Robotech® RPG Tactics™ is a fast paced strategy battle game that expands on the popular Palladium role playing game.
5,342 backers pledged $1,442,312 to help bring this project to life.

A terrible day

Posted by Palladium Books (Creator)

In recent weeks, game designer Carmen Bellaire began talking online about the Rifts® board game he has been developing under license. His planned upcoming Kickstarter will launch it and his own company.

On Friday morning he came here, to the RRT Kickstarter comments pages, and made what he had intended to be a post to drum up support from backers of our Robotech® RPG Tactics™ Kickstarter project. It didn’t go well, to say the least.

Carmen’s awkward words might have seemed out of context and harsh. They were fueled by comments and accusations people had been directing at him here and elsewhere for a while now. Somehow, he thought he was helping by coming here to speak to people directly.

I don’t know why Carmen Bellaire said what he said, in the way that he did. I know he has been pushing himself much too hard, and was emotionally drained and physically exhausted when he made those posts. That might explain some of it. He can also be the proverbial bull in the china shop, and has a bad habit of not choosing his words carefully. A lot of his comments and observations about Robotech® RPG Tactics and Palladium Books were from an outsider’s perspective, and often incorrect or not clearly presented. Carmen’s viewpoint, like many of yours, is that of a concerned outsider looking in.

He had not been around Palladium Books much the past 3-4 years, because he was busy creating games for his own fledgling company, Rogue Heroes LLC, which he has hopes to launch in spectacular fashion with the Rifts® Board Game as his first release. This would be done via a Kickstarter campaign in April, 2017. In addition to this endeavor, Carmen works a full-time, 9-5 job, as well as doing freelance game design for Upper Deck. A lot of work for Upper Deck. It is my understanding that the many games he has designed for that company have yet to see release, but they have been keeping him busy and several are in the pipeline for release. Doing board games right takes time. I’ve learned that the hard way. Carmen is also doing work for at least two other game companies under a veil of secrecy. He cannot speak about them or identify the companies due to NDAs and the wishes of those companies. I’m not even sure if I’m supposed to mention Upper Deck. I have been doing so rather shamelessly, because I’m very proud of my friend Carmen, and I figured the folks at Upper Deck will be okay with it coming from me.

Carmen is a passionate person who feels things deeply. He has a heart of gold and a truly brilliant mind for games. The launch of Rogue Heroes LLC and the Rifts® Board Game is the culmination of his lifelong dream and a five or six year journey to make that dream a reality. He has made a lot of sacrifices, invested a lot of money, and worked his tail off to get here. He was excited beyond measure as he prepared to launch his Kickstarter for the game. And if it panned out, he had big plans for the future.

Carmen and I have not talked about him “fixing” Wave Two, as he put it. We at Palladium, and many others, believe the RRT rules are solid. That while they could use some clarification, expansion and tweaking, they are really quite excellent and damn fun to play. What Carmen and I have talked about is Carmen’s hope and dream that if the Rifts® Board Game Kickstarter is a big success, he can quit his 9-5 job and dedicate himself exclusively to creating games. It is a lifelong dream I have heard about since the first day I met Carmen 12, 15 years ago. A dream he saw finally becoming a reality. A dream he has put his heart and soul into making come true. So no, Rogue Heroes, LLC is not a front or shell company for Palladium Books, as some have suggested; it is 100% Carmen Bellaire.

His terrible opening post and further discussion about Robotech® RPG Tactics™ and Wave Two on the RRT Kickstarter board was fueled by his passion and hopes. If the Rifts® board game was a big success, and he really could quit his 9-5 job, he planned to help Palladium get RRT back on track, doing whatever he could to help. Carmen has all kinds of ideas for advanced RRT rules, new factions and new waves of product that we would love to see happen. But for the moment, he was still buried with other work commitments and needed to stay focused on the Rifts® board game and its Kickstarter.

What Carmen was trying to say and why

Carmen didn’t intend to challenge, threaten or blackmail anyone for support of his impending Rifts® board game Kickstarter. He was, in his own lame and awkward way, trying to say that his success with it would be good for the future of RRT, because he could be more involved and hopefully help make things happen faster in the future. He was trying to say, please don’t undermine his Rifts® Board Game Kickstarter, because his success would actually help RRT in the long run.

I know this is what he meant, because he called me Friday, early afternoon, very upset by the reaction of some people on the RRT boards. He apologized to me over and over again for upsetting people and fueling the vitriol when all he was trying to do was help. Help me. Help his upcoming Kickstarter. Help the fans. Help his family. Help everyone. And doing it by creating a fun Rifts® board game to be followed by many other games from his company, not just based on Palladium’s I.P., but many of his own brilliant ideas.

I understand why people are upset about RRT. What I cannot understand is the absolute hate and bloodlust of some, to destroy us, when we are trying to deliver the game they backed. Even more puzzling is attacking and destroying anyone who is affiliated with Palladium even in the slightest way, and shouting down and condemning others who don’t agree with their point of view.

What you need to know

Carmen Bellaire has put his heart and soul, and every dime he has, into the creation of HIS company, Rogue Heroes LLC, and HIS Rifts® board game. I say “his” Rifts® game because while it is Palladium’s I.P., it is ALL Carmen’s genius, money and blood, sweat and tears.

Vicious words of hate shocked and overwhelmed him.

Twisting the truth and twisting his, admittedly poorly chosen words, cut him to pieces. Carmen was never an employee of Palladium. He was a freelancer who worked off site, like all of our freelancers. He submitted the occasional book or contribution to a product like RRT. Carmen has never deliberately held back from making RRT great. Carmen was not trying to blackmail you to support his game. All he wanted to do was help, and he saw the Rift® board game as his way to start doing that. He wanted you to understand this. That your support for his Kickstarter – or at least not trying to undermine it – would enable him to help you and RRT, because he would finally have the time to devote to it, if he could quit his day job. He even shared his dream of being able to do a lot more work on RRT, Wave Two and future RRT releases, among other things. Carmen had a lot of big dreams and good intentions.

Crushed and shell-shocked by your heated words and promises to do everything in your power to ruin his Kickstarter, Carmen’s dreams were shattered. And why? Because he was friends with Kevin Siembieda and had done freelance work for Palladium Books off and on over the years.

He took your words to heart. Carmen believed you hated him. Believed you would work to destroy everything he had spent years building for himself, his family and for you.

In a telephone call on Friday, he had told me he had never experienced this kind of hate and venom. He was clearly reeling from it. He said it was beyond anything he could imagine. He apologized, saying that all he wanted to do was help. Instead he had ruined everything.

A short time later, at 2:07 PM, Friday afternoon, Carmen emailed me to say how much I have meant to him. That he was sorry he ruined everything by posting on the RRT board and stirring up unfathomable hate. He felt there was no way to undo the damage he had done. That he had ruined any chance for a successful Rifts board game Kickstarter and the launch of his company. That he had let his family down and every single person who was working so hard to make the Rifts board game and his company a reality. “I can’t take it, man ... I am so so so sorry. Good bye.”

Carmen tried to kill himself moments later.

It is only by the grace of God that his wife, a nurse, entered the room in time, that Carmen is alive. He is in the hospital, but in a bad way. He is a mess. The fate of the board game, his company, his dreams ... and most importantly, his life, are unknown. His family and all of us who know and love him are still in shock and praying to God that he will be okay.

Words can kill

On Friday, words on this board – cruel, vicious, condemning words – successfully crushed a man’s hopes and dreams and sent him spiraling into despair. Those words pushed him to the point of trying to take his own life. I would hate to think anyone may take pride in that.

I’m posting this, with the permission of Carmen’s family, because you need to know that words of hate, spite, cruelty and intolerance, pushed a good man – a husband – a father – a friend – to attempt suicide on Friday. A simple gaming geek like every one of us, Carmen worked hard to support his family, found joy in gaming, and dared to pour his heart into making his dream come true for the betterment of everyone.

Please realize that your words and tone may hurt another person as much as a bullet to the heart. Please, try to stop and think about what you say. Remember that human beings are fragile creatures. Try to find compassion and support for others, not tear them down. Try not to assume the worst or cast your assumptions and accusations against someone who does not deserve them. Not everyone is a bad guy. Not everyone is an enemy to be hated, attacked and ridiculed. Words matter. Lives matter. Kindness and tolerance matter. Perhaps more than ever before.

A friend asked me if Carmen will be okay. We don’t know. Carmen will be in the hospital for a while. We don’t know for how long. We don’t know if he will ever be the same. We don’t know whether he’ll return to game design and try to launch his company or the Rifts® board game in which he has invested everything. If not, that’s a tragedy of another sort, because Carmen has so much to offer. Before his suicide attempt, Carmen regarded game design as pure joy and tackled it with a childlike sense of wonder. All he wanted to do was to make games. After this, I don’t know.

I’m afraid this is not my most eloquent post. I am still shaken. I’m scared for him. Terrified. And saddened beyond words.

Please pray for Carmen’s swift recovery, emotionally and physically, and that Carmen is able to find the strength to once again follow his dreams and dare to try to make them come true. I want that not just for Carmen, but because he has a treasure trove of wonderful games locked in his imagination waiting to come out. Games that will bring joy and laughter to all of us.

I hope and pray there is a happy ending coming. Our love to Carmen and his family.

I personally appreciate that kickstarter DOES NOT give creators the ability to prune their own comment sections. The only way these comments could derail the project was if Kevin actually read them. Hint: He and anyone affiliated with Palladium do not. I doubt Kevin even bothered to read the actual exchange honestly.

    3. Simon6825 on

Not sure what this bloody stupid email has to do with Robotech RPG, stop sending out shit like this please. Just keep it to Robotech RPG and Robotech RPG.
By the way when is the delivery date for Wave 2?

    4. Jeff N

Very sad to hear this. And also VERY sad to see some of the unkind comments here on KS. This is a place to be constructive and to cheer on project creators. Sometimes I am embarrassed to be a part of this ecosystem...

Please get well Carmen. And please keep thinking positively Kevin. Know that a large majority of the people that back these projects are NOT represented by the small portion who post vitriolic comments in these threads.

Some projects don't succeed, despite the best efforts of even the most devoted creators. As KS backers, everyone should go in knowing this. And I still think Kevin has a chance to succeed with RRT. He clearly cares very deeply about this material, his wider catalog of IP and those other creators he works with. Exactly what every hobbyist would hope for in a steward of gaming systems they care about.

I just don't understand this position of entitlement and lack of common decency that I see in some of these comments. No amount of money anyone has pledged to this or any other campaign should make a backer think they have a right to act this way.

I really hope the KS platform gains an ability for us to self-moderate these comments soon, so the 90% of us who are decent human beings can bury the other 10% who troll these threads and post negative comments that neither respectful nor considerate and are doing more to derail projects than help them to move forward.

this link is to what carmen started off with. to all the backers jumping on the you all are a>>>oles wagon go do some reading first before judging the rest of us.

to carmen dude please get help and get better

to kevin, just end this bs and start passing out the refunds. you're never going to finish this project and your latest edition of it's not my fault is just that you crying how nothing can be your fault. maybe if you actually read the exchange before blaming backers you'd be begging carmen to seek help before things got to this because the dude is under unreal stress, a real job, trying to start his on company and kissing your ass is way too much for anyone.

I think this kickstarter has hit a new low and it's clear from Kevin's latest psychotic screed he can continue to find even lower rungs to step down on. And even more amazing still find support from his sycophantic enablers. I guess they only read his bold type and didn't even bother to go read the actual exchanges in question, simply allowing him to redefine the narrative for them. I really do feel sorry for Carmen for being his latest victim and wish him the best. I think it is high time Kickstarter ended this fiasco.

    9. Glen Maddock on

I'm sorry that someone attempted self harm. Though that said what about potential people who are backers of this that have attempted or worse succeeded in self harm, it is quite probable that we have more than one person who has attempted self harm, also more than one person may have died waiting for fulfillment of this KS .

That said it's sad that this is not an update about wave 2 it's sad that there is no info about wave 2 it's sad that I believe there will be no wave 2. Does this mean I will go and commit self harm and blame Kevin for it. "No" , But I will never trust any product from Palladium or a Palladium sponsored or partnered Product. I will also be very vocal about not supporting any said palladium product and why, I attend multiple conventions in Australia and will quite happily voice my unhappiness over palladium products and potential crowd funding proposals.

      The End.

    10. TwoGunBob on

I think Kevin will be sued for misappropriation of funds LONG before anyone sues backers here for reacting to Carmen's internet extortion attempt to silence backers from commenting about how Palladium doesn't fulfill its obligations. No comments were deleted, kickstarter doesn't work like say... Palladium forums where they delete everything they don't like. If anyone should be sued it should be Palladium by the Bellaire family for torpedoing Carmen's career in public.

I would hope that everyone wishes Carmen a full and speedy recovery. I also hope everyone continues to try to hold Palladium accountable for squandering 1.4 million dollars of our money on this poorly managed wreck of a Kickstarter. The two are not mutually exclusive.

First off, I wish Carmen a speedy recovery. Secondly, to Kevin Siembieda, if you really want to help Carmen, you'd refund him the money he paid for the Rifts board game license. It's simply not going to be happening right now. The Palladium brand is too tarnished for this to be successful and it is just not the right time.

I know it will be difficult, but when Carmen recovers, he should drop the project, cut his losses and find another way to make a living. The current RRT kickstarter needs to be seen through before any other Palladium related kickstarter can happen.

I just cannot believe the people here. You justify that it is OK to be complaining about a post because, likely, the most offending of the responses to Carmen's post were deleted(let's face, if the hate and vitriol seen here on just about any post were what was directed at him, I would hope most of those responses were deleted.) and so the responses you see don't look too bad. Is this how we represent ourselves to people?

Face it, when Palladium DOES post actually information here, they get hit with hate and vitriol. When they post work in progress on the miniatures, they get told how horrible they are. When they tell what the latest delay was, they get called liars and charlatans at best. How many of you people have actually spoken to Carmen in person, or Kevin? I got to play a RTT demo done by Carmen a couple GenCons ago, and the man made an immediate impression on me. I see the original post not as blackmail or extortion, but as a statement of "Look, I am not Palladium, and you had already tried to be jerks to another kickstarter by an independant company..please don't do that to me, and here is why you shouldn't." It was not diplomatically worded, but...

I am hoping that Carmen has a speedy recovery, and can find the passion to make games again. I hope his plan for the Rifts Boardgame comes as he had wanted it to, and he can move on from this as a growing experience.

However, this should also be a wake-up call for everyone here. Stop the hate, stop the vitriol, stop the threats.

No bearing as to the status on the KS, and to me, feels like I've been blindsided for something I didn't do?

Reading the previous comments, I think its pretty disgusting posting this update.
Of course, I wish Carmen a full recovery, as well as his future endeavours

Kevin, why is it so difficult to tell us when to expect our KS rewards for pledging to you? Delays, understandable. 3 years+? Difficult to swallow but sure, shit happens.
No information, or even worse, misinformation? Unacceptable and is in a direct breach of KS conditions and guidelines.

@Kevin Siembieda - This was a pathetic use of a man's mental issues to shield yourself as president of Palladium Books from your kickstarter campaign obligations. As president of the company who created this kickstarter you are obligated to fufill your promise of product that you have received funding for. If the delivery of the promises cannot be kept, please tell us so that we can take take the appropriate measures for the actions of your company.

@Paul Brown - I agree. A class-action lawsuit may be in the future for Palladium Books as a result of this debacle of a kickstarter campaign and betrayal of loyal Robotech fans who have together pledged well over 1 million dollars to see this game come to life.

First, I'd like to wish him all the best for his mental and physical well being. WIth that said...
Wow, just wow. So I just reviewed the literally and only dozens of comments directed at Carmen. This is the TL;DR through most of them: Impressed Carmen had the courage to post, but went about this all wrong, and yeah we can't support the Rifts board game.
This is tame, by this board's standards, let alone the wider internet community.
That's it. And Kevin has the gall to blame the KS RTT backers for his attempt to take his life? Seriously?
This is what I suspect ACTUALLY happened: He knew his KS was screwed and would be DoA. The writing's on the wall. His depression has been building for quite a while after handing over that check to Kevin for the Rifts IP rights. With his post and the subsequent comments, the reality of the situation that he was dreading was confirmed.
Kevin, it's your fault the KS hasn't been fulfilled. It's your fault Palladium's name is mud. It's your fault a vocal community of former fans will now decry any work you do. It's your fault Carmen's KS really would have had no chance of success.
You took his money knowing all of this. What's the logical progression of blame?

    20. Kenny Lull on

I rarely read these updates anymore so by chance happened to read this one. Honestly, I wrote this off years ago, accepted one of my favorite IPs just wasn't going to happen. Not really sure of the context of this whole debacle and comments or whatever happened. Sure, it'd be great to have this game become a thing again but, dude...maybe it's just time to throw in the towel. This seems to have gotten way way the fuck out of control. Perhaps it's best for everyone involved--directly or indirectly--to just shut 'er down. Get well.

    21. Bob on

I'm at a loss of words. I'm sure I'll gather my thoughts and feelings better in the days to come, but for now I have a couple thoughts.
First, I hope and pray Carmen makes a full recovery and gets the help he needs.
Second, Kevin, this is a disgusting and despicable response to your "friend's" attempted suicide. To immediately launch into blaming, shaming and guilting others while simultaneously bad mouthing your "dear friend"? I couldn't believe what I was reading. I honestly can't comprehend what you were attempting to do with this update, but it most certainly isn't anything resembling helpful. There is something foul with your relationship with Carmen and you very much seem to be projecting. You need to reevaluate some things, Kevin. I'm not sure how else to put it.

    22. Jay D. on

I'll be honest. I'm not sure if I should even be posting here right now. But, like many others. I wish Carmen a healthy recovery. If anything positive other than a full recovery of Carmen were to come from this, it should be that this ends RRT. In the sense that things have reached a whole new level here. It is time for PB to do the right thing. Pay Carmen's medical expenses, give him back every dime he paid for the Rifts IP, stop with all the lies and start issuing refunds. If Kevin has any sense of friendship, morals or heart, it's time to end the cheraide. File bankruptcy if you have to. Close the doors and start issuing refunds. This is beyond just a game anymore. You failed as a company and you failed as a friend to look out for Carmen. You took his money and ours, squandered it and purposely threw him to the wolves. It is time to do the right thing, apologize and issue refunds. Or are you going to take a chance on everything that has already happened and possibly lose more than you already have?

    23. Stagnant Life on

      @Steven Smiley

You said "Kevin has been very clear in the newsletters about what's going on with RRT. If you don't like it that's fine."

Any updates to this project are to be made on the Kickstarter page as it is laid out in the Terms of Service that PB agreed to upon launching the project. I don't get any weekly updates because I have no interest in any other PB products.

This is not a matter of "not liking(sic) it." This is a matter of PB constantly breaching the TOS and getting away with it on top of white knights like you being apologists for them. Think about if this was a contractor remodeling your bathroom. Would you not have already fired them, demanded a refund, and been sure to spread by social media and word of mouth how horrible they were?

    24. digdoug on

@Stephen Smiley, You want to see what I expect from an update? Go check out Giga-Robo's latest update at

They started with an acknowledgement of the recent silence on KS. Explained that silence. Then they provided some progress in renders of the last two robots for it and asked in advance if they could sell at Gen Con if it was ready. Then had a little bad news with having to rollback the last stretch goal due to giving refunds, but they had funding to do a couple of other rewards (that were previously social media awards). Did a little convention promotion and talked about painted minis (one of the pledge levels included pre-painted minis). Then surprise more progress with a sample of card art and video from someone who used similar styles. Finally another acknowledgement of the previous silence and a promise to do better.

If Kevin had been doing this, there would be a lot less vitriol around here.

      PS Ascalon Alpha looks badass.

@Steven Simily "Kevin has been very clear in the newsletters about what's going on with RRT."

Really? Then pray tell oh enlightened one, how many models have been prototyped, had 3d renders done, had the 3d files converted to manufacturing files? For that matter, who is the manufacturer? How many pieces are those models, when will they be manufactured, when will they be delivered, how will they be delivered, what took so long? How much money is left, is it sufficient to fund wave 2?

Providing the answers to those questions would be clear about whats going on.

"THIS IS THE YEAR FOR RTT!!!! Delivery in 2015, err.. 2016, opps, 2017, ohh, gosh, its not even February and it looks like 2017 might not happen" is the exact OPPOSITE of clear.

We are angry and frustrated because of the never ending LIES from Palladium. Kevin has lied so much and so often some backers aren't convinced the suicide attempt actually happen. Given the source it could very well be a nick from shaving that Kevin is blowing out of proportion to make us all feel sorry for Carmen.

Quite frankly I'm of the belief that if kevin actually had to tell the truth the sheer shock of doing so would cause him to stroke out on the spot.

    26. Stephen Schneider on

Actually never mind. Just finished reading the entire post... sad. Not sure I want to know anymore. Just talked to Carmen on FB on thursday. We had a disagreement about a character in his game. I wanted it not to front any religious style by swapping out the cross for a fantasy faction symbol. He disagreed, said the cross stays and that's that. Oh well. He seemed to be firm on what he thought a game should be and was resistant to outside ideas, but, never wished anything bad would happen to him. We think of teenage girls killing themselves because of things on the internet, but we have to remember that for many, the internet is no different than saying it to their face. We have to be sensitive to that. For many people the screen is real, and our words can hurt them, directly. All this over few models, a silly game, and a few hundred bucks. I think we'd all would have just given someone money and best wishes if they needed therapy or a kidney, but since this was a business and people got burned, the KS turned into a place where people could vent their frustrations rather than spread any hope. One wonders if anyone else who visited here may have wanted to hurt themselves over our little hobby. Honestly, now, I don't really care if they ever send me anything. This has already, almost killed someone. If they make the rest fine. If they don't who cares. But let's remember that these aren't bots on the other end of these comments and updates, they are people, who can feel pain. Complaining is one thing, but hatred should never be tolerated.

I don't condone any personal attacks, but when you take people's money upfront and fail to deliver people are going to get angry. And when the company or designers decide that they're going to launch a second kickstarter before they've fulfilled the obligations of the first people are going to get especially angry.

No one forced anyone to take 1.4 Million dollars of backer money. This is a venture you entered in by choice, so take responsibility. If this Carmen individual was in such a state of mind as to go down this road, perhaps launching a new kickstarter with all the stress it brings with it is not exactly wise?

People being angry with RTT, kickstarters causing stress, this is not new and are all avoidable situations if PG treated its backers with respect and fulfilled its obligations. Failing that just say you're never going to launch Wave 2 so the probable class-action lawsuit can commence. But launching another kickstarter? Get out of here.

Is there a way to know which hospital Carmen is at to know where to send flowers, get well cards, and gaming accessories (I.e. Miniatures, dice, artwork) to? I am also very saddened by your tone in your post blaming your backers for this mans metal short comings. I'm sure he was under a lot of stress and had a lot of money invested in his company trust me I know the feeling. You start to go down that path of if I don't make it then I will be on the streets. But how dare you blame us for this man coming in to a war zone and that's what this project is a war zone. And in his own words saying you can leave me and my Kickstarter alone and I can help get Wave two done or you can attack my Kickstarter and I can do nothing to help. If you read his post you can see the stress he is under. Now I know some people might have given him shit but most of us don't care that another company was making a rift product, I might have even backed the board game if it looked good and if he comes back strong and ready to work on his company again I would gladly back a good board game. But never ever try and blame the people here for lashing out after being attacked by another company who's product has nothing to do with this kick starter. I hope this man gets better soon and I hope his company makes it.

Now on to some more news I'm sure kevin has already contacted Kickstarter stating what has happened and is blaming us for lose of revenue and is Going to try and use this to get out of Wave two, mark my words this was the death of Wave two right here in this spot from Kevin.

I can't say I've cared about this KS enough to post here, but this blatant advertisement followed up afterwards by trying to skew what actually happened in your favor... (Thank you Forar for linking it so I could come to my own decisions) has me feeling like going on a crusade.

Why does this make you seem like a lying scoundrel using Carmen to help your company?

Do you think mistruth helps you?

You're foolish, it just creates your enemies.

I just can't believe so many backers being so poisonous and trying to shift blame for their own terrible attitude over onto Kevin and Palladium. Carmen asked you not to let the poison you've collected here spill over to his KS and instead you act like this. Kevin has been very clear in the newsletters about what's going on with RRT. If you don't like it that's fine. It's no excuse for this though.

@Ronald Ledwon: The likes could also be that this post by Kevin has ensured that when Carmen or his family come after Kevin and Paladium for the damage he has now done to Carmen's future professional endeavors they will be able show irreparable damage and get a big payday out of it.

@Ronald: it's probably/hopefully intended as a sign of support. I wouldn't think too much about it. Facebook has long driven users to 'like' many things, even awful things, as a supportive sign. Some might be ironic, some might be heartfelt, it's best not to sweat that little number. Hell, some probably liked it because they knew it'd annoy other people.

That said, "Don't give the prick the satisfaction" is pretty good. Awful and tragic as this situation has become recently, it has led some to share their own battles, and I thank you for doing so. We all battle our demons in the privacy of our own heads, which is also often lonely and dark.

I HAVE MAJOR RANT RIGHT NOW! WHY IS THERE 66 LIKE ON THIS UPDATE! This sad what happen Carmen I'am NOT happy or would I put like on this update. WHAT THE HELL IS WITH LIKES are you people crazy. OK NOW DONE p.s. Carmen I hope you make it . I to came close to killing my self long long time ago a voice in head told me " Don't give the prick the satisfaction"

How about the real possibility that some of the 5342 backers may have died between the time this project was "funded" to now? How should we feel about that" How should KS respond it?

@Matthew Kevin and Carmen live in an echo chamber where only fan friends and true believers are allowed to be heard so I imagine the reality of how people feel towards them because of RTT came as quite a shock to the both of them.

The possible loss of a life is never a good thing, but its a bit rich to claim that the comments on here were the cause for him to attempt to take his life, as who can truly know what was going through his mind, it might have been another factor that triggered him to attempt it. As someone commented as well, why come in and kick the hornets nest, and expect it to go well.
Blame should rest squarely on PB and KS, if it was fulfilled in a timely manner the game and community would have a more positive vibe or if he just admitted they stuffed it up and that they were trying to get a plan in place and have open and honest communication then things would be different.

Also he should have not made any comment about his KS in this one at all and let it run on its own merits.

    44. Mike Barnstorf on

I cannot be in the interest of Carmen Bellaire, that his health situation is made public.
This is not some dumb NDA, this is a very seriuos matter.

      Hope you will recover soon.

    45. Matthew S. Tomczak on

First and foremost I want to express my sincere wishes to Carmen and to his family in the hopes of a speedy recovery...

With that said Mr. Siembieda, you should not have addressed this in the manner you chose. Regardless of the permission of Mr. Belleaire's family, this does not change the underlying issues that the Robotech Tactics KS has been mired in for so long. Another KS, for a different Palladium IP, will NOT solve the underlying mismanagement and poor planning that has prevented backers of this KS from receiving their product.

We have sat through multiple promises that Wave 2 is in-bound, that we will receive our product with no indication of what we were receiving or when we would be receiving it. There has been no communication of substance. Just a lot of empty promises while newsletters from Palladium remarks 'no news at this time' or 'we promise great things coming in 2017 for Robotech Tactics: Wave 2.

Does is surprise you that collectively we're upset, disillusioned, and bitter? Does it surprise you that we collectively would rather not be led about on broken promises and spend our funds on other projects with better communication and better track records?

There is enough blame going around to walk from here to the moon. However the name on the box is Palladium, not Ninja Division or Harmony Gold. Enough finger pointing. Step up, own the mistake and own fixing it. Stop finding blame elsewhere when the blame rests solely on the shoulders of your company.

I still remember what absolute confidence I had when I backed this KS, because I thought of Palladium Books as the RPG company that wrote the amazing books I grew up with. Now all I can of is that Palladium Books orchestrated the most amazing train wreck I've been a part of, and now I can add that it actual drove a man to take his own life. That's quite a story, but not somewhere I would likely put my money again.

    47. Brett on

@TINW2. I'd rather the post stick around. Removing the evidence of someone's foul action does no good. Maybe they will see it every once in a while and feel shame or regret. I doubt it, but maybe.

    48. Brett on

@Forar, Oh, I know that there was probably a better way to present myself and there are other courses of action. The lack of value that some people have for human life just set me off a bit.

@Brett: I'm not saying you're thin skinned, or that you aren't allowed to vent.

I'm saying that there is a more productive manner of handling things, should you want it.

If you don't want to report people, cool. It wasn't just aimed at you, that was information for the handful of people who have shared similar sentiments here.
