About this project
What's This All About?
We at Cloudburst Games want to reward you for helping us with a new and improved version of our favorite animated pet, the lovable dog named Duke. By contributing through Kickstarter, you will make this a reality for us, and in turn we’ll spread the love with fun perks in our revised app. Not only will you be able to choose accessories for Duke, but you can put yourself in the game! You can see your face and hear your voice, as well as place a video of you and your own real, live dog right in the app!
Who Is Duke?
- Duke is a virtual pet on the mobile device that prevents boredom.
- Duke is entertaining, dances, sings, lots more.
- Duke wears clothing and accessories you buy.
- Duke is a "hit" in Russia and China.
- Duke is free!
Duke is a Talking App character or virtual pet. In other words, he is a mobile app that features a 3D character. The character is interactive, allowing you to play with him, gives a life-like feeling. He's your own pet and responds to your slightest touch. So what's the plus side? You don't have to take him on a walk, or take care of him on a strict schedule! He dances, sings, bites fleas, and lots more actions (see below for a video description). He can wear a viking hat, a top hat, and sunglasses (look forward to more accessories in the future!). He's so fun that he can lift your mood at any time. Duke will always be there to keep you entertained, whether you’re listening to a 43 minute voicemail message from a relative, standing in an endless line at the DMV or enduring a mind-numbing speech from your boss.
Our original Duke 1 character grew dear to the hearts of thousands here and internationally in Russia and China. Original Duke hit number 1 and stayed within the top 10 for six months in Russia.
We realized that the Duke 1 character model wasn't as warm, furry and cuddly looking as he could've been, so we went back to the drawing board, literally, and came up with several possible versions of a new and even more lovable Duke. We’ve worked with animal animation before and trust our instincts, but we also put a premium value on the opinion of our app users, so only after extensive market research did we decide on a clear winner – Duke 2.
And while many fans of Duke 1 were kids, the revised Duke 2 will offer an adorable but sometimes devilish fellow whose antics are nonetheless appropriate for app users of all ages and backgrounds!
Can I Get Duke 1 Free?
If you love dogs, pets or just having fun, throw yourself a bone and get to know the original Duke by clicking on this link to a free Duke 1 iPhone app.
In the app, Duke 1 performs the following tricks: dances to disco music, tries to get the bone, grabs his slipper, mocks the cat, licks the screen, scratches at fleas, howls at the moon, catches a bouncing ball and pulls off a doggy back-flip. Please be sure to download Duke 1 and have a good time on us!
What Are The Benefits of Duke 2?
Duke 2 will be released free, it's a mobile Talking App project in development with great features likely to bring even more success than Duke 1:
- Action takes place in a realistic 3D house.
- Duke 2 has realistic 3D fur.
- More hilarious & exciting actions than most talking apps. (Even surprises!)
- The new version includes more special effects than most talking apps.
What Are Accessories?
We would also like to include an accessories feature in Duke 2 for the benefit of contributors. This means you can choose Duke's outfits so that he is wearing your favorite clothing, hip hats, stylin' sunglasses, and even sporty get-ups like soccer jerseys. Accessories will not only make Duke more dynamic and entertaining, but allow you to personalize him.
What Is The YouTube Component?
Check out the video below to see a sample of how you can incorporate your own video of you and your canine companion into the Duke 2 app!
What's In It For Me?
The real excitement kicks in at $40 or more. With that pledge amount Duke on command will Thank You by name in his own voice! Talk about a cool party trick.
What If You Beat Your Goal?
If we beat our goal, we will not only jump for joy and do a little jig, we'll use any excess funds to expand the Duke frontier. We will also work on our other humorous apps that we have in the animation menagerie, such as our Talking Nicky line, another fun story we have cooking.
We thank you so much for your continuing support and generous contributions! We are thrilled with this experience and are very much looking forward to success with this joint effort!
What If I Have No Idea How Kickstarter Works?
If you're not familiar
with Kickstarter or how it will work, here's a brief overview:
For the next 30 days, you'll be able to make pledges to help support Duke Finds a Home, ranging from $1 to whatever you can afford. Your credit card or other account will not actually be charged at the time you make your pledge, and you can change your mind right up to the final deadline.
In other words, you do not have to pay anything up front – only if we reach our funding goal.
If the final deadline comes and we've reached our goal, then you get charged the amount you pledged, and we start animating and putting the finishing touches on this app as well as sending out all the wonderful rewards. But if for some reason we don't meet our goal, then the whole thing is called off. You don't get charged, no fees are applied, and you just keep your money.
