We hope you enjoyed our pitch from DEATHCELL's warden Ryan, as well as our teaser; a visual concept to help bring it to life.
In a divided post-brexit Britain, trust is no longer a concept which exists amongst its people. In an attempt to settle the public unrest, the government wrote into law the Harmony Act 2019, immediately setting up civil detention centres where anyone from the public can nominate someone who causes them upset to be detained. After years of corruption and misuse, the government lost control of these institutions, and they became their own entity. Those who were sent, often never returned - presumed dead - these public prisons earned a new name amongst the citizens of the country. Deathcell.
Approx. 30 minute live-action experience in the heart of London, combining immersive theatre where the guest truly decides their own fate, mixed with a classic intense ‘horror maze’ experience that is not for the faint-hearted. Those curious enough to undertake Deathcell will be pushed to their limits, forced to make unprecedented choices that will affect everyone in the experience. Betrayal, deceit and impossible decisions lay ahead for those who enter. Will you do what it takes to escape?
Deathcell was born from the mind of Steph Ricketts, who actually got round to putting the idea onto paper back in January whilst locked in a hotel and accompanied by plenty of cheese and wine. (It probably helped...) As someone who had always dreamed of putting on her own scare experience, this was just the start and is R Space Productions first project.
We've already started work on this project, and the past few months we have been designing, rehearsing and organising this new experience we'd like to bring to London. Check below for some of the work so far:
We have all the drive, passion, skills and knowledge for this to be a great success, but unfortunately not the pennies. (50,000 to be exact...) This is where you can help us keep Deathcell running beyond our imaginations and bring it to life.
Our prefered venue (The Old Joinery, Greenwich) will cost us 3k for a week's hire, and on top of that we need to ensure we cover operational and production costs, not to even mention the tech and set...
We need £5000 to cover the basics, but anymore than that will help ensure we put on the best experience possible for our visiting inmates and current residents of Deathcell. Without your support, Deathcell will not be possible.
Some of the costings this project includes:
- Venue Hire
- Public Liability Insurance
- Make Up
- Scenic resources
- Set dressing
- Backstage facilities
- Health & Safety equipment
- Audio/attraction soundtrack
As you can see, we have a lot to cover. Any donations are sincerely appreciated, and we hope you can help be a part of something that means a lot to us!

Risks and challenges
We will face many challenges whilst trying to bring this project to life, however it is nothing that we haven't dealt with in the past.
We are giving ourselves one week late Aug - early September to put this on, including set up, pack down and being live to the public. That's a lot to pack into 7 days!
Also, whilst this project is a labour of love and something we are all passionate about delivering, we all hold down full time jobs and spend our free time working on this. That in itself puts us against the clock, and we appreciate any help we receive along the way. Taking the time off to rehearse, build sets, as well as funding trips to London and resources all add up in both cost and time.
Without hitting our goal, it makes Deathcell an incredibly hard project to pull off. Although we will be able to deliver with what is available to us, we truly believe that anyone wanting to step into the world of 'Deathcell' should be completely immersed in the universe we create.
We thank you in advance for any help, donations and support we receive during this project!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
