Million Dollars, But… The Game (MDB) is a game that puts your morals and imagination to the test, posing the question, "What would you do for a million dollars?" Players create scenarios by combining a Trigger and a Rule card to showcase what they would or wouldn’t do for a big hunk of cash. (For example, A Million Dollars, But… Every time you see a store having a sale, you poop your pants a little bit.)
The best part of the game occurs when everyone debates the scenarios that have been presented to the judge. “Does it include online store sales or just in-person sales?” “How much poop are we talking: a rabbit pellet or an uncomfortable amount?”
MDB is a widespread communal project, spanning across half a dozen different departments within Rooster Teeth. It’s based on Rooster Teeth’s massively popular hit-comedy series, Million Dollars, But….

So you wanna play a few rounds of MDB, huh? Well, gather up a few “friends,” prep your cringing muscles, and put on your best imagination cap. It’s time to get weird for a million dollars.
Setup of the Game
Each player takes 4 black Trigger Cards and 4 gold Rule Cards. Put together, these cards create scenarios. Now, pick a judge from your group of friends. Maybe the person with the biggest feet?
How to Play
Each player will hand a full scenario (remember, that's 1 black Trigger Card and 1 gold Rule Card), face-down, to the judge. See below for an example scenario.
One at a time, the judge will read the scenarios out loud to the group. This next part is where we think the fun of MDB lives. All players will attempt to glorify or downplay the scenarios, regardless of whether he/she put down that particular scenario.
The judge will then pick the scenario they absolutely WOULD NOT do for a million bucks. The winner of that round is the new judge.
Players then draw back up to 4 of each card type. (Always have 4 black Trigger Cards and 4 gold Rule Cards.)
How to Win
Be the most depraved person on the planet.
No, but seriously. To be the overall winner, be the first player to win 5 rounds.
Other Game Styles
Every core game comes with rules for three additional styles of play with their own goals. While we made a game with enough structure to support rigid rules, we also wanted to create a structure that allows players to make their own horrid/perverse/fun rule sets.

When Lazer Team was crowdfunded, there were a lot of emotions. Elation that over 37,000 community members had helped fund a movie, fear over the fact that it was now time to shoot the movie, trepidation over what was still to come for the next 18 months, and even excitement about what would happen next.
From July 2014 to present day (May 2016), it has been a whirlwind of perk fulfillment. BTS episodes. First shipment. Strangerhood Season 2. Signed perks. Game Time episodes. Lots of content and items have made their way into our backers' loving hands. And you know what? Every step of the process was FUN.
But that wasn't all. By having Lazer Team open to the public, away from our comfortable home of RoosterTeeth.com, new friends found us. They found a project that interested them and LATER found out everything else about Rooster Teeth.
That's why we are crowdfunding this game. Million Dollars, But... The Game is a fun and racy card deck that we want everyone and their weird neighbors to play. What better way to get it out to the public than launch it here on Kickstarter?

The game was developed overnight. No, really it was. Our story started on the last Friday of February when Brian Reilly, Associate Producer for Rooster Teeth Games, was intercepted by Burnie Burns, Rooster Teeth’s Chief Creative Officer, in the kitchen of Stage 5 in Austin, TX. He presented the idea of a Million Dollars, But… card game to Brian, to which Brian responded, "Oh yeah, totally. No brainer! I bet we could mix this and that mechanic and mimic the show pretty easily."
Brian went back to his desk and started spitballing ideas with Andy Messner, the Senior Producer for Rooster Teeth Games. The next day there was a prototype with about 80 cards. By the end of the week, the games team pitched their prototype to the cast and crew of Million Dollars, But… And with that, history was made.
From there, we tapped into the sickest corners of Rooster Teeth employees’ minds, sourcing triggers and rules from anyone who was willing to contribute. After a series of cross-company playtests, the games team locked down the game design.
We all know games need to look pretty, so Rooster Teeth’s badass graphic design team took over at that point. Patrick Schmidt and Tom Lusardi worked their asses off over the span of two weeks to design all the assets, cards, and packaging necessary for a complete game. As final art came in, Joe Rozsa, Rooster Teeth’s VP of E-Commerce, facilitated a relationship with printers in China, ensuring we’ll be ready to crank out the game as soon as it’s funded.
All in all, after a lot of cross-team collaboration and hard work, here we are. We're all pretty damn excited to see what you sick bastards would do for $1 million.
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge that we could face is if we receive an unprecedented number of backers and do not have enough box sets or expansion packs to fulfill all of those orders in a timely manner.
