About this project
JOIN THE FREEDOM EXPERIENCE
Stevie Dement, a 43 year old world class kickboxing champion whose fighting career is waning. . . . . .
Corbin Mackenzie, 22 year old paraplegic with cerebral palsy confined to a wheelchair. . . . . .
What do these two have in common?
A bond like father and son,
A desire to escape from the raw challenges in life and
A chance to be free.
One struggles with the reality of aging and it’s effect on athletic performance,
The other struggles with the reality of change and it’s effect on motor skills.
Both are tough mentally, but are limited by their physical state.
Help us now to see how these two experience freedom.
Become a part of it.

Mark Crump with Reflecting Pool Productions and his team want to make a documentary to share this story about the drive and desire these two men have to experience freedom despite all odds. This documentary will show the trials this team will face during training. It will show the triumphs they will face along the way. We want to share every step of the way with you. Pledge now. As Corbin said, “I won’t let you down”, so don’t let him down. RPP will be entering the film into the Sundance film festival.
HOW WILL THEY DO IT
Stevie and Corbin have started their training and preparation to compete in triathlons together. Training for these triathlons are much different than the traditional regimen. For water training, Stevie will be working extra hard swimming to ensure he will be able to carry Corbin on a raft attached to his body whereas Corbin will be focusing on maintaining stability to prevent from tipping over. They will practice communication signals as well to ensure Corbin’s safety and comfort for this portion. The two tried a few options from rafts to kayaks until they agreed on the best equipment for both. Biking will be slightly different given there will be a custom made cart attached to the back for some added weight which means added work for Stevie. The cart, customized to fit Corbin’s body for protection and comfort, will take a several trips back and forth to Atlanta, GA for production. Lastly Stevie will not have the luxury of using his arms to gain momentum for running since he will be pushing the cart in front of him. After weeks of training, the two will be able to participate in their first triathlon. This documentary will take you along as a passenger on their journey to witness the challenging steps towards becoming free.
WHERE DO THE FUNDS GO
Your pledge will not only help support Stevie and Corbin’s journey towards the freedom experience, but it will help others be a part of it. This documentary will be made to encourage others to challenge themselves, overcome obstacles and be free of doubt, fear, or any other emotion that may be holding them back from succeeding. Your pledge will go towards racing equipment, video production, and the cost to host a movie premiere night in Stevie and Corbin’s hometown, Augusta, GA.
Risks and challenges
The main challenge for this project is going to be capturing the most important moments. The story is going to happen, the challenge is catching it on film and presenting it to the audience to become a part of it. We don’t want you to miss a moment in this story, so the production team at Reflecting Pool Production will be on call 24/7 to capture this experience every step of the way.
