Imperial Skies Wargame

£7,207

Imperial Skies is a table top wargame of lighter-than-air ship battles, played out over the land and sea of the early 20th Century.

Fleets of flying ships are pitted against each other in fast-paced aerial tactical combat. Gather powerful fleets of your favourite nation including Battleships, Dreadnoughts, Cruisers, Destroyers, Aircraft, Bombers and Patrol Boats.

Over the last two years we have been writing and testing a set of lighter than air ship combat rules.  Now the rules are at that final stage of compiling, gathering artwork and proof reading and I need some help raising the fund for the printing. This kickstarter will help us get through final stages, producing a new full colour rule set and several new fleet ships.

This project is being run as a partnership between Rottenlead the publishers of the Gruntz 15mm SCI-FI rules and Brigade Models, an established UK supplier of fine scale models for fantasy, sci-fi and historical gaming.

There are already is an excellent range of miniature models available from Brigade Models in the UK and in addition to their existing range, if we hit some stretch goals with our Kickstarter we will be adding some additional ships and a starter fleet for a new Spanish fleet.

You can either pledge for just the rules or the rules combined some of the reduced price starter fleets.

The Product

The main output of this project is the rulebook, perfect bound and over 100 pages of content.  It includes multiple artwork items in full colour and clearly described rules for playing a lighter than air wargame.

In the rulebook we are including a set of painting guides which use the Army Painter paints to detail the steps in painting the airships for several of the core factions.

The Miniatures

In addition to pledging for the rules we are offering some discounted starter fleets as a bundle with the rules.  These fleets include the following break down of models for the key 7 nations.  If you pledge for one starter fleet bundled with the rulebook you can then add more at a cost of £24 per nation.  Each starter fleet has multiple miniatures in the pack as detailed with the multiplier by the name. For more view of the airships named in the packs, visit the Brigade Models web site.

Stretch Goals:

If we hit 4K we will produce another brand new design of battleship for the French Faction the Gauloise-class Battleship. You will be able to add individual stretch goal airships by adding £7 per airship to an existing rulebook pledge. This is a discounted price from the final retail for these brand new airships.  These are yet to be designed models, however we are expecting them to be excellent miniatures like the rest of Brigade's lighter than airship range. If we hit these targets we will keep pledgers up to date with progress images of the miniatures as they work through design to production.

At 5K the British Vanguard-class Dreadnought

At 6K the German Kaiser-class Dreadnought

At 7K the US Lexington-class Battlecruiser

At 8K the  Russian Tsar-class Battleship

At 9K the Japanese Shikiskima-class Battlecarrier

At 10K the Austrian Monarch-class Light Battleship

Also at the 10K stretch we will produce a full new Spanish starter fleet, the 'Ejercito del Cielo' Spanish' which will be at least 4-5 different ships and in a pack size to match the starter fleet pledges. For a starter set of these Spanish ships it will be an additional £24 to your pledge.

Risks and challenges

I have personally taken a set of rules called Gruntz 15mm SCI-FI through development, testing and then publication on the Wargames Vault and it is now in print. I know how hard it can be to finish a rule book to a good standard, however my experience of organising the final testing, proofing and then taking rules into production will help us through the final stages of getting the Imperial Skies rules printed and shipped out to our Kickstarter backers.

This Kickstarter project is partnership between Brigade Models in the UK and Rottenlead the publishers of Gruntz 15mm. There will be time challenges in getting new miniatures into production, however with the many years of experience that Brigade Models have in the design and casting and sale of miniatures will mean we have knowledge to deliver backers the rules and miniatures they pledge for. Many of the ships are existing miniatures available from Brigade Models, which will make it easier for us to fulfil the pledges for the discounted fleet starter packs.

The team are expecting a smooth and trouble free project and to hit our committed time frame, however we are aware of the importance of communicating any issues that do occur to our backers and will be making all efforts to keep our progress visible to supporters.
