- Where do the watches ship from?
All of our watches ship from the UK. We don't know if you'll have to pay import duties if you're outside the UK - check with your local tax office.
- Where do you ship to?
We ship to any country in the world except: Saudi Arabia, Kosovo, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, North Korea, and Yemen. Nothing personal, it's just really hard to ship to those countries.
- Which courier company do you use?
All our products ship through Royal Mail in the UK. We use a "tracked and signed for" service for all countries it's available for, and a "signed for" service for all the rest. We can not use different couriers on a one-off basis, even with extra payment. Our system relies on us shipping fast without having to handle some shipments differently to others.
- How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is a flat fee of £10.
- Can you declare a different price on the shipment?
No. We are often asked to declare a lower price on the shipment or ship in multiple packages to help avoid taxes. That is fraud and we'd put ourselves at huge legal risk. We will not do that. The price declared on the shipment will be the value you paid for the goods we are shipping. If you place one order your goods will be shipped in one order. If you place multiple separate orders they will be shipped as separate orders.
- Why "Hamtun"?
Hamtun is an ancient name for the settlement that eventually became our home city of Southampton, UK.
- Are the dimensions 100% accurate?
The sizes and weights detailed here are accurate for our prototypes. When we move to production we will use slightly different manufacturing methods which could result in small variations. Nothing significant, we will be using the same technical drawings, but you could find a fraction of a mm or a few grammes difference between these samples and the production models.
- What fallback do you have in place in case a supplier lets you down?
We work with multiple factories for cases and bracelets. If there is a problem with one we always have a fallback in place that can take over.
We will source our movements from Seiko & Sellita. Sellita is a big, well-known movement supplier and has a good relationship with our assembly factory. If you know Swiss movements you'll probably have heard of them. We have a fallback option in STP, who we have also worked with before.
Having a backup plan makes sense, but having to execute it would delay delivery. The chance of Seiko, Sellita or our factories letting us down is tiny, we know and trust them. The backup plan exists because it's good practice, not because we expect to need to execute it.
- What warranty do you offer?
All Hamtun watches come with a 2 year warranty covering manufacturing defects. What does that really mean? If your watch fails because it's faulty, we'll fix or replace it. If you drop it, damage it, break it through misuse or lose it, it's on you. We'll be fair, we expect you to be as well.
Risks and challenges
This is our 4th Kickstarter campaign, and our 5th pre-order campaign overall (we sold a second edition of the H1 directly through our own website). We have an established supply chain in place that has delivered thousands of watches to our customers around the world.
We have built titanium dive watches and worked with all of our movement suppliers before, so have experience delivering a project of this specification and complexity.
We have built prototypes of the H2 and will be working with the same factories for the production run. Photos of the prototypes have been shared here.
We have fall-backs that we have worked with before and can step in if our primary factories have any unexpected problems.
Our primary factory is well known and well established in the industry, supplies many brands, and has completed our last 2 production runs. We talk almost every day, even when not in the middle of a production period, and are incredibly confident in their abilities and ethics.
We are very pleased with the quality of the prototypes and have shared them with independent reviewers. If you're a reviewer for a serious publication and would like to review an H2 we'd be happy to send you one, but please note that we do not pay for coverage. Email email@example.com if you're interested in seeing one.
We will link to reviews/videos on this campaign page as and when they are posted.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
