Amazon.com would not take the dispute because of the age. I filed with my Credit Card Company / Bank since it was a debit card. I had no problem getting my money back just had to call them and sign a couple of forms!
HunterL, did you file a payment dispute with Amazon or your credit card company, and did you have any issues obtaining a refund?
He was just a liar, a con artists, and a scum bag. Thats it. I am sure we won't be getting anything now since he is going to be locked out from here now. You all might want to get the paperwork moving on getting your refund. I have mine already in with my bank
I didn't see that comment, how terrible! How could he blame other people for his own mistakes and then turn it around to make it seem like it's our fault that he's in "trouble" now?! A simple email explaining things and actual CONTACT through email would have gone a long way, not communicating and then placing the blame on other people just makes people suspect that they're getting cheated even more.
Yeh he posted your address on here I couldn't believe it. Once I saw it I reported him and I guess they have deleted him entirely from the system.... What a child.....

You put yourself over a barrel with your lies and deceit. This was not a kickstarter to start-up your business, your business had been going for a while. Not all kickstarters are about starting a new business some, like yours are people who want to have there product exposed to a larger audience (I have Backed several like this so please don't tell me what I backed) you were here selling candles, expensive candles at that, Candles that were so expensive That I cant even put into word how insulted I am that you have the nerve to bitch about shipping costs. You must really think were stupid to not know that the shipping cost had to be built in to the pledge with a very sizable profit for your self? You see that didn't matter to us because we thought were were helping a hard working family man. Do you really think any of us would normally spend this much on a few candles asshole? Your Broke? Really!! Were Did the money that was suppose to take care of the people who supported you go? There Is nothing in this world that I Hate more then a dishonest person. Wasn't it a few days ago you were telling us to file claims with USPS? Tell Me How simple would it have been if you had a family emergency or some thing and needed to spend the money to just tell us. Do you think things would have gone differently? Don't you Think That every one of us hasn't been there a one point or another? Paul, acting patient went out the window when an update was updated with a picture of a box with my rewards that was "going out in the morning" on May 10th. Finally a month later it was sent. Go back and read updates 9, 10 and 11 they are all lies, 3 months of lies. If you want to be patient while being lied to continuously that's your prerogative but a lot of people won't be as patient.
How can you not get over that he says one thing and does something else. In one of his post he has stated that kickstarter won't let him in his account anymore yet he has just posted an update. He has took pictures of packages stating that they are shipping tomorrow when really the two people just got them and it was post marked this past tuesday? Being lied to is not how this process works. Any company at all cannot just lie to its customers it is just unacceptable.
I just saw a project update, and wondered what the heck was happening with the backers. I read through 50+ comments. I think everyone needs to calm down and stop being so vengeful; backing a kickstarter project is not like ordering from an established company. Give the guy a break. Yes he ought to have checked in more often... but please, fellow supports, act like mature, patient people.
:) at least two of you got pictures, I am holding out hope that things have happened and this isnt my first sting from KS. Hopefully things will get worked out and we receive our pledge rewards.
I do like how he won't even both to come here and face our comments but will take his time to post lies on our comments on Amazon.com. It appears that is the only new income stream that he is checking up on. I am sure more people could post reviews of how he used kickstarter the wrong way.

"You are the one who has all the tracking numbers why do you not provide them so that we can file USPS claims. I am sure all 39 of us will do that is you could provide us actual information that you sent them out. Instead of just taking pictures of a couple of boxes with two different people names on them and never sending them out. It seems a couple of people might actual be getting some of the smaller rewards now that we are telling everyone what you have done. Or are you afraid of the Federal Charges that could be put against you for fraud across state lines? Because I am sure once the credit cards all notice all these chargebacks to your company they will join in a suite against you. And then you can answer to them or just not respond like you have done to all of us."
I received my package today. I too was at the $25 level. I was sent a random scent because one of my choices was "sold out." My package just like Brian's was post marked Tuesday. Hopefully all of you receive your packages or at least some sort of compensation after all of this. I am very interested to see if anyone who's package wasn't put up in a picture receives their stuff.
This Guy actually had the nerve to reply to a bad review I gave his book on amazon by telling me that the package was sent out and that it must have been lost and that I should file a claim with USPS. I guess the other 38 Backers all must of had there there packages lost by USPS ? This guy really thinks that every one is stupid. now that putting a few bad reviews on amazon is screwing with hes chance to screw even more people with his book maybe he will actually send me what I paid for.
I supported on the $25 level, and received the 3 candles associated with that. I do have the benefit of being less than 50 miles away, so that may explain why it got to me in one day. I cancelled my payment dispute with amazon (which sounds like wouldn't have worked anyway according to Hunter) last night.
Oh, that's good news! Perhaps we will get our candles after all! Better communication though would have saved a lot of us unnecc. trouble...
Amazon payments would not allow me to file a dispute because the transaction was over 105 days old. I did file it with my Credit Card Company.
Brian what level did you support on and did you receive everything that you were promised?
I got home today, and there was a package waiting for me. It was the Ruberry candles. I don't know if anyone else got them, but I thought I should let you all know mine arrived. It was postmarked yesterday, but I only live one state over from the company, so it got here fast.

email@example.com and noticed his wife has one too, firstname.lastname@example.org. Wonder if she knows her husband is stealing money from other people....
https://payments.amazon.com, you sign in, find the transaction in your payments. Copy the ID and then click the button on the bottom then choose #2 Submit a complaint. Then you fill in the details and submit.

I filed a payment dispute with my credit card company. How did you file a dispute with Amazon. How does someone take people money in March and post pictures of things made then never send them out. It is not like we hadn't already paid for product. This guy gives a bad name to KickStarter
I contacted Amazon and filed a payment dispute. Hopefully they can resolve this.
I think the amazon link is the final straw for me. I will be calling my credit card company today to see what I can do about reversing payment.
According to his facebook page, he closed the store down sometime in late April, would be interesting to see if it's actually still up. Totally unacceptable behavior, poor communication skills, and no excuse really...if you check he sends tweets out like every other hour...and Jacob, I think it's so sad he's "written" a book on kickstarter success when this whole thing was just a scam!
I have decided that on my next trip to DC I am going to stop in and visit their shop in Leonardtown, MD. Hopefully then when I confront them in person maybe we can get some answers!!

As much as I hate to say it, I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing buyer's remorse. I agree with Brian - I thought this would be a great thing to back, but with zero communication, it's unacceptable.
I got the same photo as Jacob. I guess those were just empty boxes. It looks like someone (Jacob I think) has already started to post on the Ruberry Candle Company's facebook page. If he's not returning emails, and he's not checking in here (If you look at his profile you can see he hasn't even logged in since 5/23/2012), posting on Facebook for an answer may be a start. Amanda may have the best idea though. I'm really disappointed, I thought these candles sounded like a great idea. Delays happen, but the utter lack of communication from Gary is unacceptable.

I certainly haven't received anything! I've notified kickstarter and they wrote back saying we could request a refund from Gary but he's not obliged to refund us, I've gone ahead and asked my credit card company to lodge a dispute claim against the payment he collected! This whole thing is starting to sound like we got scammed!!!
