What inspired us in making this game? Let us flip the question for a moment. Have you ever found yourself thinking, while playing a board game, “yes, sure, beautiful images, but who are these characters? Why are they supposed to be doing what they are doing?”. Well, what we wanted to create was a “narrative” game, that could tell a story during its course, something new and fresh, immersive, creative and intriguing. We decided we wanted to create a steampunk world, since this is a kind of imagery we love, and also to give it a strong horror vibe, as we are very intro rich, thematic atmospheres. Each game of Dreamwars is living a story, which unfolds before you and with you. Beyond rolling the dice, you will find compelling heroes with a mysterious past, dangerous encounters, shady characters, curious NPCs, all set in a unique blend of heroic fantasy and Victorian-inspired imagery. How many times did you have to interrupt a game, because it had gotten late? Dreamwars' Ordeals are modular campaigns, each designed to be playable in a classic board-game night with your friends, while also leaving you the freedom to “pause” the game in-between chapters and resume it easily whenever you want, just like a book, or a video-game. We believe the players' choices are very important. Therefore we created a gaming system with branched adventures, whose ending changes depending on what happened throughout the hole campaign. The modularity and the different endings are only some of the characteristics we are presenting in the core game. We are planning in introducing secondary objectives and tasks, which will make your choices even more important and the missions' outcome even more varied. The core game currently includes 9 all-different, branched campaigns, made of more than 60 thematic missions, plus 3 entry-level, one-shot Ordeals, designed to be either an easy introduction to the game, or the fastest way to play a Dreamwars adventure. Thanks to its unique campaign system, Dreamwars has an extremely high replay value, however we didn't stop there: we created two different Adventure cards decks you will use while exploring our Map (the game board). They provide small, narrative side-quests for the heroes, mysterious investigations, encounters that will give your character the chance to form his own party of allies, each with a unique special ability, or mercenaries, which will follow you only until their contract expires. The whole game is designed to offer the highest replay value possible. Being gaming enthusiasts ourselves, our goal has always been to create something we always wanted from a game: a rich narrative component, a high replay value, an intuitive gaming mechanic and a thrilling new world, ready to be explored. This is our passion and our dream.

In extreme synthesis we can say the game is divided into three parts; narrative campaigns, fierce fights against nightmarish enemies and mysterious discoveries waiting to be made all around the Map. These elements reward the players with a rich and varied gaming experience and an extremely high replayability value. The unique unlockable abilities, crazy Equipment cards and the wide variety of Allies and Mercenaries you may encounter in your journey will let you shape and play your Hero the way you want, while exploring the brand new steampunk setting full of horrors that we prepared for you. Risks and challenges
Since this is officially the first project by Royal Art Games, our greatest challenge will be the complex logistics behind the delivery of our product. The shipping of such a voluminous and heavy box all over the world will certainly prove fairly arduous, but we are currently in contact with several experts in the field and we are sure we can find all the solutions necessary to prevent any possible complications. Our priorities are making sure the game design is top notch, the gaming narrative is deep and consistent, and the rules are easy to learn and accessible for everyone.
This means that, until we are completely sure our standards are respected, we may need to do some more revisions before we send the game to the printers. We believe these potential delays are worth the time, if they mean a higher quality and a better gaming experience for everyone.
Finally, with the sole exception of the 3D models and the final trailer, everything you see has been realized by a single team of developers and artists, which testifies the commitment we put in this project. A commitment we hope you will appreciate when you will have our box in your hands.
