Quick Update

Hey, all. Just a very quick Update and a couple of photos today. I’ll have much more to post later this week.

Why do I say that? Because Ninja John received these last night, and they’re now on their way to us:

And so are these:

We should get them tomorrow. Jeff and I will then have to examine them all very carefully, and get any changes or approvals back to the factory as quickly as we can, because the final bits of tooling can begin as soon as we say “go.” We’re hopefully just a couple of weeks away from production beginning in earnest.

And just to quickly address some concerns over a story some of you have seen on an industry news site, please keep in mind that the info they quote came from a press release we sent to our distributors. The dates they mention are what we told our distributors, because that’s when we expect to ship retail product to them. That’s not when you guys get yours, because we ship yours first.

Bear with us, folks. We’re in the home stretch.

he has nothing better to do I guess....

Watch these, they are pretty good

    5. Red Duke Games on May 16, 2014

I took the photo while I was unpacking the metal demo figs for the demo game for everyone. It was another comparison photo. Why are you trying to find fault in everything? Are you jealous? Afraid your missing out or something? There is no favoritism. Mike and myself are under NDA 's . We want to do stuff for a project we believe in. We make sure we don't do anything without approval. We are attempting to build a community here and your trying to break it apart. What's wrong? Why?

    6. Mike "Morpheus" on May 16, 2014

Tom was sent some of the models they have used in the Demos. So not what we will be getting but at least they will do a good video of a 300 point game. That's like 3-4 squadrons each.

    7. There is no Wave 2 ! ! ! on May 16, 2014

so curious what they will be using for this so called "event" for the pieces? will they have models or will the be using some makeshift of theirs ?

    8. Mike "Morpheus" on May 16, 2014

If I remember right Tom took that himself and posted it in the FB group

    9. There is no Wave 2 ! ! ! on May 16, 2014

and what about all those minis in the one photo ? you know the one with the fig , lego minifig and plastic soldier in front of ?

    10. Mike "Morpheus" on May 16, 2014

Nobody is getting anything first, I've been posting them as I can since I've been busy today. The first email I sent when I started getting these back was if I could share them. So you out of line because your statements are based on a lack of knowledge of what is really going on.

    11. There is no Wave 2 ! ! ! on May 16, 2014

so essentially their getting something before the rest of us do? right ? also noticed the pic of the mechs too.

    12. Mike "Morpheus" on May 16, 2014

The pics on the one I sent to Tom and Jeff was all stuff I found on the internet

    13. Mike "Morpheus" on May 16, 2014

No, Tom asked me for a cheat sheet. I wrote one up quickly and sent it to Tom and Jeff, Jeff, wanted to change the pics a bit and add the trademark stuff. Rick, Don't be an ass.

    14. There is no Wave 2 ! ! ! on May 16, 2014

sounds like their support of PB paid off.

    15. There is no Wave 2 ! ! ! on May 16, 2014

So essentially PB is showing favoritism by giving some people advance stuff before the rest of us backers?

    16. Jorel Levenson on May 16, 2014

WRRD had them and Jeff had sent both of them the files. So WRRD can use them at a con this weekend. Mike wrote part of the layout I believe and then PB added the art and yes there are typos in this rough version like Stealth instead of steal

    17. There is no Wave 2 ! ! ! on May 16, 2014

Also curious how he got stuff before any of the rest of us backers, when he claims he does not work for Palladium ?

    18. There is no Wave 2 ! ! ! on May 16, 2014

So essentially Mike can show the rules with artwork while Palladium cannot, something odd here.

    19. Jorel Levenson on May 16, 2014

Mikes Google Drive now has 6 pages of the official rules that WRRD is using to run at a con tomorrow...

here are 3 pages of official rules. I will post a link to 3 more when Mike gets them up on the facebook...

@Khyron's Eye Yeah, they do not say if that includes cutting out the pieces and any cleanup that might need to be done on them. So 15 mins assembly could just be gluing them together after all the prep work. Would have been nice to also have a front and back view.

    22. There is no Wave 2 ! ! ! on May 16, 2014

I can honestly say it did not take 15 minutes to assemble both models, seeing as how pieces will have to dry with the glue before being attached to another part, or your gonna have a mess.

    23. Jorel Levenson on May 16, 2014

I'd guess the guys making the game should be able to assemble them that quickly, it the proper glue is used and sets quickly...

    24. Khyron's Eye on May 16, 2014

      Another post:

      "Ninja Division
Here are examples of actual assembled and primed miniatures from the Glaug Command frame - the Regult Scout Pod, and the Glaug Command Pod - miniature assembly time - 15 minutes for both together - The Glaug's components include: Right and Left leg, each in two parts, two feet, two halves to the main torso, two thruster pods, the main cannon - Right and Left arms with 3 parts each - halves, and then a cap for the end of the main cannons. two whisker lasers, hip segment, eye piece, and an antennae - for a grand total of 22 parts. Assembly is quick, logical, and really nice looking. The Scout pod included two legs, two feet, front and back to the main cockpit, sensor vane and stand, antannea array, thrusters x2, vane antannae x2, hip section, and 3x sensors for the front of the cockpit for 18 pieces."

Fifteen minutes for both together? Still doubting these assembly times. Be nice to see a video of it being done.

      More comments from ND's page:

      "Ninja Division
hey there - this is ninja John - its my job here at Ninja Division to direct the manufacturing and creation of all the miniatures that you will soon be enjoying. We have to make a lot of hard decisions about the miniatures to ensure that we meet the high standards of our partners and the expectations of our customers - As for glue - I have experimented with both bonding agents like plastic glues (testors, and architectural brush on glue-- works like a charm) and super glue and/or locktite - they are both perfect for assembly - you want something with a control tip to prevent extra glue from spoiling your pretty figures. I am working with the engineering team in China as we speak, concerning final parting lines on some of the more egregious examples - some can be mitigated, and part count reduced... some by dint of the details, armor lines, and other required details.. cannot. As an avid hobbyist, I spent time assembling a few recent miniatures kits from a well known company, and am confident that our part count is appropriate for the detail and east of assembly, and we are working to make it easier as best we can."

That's interesting they are actually working on the seams and part count.

@Gregory You have yet to see any of this? You haven't seen them update this KS 2 to 4 times a month? Or if you want to hold anything they say against them on their website, their website is usually updated every week. You haven't seen the pics of the pre-production prototypes? You haven't seen the pics of some of the sprues? You haven't seen the the early pics of the "master sculpts" (they were in yellow)? You didn't see the different pics of the different stages of the template? Pics of the dice? Pics of the prototype tokens?

You can say that you haven't seen a pic of the latest version of the pod assembled (they have pics of earlier versions of pods assembled). And that Wayne said he would try to get us a video and/or pics of it assembled weeks ago but hasn't.

Wanting a refund is fine. Just make sure that you have your actual facts straight. ;)

I have yet to see any of this. You can't even be bothered to show us an assembled pod that you'd said you show us! Just offer refunds to those who want it, and be done with it. Clearly you can't keep your word, and your initial statement of the project being almost completely finished, was utterly false. Give back the money to those who want it, so we can leave, and you can get back too tending to your small herd of sycophantic fan friends.

Just a reminder of PB's statement during the kickstart.
"It is our commitment to you, the Kickstarter backers, that we will maintain consistent communication throughout the process. This means regular updates, product photos, and plenty of behind the scenes insight as we complete the creation of Robotech® RPG Tactics™."

    29. Merijeek on May 16, 2014

And actually, I guess I'm wrong - If they were to actually say "STFU PEASANT!!!", it would actually show more interaction and respect than they actually do.

But I'm sure that dipshit Wayne will get around I answering those questions he had to chase answers for. Otherwise he would be lying, and the people at PB, the people you are convinced are telling you the truth because you've MET THEM SO ALL YOU MEANIES SHUT YOUR STUPID FACES!?!! don't lie.

So it can't be that. Since the people at PB couldn't possibly have lied, what is going on? Can't you use your special bond to get an answer from them that isn't pure bullshit? What good is all that ass kissing if you don't even get anything out of it?

    30. Merijeek on May 16, 2014

Jorel, they ever answer the questions that they were going to get back to us on? Nope. STFU, peasant.

    31. Jorel Levenson on May 16, 2014

They have never said STFU Peasant, that is just how you touchy lot want to take everything.

ABS is more flexible than HIPS (high impact polystyrene) and in some ways "stronger" in that it won't snap when HIPS will, but HIPS is far more "sturdy" under normal conditions and can recover from stresses that will begin to deform ABS. Think aluminium and steel, something made out of aluminium will bend more before it breaks catastrophically than steel will, but the bending process may destroy the function of the aluminium part long before it breaks.

Jorel, the basic responses are: rainbows with no evidence, STFU peasant since we know better, silence and forgive us because we are new.

The last is damning since there is internet and phones, but given the course of this project ALL evidence points to the fact that I know more people in the gaming industry than everyone at Palladium. Otherwise, some phone calls and emails taking a couple of hours of all this time Palladium claims has been spent on the KS (and probably billing our fund for) would have avoided the vast majority of these issues.

My second part was referring to RRT not starting and hitting mother nature type snags

    34. Jorel Levenson on May 16, 2014

also be glad we haven't been hit with news like this...
      https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/554355176/games-and-gears-battle-boards/posts/846103
I'm in on this and am starting to actually worry if they haven't begun production yet...they could still have delays like this. I'm not freaking out concerned. But I am concerned.

    35. Jorel Levenson on May 16, 2014

@Ricks News, you can fill in whatever you want to account for that silence and anything that isn't directly from them is a guess and speculation and a waste of time. I could just as easily say their silence means they already know we are all happy with this so they feel no need to comment. I'm not stupid enough to actually attribute such a statement like that to them, but technically I could. I think it would be as stupid as assuming their lack of commentary means "STFU Peasant!" You guys look like mery jerks when you keep posting that crap.

    36. There is no Wave 2 ! ! ! on May 16, 2014

Jorel but their Silence can also be construed as that, like I said their major problem has been communication.

    37. Jorel Levenson on May 16, 2014

Don't be such an ass Meri, they simply don't respond, which is a far cry from what you are implying.

    38. Merijeek on May 16, 2014

Michael, very good question. The answer to, from the number of times it's been asked and ignored, is "STFU PEASANT!"

Can we see pictures of the models put together if you are receiving (received) the sprues? Or is Palladium approving these for production without actually putting them together?

    42. There is no Wave 2 ! ! ! on May 16, 2014

@Khyron yes if you use Regular Modeling glue on some of those thin parts they will create holes thru the material.

    43. There is no Wave 2 ! ! ! on May 16, 2014

ugh wish we had edit, anywhoo:

Robotech minis = ABS - Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene
GW minis = HIPS - High Impact Polystyrene

    44. Khyron's Eye on May 16, 2014

Plus the fact that some of these things are almost transparent would seem to do worse than pit and scar.

    45. There is no Wave 2 ! ! ! on May 16, 2014

Also while GW minis are made of a styrene material it is not ABS Styrene but close proximity, if you touch a GW mini and a LEGO mini you can tell the difference in materials.
