm disappointed to learn that the solar panel decreases the battery life. The solar power was my sole reason for purchasing this to be able to utilize the sun's energy. I already own many other charger packs that work via electricity. Can you elaborate on amount of battery life degradation with each solar charge? Based on your online information, it states "Extend the life of any internal battery by charging through a wall adapter using provided charging cables." By plugging it into the wall, will it bring the battery life back up to the original life expectancy after the decrease from solar charging?
I received mine 2 weeks ago and it's not as good as I expected it to be. An iPhone has approximately a 2000mah battery and the SOS20K should be able to charge it around 10 times. I only got 5 charges for my iPhone which is disappointing. Furthermore the flaps that are used to cover the USB ports broke of very easily which gets rid of the waterproof feature. This product is not worth the price especially because I had to pay $50 on top for import tax.
I only received one of two and am still waiting to hear back from customer support on the second. I took it to the Canton this weekend snd it was great charging one device, good at charging 2, but completely shut down when I connected a third device. As soon as I unplugged the third device the other two started charging again. On the plus side, we had rain, sleet snd slush and none of that seemed to bother it. On the down side, I can seem to recharge the battery. It was plugged in for 24 hours and won't charge (started at 3 lights and still at 3 lights). I'm going to try solar charging to see if that works.
Left the unit in the sun for 7 days now and the charge is still only at 1 blue light out of 4. I checked everyday day and no change in the charge level.
Yes the green indicator light were ON when the unit was in the sun. I thought 59hours was all it took?
No issues with using USB to charge.
Unit also came with no instructions or info and would not be ideal as a gift if none was provided to begin (e.g, how to switch on the light. )
Person receiving it would have no idea what is so special about the unit of its capabilities.
Use this space to cheer the creator along, ask questions, and talk to your fellow backers. Please remember to be respectful and considerate. Thanks!
