Have a question?
I am Carmen Bellaire, I have started my own gaming company called Rogue Heroes, and as most of you know I will be doing a Kickstarter for a board game based on the Rifts IP.
So first off, I am a backer of this project too just like you, and I’m in the same boat as all of you. I know that some of you are pissed off at Palladium Books over the MASSIVE delay of Wave 2 of this project. I am disgruntled about it too. It is something of a sore spot between me and Kevin from PB. I too wish he would finish Wave 2 or resolve the matter in some way. Unfortunately, I have NO control over his business or Palladium’s conduct of in regard to this Kickstarter project. Kevin is a friend of mine, the way any one-time co-worker is. I once wrote for him and helped with the RRT rules, but my professional involvement with this project ended there. I have NO influence over this Kickstarter currently. So why am I posting here and now?
Well, you guessed it – I am going to release my Kickstarter soon (a few months) and wanted to state my opinion on things here for all the disgruntled RRT backers before I do.
So why me and Rogue Heroes for the Rifts: Board Game. A few years ago when things were going good and Wave 1 was just releasing Kevin was thinking about doing a Rifts board game and was looking to either do it himself or sell the IP rights to someone who could. Ninja Division either didn’t want to do it or was not asked, I really do not know. But in talk with me about finding the misprints in the rulebook for RRT Kevin let it slip that the IP rights for the Rifts: Board Game were available. I had just sold my first board game to another company for a big chunk of money and asked my wife if she would let me risk it on getting the IP rights for the Rifts miniatures and board games. She said yes.
So I gather a group of guys I know and get to work on it. Time goes on I make more money on other board games for various people and learn a ton about the industry. We continue to slowly get sculpts and art done, with me paying for everything as I go and I start to hear problems in the RRT KS. I don’t know much at first but watch as things get steadily worse (in my opinion). I don’t know why it is happening and hear from Kevin that it will all be fixed soon. More time goes by………………a lot of time and it's now. I have a nearly completed board game and have paid an amount that outstrips and individual backer on this KS project and most groups of backers too! And I see what a cluster-F things have become.
While I do still have faith in Kevin to make things right in the end, I don’t know how long that will take. In the meantime, I have to get my Kickstarter going if I am going to meet my contractual obligations to Palladium Books and try to make back at least some of the money my wife let me invest in the Rifts: Board Game. So that leaves me hear talking to you all.
While it is true I don’t want a hoard of mad RRT backers slamming my Kickstarter out for blood, I know that Kickstarter itself will regulate that. It did on the Savage Rifts Kickstarter which I also backed. I want to be on your side. I would love to pull a white knight and fix all the things going wrong with this KS, but first I have to get my Kickstarter started and funded to prove to Palladium that Rogue Heroes can do get our own project done. As they say money talks and bullshit walks.
My hope for the future would be to take over the miniature and board game rights to all Palladium Books, including Robotech (and in this case Harmony Gold through PB), and do them right! Not to throw stones but the Ninja Division chose the wrong manufacturer for the RRT, they forgot to charge shipping on the Kickstarter and made some other errors (in my opinion), while they meant good, mistakes were made. These were then compounded by Palladium and amplified to the point we are at today.
So where does that leave us, Rogue Heroes and the RRT backers I mean? Well, YOU as the other RRT backers have two choices. Either you can do everything in your power to try and kill the Rifts: Board Game OR you can allow me the chance to complete my Kickstarter in peace.
If you take option one, I will take all steps to prevent it, but calmly and by the rules. But I probably won’t ask for you to be banned unless you get too out of hand. But I believe you would be fighting an uphill battle anyway since all of Palladium loyal Rifts fans and many of the new Savage Rifts players REALLY want me to succeed. After all, Rifts hasn’t ever had really good miniatures, it had the old metal ones, but not the awesome figures we will be producing. And if you chose this route I will write you off, when Kevin asked me to help, as happened in the past on Wave 1, I will simply step away and let it burn. I am under no obligations to help with the RRT but I DO have the contacts and knowledge to help fix it.
Or you can take option two. I don’t ask anything from you, I don’t ask you to help or support me, or give me money or do anything at all. All I ask is please be decent individuals and give me room to succeed or fail on my own. And let those Rifts fans support me as they please. If you do this, basically do nothing, I will be all in for you. Even if my KS crashes and burns I will put my efforts into getting this shit straightened out!
While I cannot divert KS funds from a Rifts KS to the Robotech KS, or get anyone a refund. There is a lot I can do that will get things moving along again. I can help Palladium get the RIGHT manufacturer for Robotech and give them the advice and knowledge they are missing.
I have answered repeated questions on the Palladium forums about my project, including coming close to breaching my contract and NDA to be as honest and open as I can be. I want to show you that Rogue Heroes is different and that I can try and make a difference here. Which is also why I am posting here and will listen to the torrent of crap that will surely come of it.
After all, who else is helping? Contacting the FTC, or the Michigan Attorney General, or the Michigan BBB, or anyone else – who cares? According to Kickstarter they (PB) are doing their due diligence in working toward the goal of completing the project, as far as the law goes he has done nothing wrong (in my opinion, if I am wrong, invest in a lawyer). After all, it does say in the Kickstarter guidelines that the estimated delivery times are just that estimated, a project creator can take as much time as they require to complete the project as long as they work on it.
But in the end, it’s all up to you. Collectively you all have the opportunity to TRY and do some damage. Of course, you will be damaging Rogue Heroes, not Palladium, but it might make you feel better. Maybe? Remember, I already have the Rifts IP rights, Palladium got their money from me. Sure they will make some more money from my Kickstarter, but only AFTER I fulfill my rewards to ALL my backers! And you might blunt that a bit, but you will not be able to stop my Kickstarter. After all, my Kickstarter has nothing to do with Palladium and the folks at Kickstarter know it. As far as Kickstarter goes it’s no different that the Savage Rifts KS and that funded without a hitch.
I just felt that it was time that someone actually told you the lay of the land. Kickstarter is great, it’s F-ing awesome, but when things go wrong everyone needs to work together. It like all those with the loudest voice here thought they bought a product off a shelf, not backed a project. Things go wrong in all creative endeavors, then the creator gets things working again, or not. That's it.
Yea, I don’t want to battle with the RRT backers in order to complete my own KS, I am one of you after all. And you can call me a shill for Palladium if you want, call me a liar, call me whatever you want, but my Kickstarter will succeed. And when it does, do you want my next project to be straightening out the problems here. Or not? You decide.
Thanks for your time and attention

The weekly non-update sales pitch is up on Palladium! And it basically says nothing newsworthy about RRT.
"We are working on some exciting new possibilities." No you're not, you've said that or something to that effect for years now. This doesn't take years to do, I can say with 100% confidence that you are not working on this and Wave 2 is not going to see the light of day. Why would you do Wave2? There's no appreciable market, you'd just be throwing good money after bad. You made a huge mistake and its time to own up to it.
Not that I'm trying to support it but Carmen did say in the thread on Palladium that the minis will be multi-part but come pre-assembled. So at least that part is being done right.
I'm fairly certain a $1 is allowed regardless of what is put on the backers options. Not that mine will stay long enough to matter.
Evidently Carmen is not allowing the $1 backer level according to his comments on the poll thread he's started:
Did the people who got banned from here get a refund? Seems like it would only be fair.
So I remember pledging for this around the time my girls were born.
They just celebrated their 4th birthday.
"Someone is reading the posts here - who else requested the banning of a few more vocal backers here"
The chief taste tester, I am sure.
No, still here
Not directly RTT but I was interested in the latest update I got for the Ogre Miniatures KS (Steve Jackson). The minis will be 1/285 like RTT but nothing like the complexity- most are one to three pieces - but the update apologises for delays in stated manufacture times. They have the trial sprue layouts and no are waiting on the first test moulds to be produced, but they are looking at September for production now - hemce the apology.
Now if this is the case and we already know that the RTT models are far more complex - leaving aside the Monsterwhich is another thing again - it would seem to be prrof positive tha Palladium are going to struggle to get close to their 2017 promise. At best they might get a few pieces ready for Xmas, but fulfilling the pledges here.
Of course this is assuming that they were anywhere as close as SJG, which from their own updates we kknow they are not.
Someone is reading the posts here - who else requested the banning of a few more vocal backers here - so iif thisis not the case , telll me it is not.
I suggest as has been the case for over three years now, Kevin is paying lip service to the rules, but has mo immediate intention of meeting his obligations to us. If I am lying, prove me wrong.
As a further aside I was looking at the latest Rifts BG sculpt fpr the Glitterboy (nice, complex but not my cup of tea)and wonder how many parts it will comw in. If it was PB and RTT I was thinking of around 25-30
Why do people think theres been a mass-banning?
More likely one person said something somewhere, possibly not even on this KS.
Kevin is not God (he just thinks he is) and can not just wave a magic wand and make people go away. (well, unless the wand had a refund attached to it with a NDA required to collect)
Not banned here, just waiting for another not update to not nicely comment on.
pretty dead in here. Wonder how many got banned/put on a time out??? Surely the "Not Palladium" kickstarter must be starting soon.
@Steven Labus: The way they see it, they probably get enough sales via the gray market that it's hard to justify bringing the legal fight to force their way into the American market.
Seriously, if the Macross owners wanted to, they could probably get the Real Macross stuff over here, and HG would hope that someone would call their lawyers who would hope that they actually have a leg to stand on in preventing it from happening. Since HG has no real ownership/rights to Macrosss, the license wasn't granted by the rightful owner, they would fail big time in trying to stop the rightful owner from getting it here.
I'm not really sure why they don't try to bring it over.
@Richard Good luck, the response to me was of the "We Hope" variety. They hope to have it fixed this year. That's a lot of hope for a business. Probably why nothing ever gets done, they all sit around and look at the desk and hope the work does itself.
Well I've sent Harmony Gold a nice email seeing if they want to get some movement. Also tried your FTC system, but not sure what a UK guy can do
You might find a buyer if cheap enough.
I'm very disheartened by the way that Palladium Games has managed this project. I honestly don't even want Wave Two anymore. I pledged for 2 x Showdown (Mistake clearly) so I have one box of RRT that I haven't even opened. Not sure what to do with it. I wonder if there's something I can donate it to other than the landfill?
I suspect this will not be an issue, since I expect that the funding goal may be relatively low and this will be acheived very early on in the KS process. There a a lot of Rifts players out there who simply are totatlly unconcerned with the woes here. Indeed many will already know of Palladium's track record and simply think whatever. of course , as Carmen is at pains to point out this is not a Palladium product - maybe not but I know Kevin will want designer credit somewhere.
Rather than funding heavily and dropping out , more contentious might be the $1 pledges to get access to comments and the potential for let us say "harsh" words to be exchanged
After funding I could see this being produced in reasonably good time if the numbers of miniatures to be included are relatively low and can be made in one piece - I wonder if carmen is thinking of the new Prodos Unicast, heavily promoted last year. The rest of the game is simply books and cardstock that Carmen should be well familiar with.
Just hope Kevin is not looking over his shoulder and then decides to change again and decide that is the way forward for RTT. Inevitably that will be the excuse as manufacture is put back to 2018 - honest that will be the year of Robotech
"You can change or cancel your pledge at any time before the project’s funding deadline (with one exception). You can increase, decrease, or cancel your pledge at any time during the campaign, with one exception. During the last 24 hours of the campaign, you can’t decrease or cancel your pledge without contacting customer support first — if that action would drop the project below its funding goal. Once the project has been funded, you can only cancel or change your pledge by making special arrangements directly with the creator. "
@James Edwards: Your statement about cancelling pledges is not really in line with the KS FAQ which states you can cancel your pledge as long as the campaign is live. I've emailed KS support for clarification. Either way, an individual could pledge, post in the comments, and then cancel (say 24 -48 hours before the campaign closes).
And the old double post - it should would be good if anyone in here saw Uncle Kev at a convention and just plain ol' called him a liar and then kept on walking. It's the least you can do to enjoy the money that Palladium stole from you...
That's right! See Uncle Kev - we're finally on to your lies! Refunds now! :)
@Fleshharrower, Delurking just to expand upon your 2014 statement...
#128, Jan 30 2014 "WAVE TWO Kickstarter Fullfillment – Fall, 2014
– The balance of ALL the remaining Kickstarter items should ship by October"
#167, Jan 14 2015 "Wave Two is coming in 2015."
#190, Jan 30 2016 "As we get into actual production and manufacturing for Wave Two this year, we will share plenty with you."
#196, Feb 4 2017 "But we are dedicated to getting Wave 2 done and in your hands by the end of 2017."
But they really mean it this time! Really! Why won't people believe them!
Hey its double post Saturdays! I like how my posts on Palladium all have to be reviewed by a moderator before they make it into a forum. Can't have any bad thoughts in Uncle Kev's little playground of the delusional?
Come on and give us our refunds already. It's been over 3 years since you split the project into 2 waves - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rrpgt/robotech-rpg-tacticstm/posts/734271
And you said we'd have Wave 2 by Fall of 2014:
"WAVE TWO Kickstarter Fullfillment – Fall, 2014
– The balance of ALL the remaining Kickstarter items should ship by October"
You lied to get us to bid, you lied about shipping wave 2. You lied about 2016 being the year and we're all pretty certain that you're lying about 2017. There is no way that you've been working on this, you could have learned how to make miniatures and get them shipped by now.
What price that carmen will be on hand at the palladium stand with a prototype version of the Rifts boardgame?
Then you know Palladium will continue to work harder to promote it, than they have on RTT in months.
Got to love the way Palladium plan out everything in advance....not
not happening at all seems more realistic. i noticed he hasn't begged for people to run any rrt events at adepticon this year. then again he's been too busy the last couple months going over how great that board game is even though the ks date hasn't been announced yet.
as for the booth set up it'll be a small table set up with 1 demo table off to the side kinda hiding behind the case of figs they'll bring that hasn't been added to. then for the main table up front will be almost nothing but rifts books and maybe a couple robotech ones with rrt stuff on the back table behind and away from the target audience they're trying to pedal the game to.hopefully they get boned by being across from forge world again. then i can flip off pb by dropping cash at the forge world booth while being ignored by pb as i walk by there looking again to see if anything changed.
Note that in the same update Kevin will only be attending Coastcon and gencon. Yet somehow preparation for all the cons will take a significant portion of his time. I guess someone has to load/unload the truck before/after each con.
Surely this is so he can focus on all those RPG books on the pipeline and not because he doesn't have the budget to travel nor worry about any face to face encounterdown with any backers.
In all fairness the "later in 2017/2018" has been there in the last few updates and like all Palladium release schedues should noy be taken seriously - 2019/2020 might be more realistic?
Again nothing for RTT but more praise and pushing for a non palladium product, I think kevin believes he has done his duty to us by supplying his quarterly update last week. It is the start of convention season, so he has the stock excuse ready. Oh and then he will be waxing lyrical about the Rifts BG throughtout March to June.
I predict that at Adepticon - like last year - one of the staffers will let slip that RTT wil not make 2017 but Kevin, not one to let facts get in the way of his own ego, will keep the sham going. Truth is he knows he has no funds left to complete this project nor has the monies to refund us , as per Kickstarter rules, for not supplying all of the promised rewards and so will continue this charade of smoke and mirrors
There was, towards the end where it says "Coming later in 2017 and 2018" See my previous post.
Wow - nothing at all for RRT in these week's Palladium sales pitch. What a surprise.
Keep those pitchforks high and those torches burning brightly!
Already setting the stage to move the date to next year. From their latest update:
"Coming Later in 2017 and 2018
Lopan™, a Palladium Fantasy RPG® Adventure Sourcebook
Lopanic Games™, a Palladium Fantasy RPG® Sourcebook
Robotech® RPG: Ghost Fleet Saga™ Sourcebook
Robotech® RPG Tactics™: Wave 2 expansion packs
Robotech® RPG Tactics™: Scenario Book One and events
Rifts® Sovietski™ World Book
Rifts® Haunted Tech™ Sourcebook – Rescheduled

And some big surprises coming this summer and fall"
In the case of anaxar.....i'd rather see it done than not. They obviously got hit with something very unexpected. To call them theives after theceork they had already done is a bit much.
Unlike here where its been a shit show from just about day one and virtually everything thats happened here is mostly of their own doing via utter incompetence.
Though apparenyly other projects that are "self funded" seem to be ok in regards to trek...see st continues and st new voyages.
the reward was for a 90 minute movie with professional quality and professional actors.
one actor quite, another died, and they are limited to 2 - 15 minute shorts.
Saying that satisfies the requirements to provide the reward is the same as saying wave 1 satisfies RTT's rewards :-p
Seems axanar can be made after all....just as 15 minute episodes is all.
Be that it may. But one guy Meri is saying he's been sin binned for 6 months by kickstarter. Another guys account is in review.
Kickstarter will remove posts if they violate there rules, not the "be respectful and considerate" below the Post Comment button.
However from my discussion with Kickstarter over on the Axanar project (an even bigger lair and thief then Kev & co.) they can not ban someone without them getting a refund from the creator and removing them as a backer of said project.
Doing so would amount to Kickstarter interfering between creator / backer on a project which they have repeatedly stated they can not and will not do.
Oh - wish I knew what Meri said, might have been an update worth reading!
Well, I mean, let's be realistic. Meri has always had an... enthusiastic way of expressing himself.
I don't think it would've been a very hard case to make for a time out for that alone. Silencing a vocal critic just being icing on the cake there.
Realistically, if it was entirely about quelling discontent ahead of the next campaign, you'd think I'd have been hit with the banhammer as well. Or Rick. Or... some of the other dudes who keep changing their names to random statements.
maybe you should have Diaspora ask Palladium Books why the project is delayed.
From my lurking on dakkadakka the big moose knuckle has been getting Kickstarter to wave the ban-hammer to silence some of us pesky not fan friends.
Don't they know you can't stop the signal! Brown Coats front and centre. ( Yeah wrong show but you get the meaning)
@Steven if that KS goes the way this one has it'd be worth the $1 just to say I told you so.
Besides, for $1 Carmen could refund and remove you from the project to silence you at any time.
I have no intention of keeping it on more than 3 days at a time, and probably not the last day. I have been entertaining thoughts about keeping it, just so I can say "Told you So" to the people who actually believe that there will be progress on that board game. The fact that PB would still get that dollar is what makes me not want to do that.
I don't give a flying frog about what Ninja Division said or did. Kevin read everything they were going to post and they did it on his behalf. If he didn't agree with what they said in the campaign, he had plenty of opportunity to make corrections. He's had plenty of opportunity to make right on this KS. Instead at every turn, he's made things worse by first having a sham vote (if you don't vote, its a yes) to take the boxes to Gencon before sending to backers and then by continuing to say that the project is going to get done when in reality there's been no real movement in over 2 years. I'm sorry but Kevin deserves every bit of ire thrown his way and then some.
@Calibors they did change it so that you can't make it go below funding within the last 24 hours of a project.
