From the very first page of this Rue Royale story we have enjoyed a direct relationship with you, our audience. That is what this Kickstarter is about. It is about us reaching out to you directly to raise the funds needed to complete what we think is our most meaningful and colourful music yet.
You have watched us grow and move through life’s weird twists and curves over the last 10 years. You have stayed with us, supported, encouraged and enabled us along this bizarre and splendid journey. We’re thankful.
A year and a half ago we hit pause on touring in order to have a child and to spend some time writing and recording our next album. We also needed a break. To be honest, we were feeling pretty worn down as the brunt of 6 to 7 years on the road had taken a toll.
Naively, we thought this would be a restful period. Instead, the realities of anxiously waking up at home with no tours planned and the insecurities that come with being rookie parents and a growing and self-imposed pressure to write and record something meaningful proved to be a turbulent period.
We have worked tirelessly on these songs. We are all wrapped up in them. It has been a fruitful season and we have recorded an album and an e.p. Artistically, we have benefited from the time off the road and these new experiences. We feel like we have really been able to push the boat out; writing in a new way and working with a wider range of sounds and rhythms. One factor in this has been our relationship with Sean Carey (Bon Iver and S. Carey) who we worked on the songs with at the studio in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Sean really added something to the Rue Royale sound, playing drums, piano, singing and more,” says Brookln.
We still have a couple of bits and bobs to record, then to mix, master and press the album to CD & vinyl. We plan to release the album early in 2017 preceded by the e.p. in July (which every pledger gets!).
Our minimum goal is £12,293.76. This will cover all of our expenses left with the album and e.p. including some studio time, mixing, mastering, manufacturing as well as all of the postage and associated Kickstarter fees (10%). If we don’t reach that number, we get nothing. It’s all or nothing. So our future is in your hands. #nopressure
Hopefully, one of the options below peaks your interest and you join in.
What happens if we raise more than £12,293.76 ?
// It has cost us a LOT more to make these recordings up to now, so any extra will take a little financial heat off of us.
// Promo - We’ve never really had a lot of promo go into our releases. We sure would love to hire some help to get the word out.
// Instruments for touring (we’ve had to sell a few to get the record this far)
// We would love to raise enough to make a couple of music videos
// Tour nanny - hiring soon :)
// Tshirts, totes, etc..
// If the money were to really heap up, we’d make another album
// Children’s book & album

Risks and challenges
Seeing that the majority of the music is recorded and living on (multiple) hard drives. We're pretty safe. If we meet the goal, we finish the project. Easy peasy.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
